@@abtwopoint0generally agree but creatine in an exception even more than protein. Because you can’t get more than your body produces without supplementing, whereas protein is not that hard to achieve with food. So if i were to only have one supplement it would be creatine. it’s like a cheat code without adverse affects of steroids.
@abtwopoint0
@abtwopoint0 6 ай бұрын
@@techfan1017 it is absolutely not a cheat code that would be actual anabolic steroids. Protein powders, creatine powders, etc, are a complete waste of money and the benefits you think you’re experiencing are simply due to the fact you’re in the gym hitting the weights multiple days a week. Nobody on creatine supplements is seeing better results than people not on creatine supplements with the same effort and intensity and routine. You might think you are but you’re also most likely not cutting out the creatine you’ve always used

Some of that literature is a bit hairy. Some of the non-responders in those studies may have responded had they been giving a higher dosage, say 10g per day. Not everyone needs 5g. some need 3, some need 10. some need more than 10. The mountain man hapthor bjorsson needs more creatine to saturate his 400 lbs frame than my 200 lbs frame needs. Age 72 i added creatine 15 months ago. I have been working out for nearly 10 years. Early last year i started 16:8 intermittent fast and i lost 15 or 16 pounds. However, i lost muscle mass (my daughter noticed it in my biceps) which is reported with IF. I added creatine and fully regained my muscle mass and kept the weight off.

I’m gonna guess as we age our bodies don’t absorb natural creatine and protein like they used to (like i do) a 20 year old male. The “no adverse affects”, applies only to kidney health (it’s right there in the text on the screen). It does raise blood pressure, so talk to your doctor if that’s a concern for you. I used to take it and had good results, but can’t anymore because of this. And follow the instructions on the container. Some types may recommend cycling off and getting back on.

I have constantly taken 5-10 grams of creatine a day for over 4 years. Due to taking isotretinoin because of my acne, I had to stop taking creatine because my creatinine levels were so high that they could damage my kidneys in combination. I have now been off it for 6 months and my strength levels have actually increased due to the normal progessive overload. I notice absolutely no changes with or without creatine. My creatinine level is also exactly the same as before and is checked monthly.

@@benstephens187 creatine has an effect in about 75 percent of people. With the exact same calories I put about 6 or 7 lbs of waterweight, makes a noticeable difference in my muscle size. On top of the potential strength aid, it gives you endurance and cognitive benefits. Creatine and whey protein are both fine supplements, they're just supplements but will do as advertised, with creatine depending on your response and diet. As the word indicates, supplements are just to supplement your diet, sounds like you confused them for peds or were convinced by a sales pitch and had your heart broken.

Then finally around month 7 I took a trip and didn’t take it for three days and I noticed that within those three days the pain was less intense. Although I felt it from the minute I woke up to the minute I fell asleep, it was more bearable. It greatly/very noticeably sped up hair loss for me. I didn't notice cramps much, but I only ended up taking it for a little over a month. Having had health issues in the further past, I'm more tuned into and listen to my body more than the average (when mainstream medicine isn't a help to you whatsoever, it forces you to do this). Course the creatine dogmatists don't like to hear any of this. Creatine is only positive and never negative. They will actually tell you/us that creatine had NOTHING to do with our increased hair loss. Like we're stupid and can't notice basic and overt patterns like that/ In a way though, for those who do have sped up hair loss in connection to it, we may be hyper responders to it, which may good for hypertrophy.

I did a study on creatine in my sports nutrition class and creatine helps with energy storage. It turns ATP into ADP because ATP doesn’t have a long life span. Creatine will remove one phosphate tail so ADP (which has a longer life span) can be stored in the muscle until the muscle needs an energy source, that is when creatine placed the third phosphate tail to ADP making it ATP again. So my question is when you say creatine builds muscle is it because of the energy the muscle has or is there another way creatine actually improves muscle growth? Thank you man hope you see this comment n keep up the videos!

I take creatine daily for over a year. You can definitely put on more muscle size than just 1-3 pounds. I put in my daily cup of hot coffee as it disolves completely which makes it easy on my stomach. When i used to put in my cold protein shake it wouldnt disolve fully and sometimes be gritty when drinking and would cause issuea with my stomach. So if you are having stomach issues with creatine try it in a hot beverage to disolve it completely
@asiamies9153

In hot coffee, the elevated temperature can accelerate the degradation of creatine into creatinine, which is a byproduct that the body does not use in the same way as creatine. For optimal preservation, it is better to mix creatine with cooler liquids. You probably had stomach issues because your body got the actual creatine mostly in the ideal form, rather than the other one

I mean, the relationship between creatine and hair loss is NOT supported by scientific evidence, it's considered a myth... What 1, and just 1 study showed (because other studies seem to not be able to replicate the finding) is that creatine elevated DHT among participants, and DHT is associated with hair loss; but even the author of this study says, that although they observed an increase of DHT in the participants, but none of them experienced any hair loss. Meaning, again, that there's no scientific evidence showing a relationship between hair loss and creatine consumption.

It most likely had this effect on me. I say most likely and not certainly, because I was also taking fadogia agrestis and tongkat ali for the first time as well. But a few weeks to a month into also lifting for the first time with the above, I started to lose hair quite rapidly and noticeably. It freaked me out and I quit all of it cold turkey. There are some indications that creatine does help with converting testosterone into DHT, which is what is primarily responsible for male pattern baldness. Meanwhile, fadogia and tongkat can help to boost testosterone levels allegedly. Whatever the case, something made me start losing hair like crazy, and these were the only things different in my life then. I don't give a flying f what arm chair theorists or the like say, my own experience showed me quite clearly what happens for my body at least. In a way, I guess this is a good thing in a sense, because it seems to indicate that I'm a hyper responder to creatine. But I'm vain about my hair and going bald. If I ever take creatine again, I will take saw palmettto and the like to counter balance the DHT conversion effect (and rub DHT blockers into my bald areas). Also, I will probably try the HCL version, because the monohydrate version had a pretty noticeable mucous forming effect on my body as well.

The vast majority of speculation around this stems from a single study by van der Merwe et al in 2009 that showed an increase in DHT in a group of athletes doing creative supplementation. However, no other study has been able to replicate this finding. To date, 12 other studies have investigated the effects of creatine supplementation on testosterone. Two studies reported small, physiologically insignificant increases in total testosterone after six and seven days of supplementation while the remaining ten studies reported no change in testosterone concentrations. In five of these studies free testosterone, which the body uses to produce DHT, was also measured and no increases were found.

Yep, another one, and it was bloody obvious for me because I had long, glorious hair at the time. I had a minor/small balding patch on the crown region previous, but that expanded quite quickly and noticably, and as a dude with long hair, you know when you are losing a lot of hair rapidly. If I ever take creatine again, I would also take saw palmetto internally and rub anti-DHT stuff into the balding areas to counterbalance the apparently DHT increasing effects. Also will try the HCL version, because the monohydrate version had a mucous forming effect.

Cope. They get mpb anyway and think it was the creatine which it isn't. My mpb has slowed down since I started taking it. So now what is it? There's no mechanism in the body that would allow creatine to affect hair growth and that one study that claimed it was disproven by every other study out there.

A couple years ago, I started taking creatine monohydrate, with an herbal supplement with fadogia agrestist and tongkat ali. Also started to do weight resistant training. For the first and only time ever in my life, I started to lose A LOT of hair very quickly after about a month into it. I had long hair at the time and it was very noticeable/obvious. And yes, there is a mechanism--creatine seems to help with the conversion of testosterone into DHT. Meanwhile, there are other substances that block testosterone conversion into DHT like Saw Palmetto (if I ever do creatine again, I will take something like that to counter balance that effect). I gather that the combo of the herbs and lifting for the first time started to up my testosterone levels while the creatine started to up DHT conversion--hence the rapid hair loss. I also noticed that creatine had a mucous forming effect on me--meaning my body would create more mucous than usual after ingesting it.
@Sorest2

@@Shvabicu I honestly think it's also a false correlation, but there's a study increased DHT which if you're sensitive can speed it up, now it might not be true but who knows, so damn annoying anyway.

I’ve used creatine for over 20 years and only heard about the hair loss concern on social media about a couple years ago. I still have a full head of hair and male pattern baldness is in my family as my dad was bald. I guess people should try it out and if their hair falls out from it then stop taking it. I assume the hair will grow back when the creatine is discontinued if that was the cause?

Me as well. It was quite noticeable. I have never experienced anything like it before or since. I had long hair at the time, and I was like, why the f is my hair coming out like this?! Creatine may boost conversion of testosterone into DHT. DHT is one of the drivers of MPB--not the only one, but definitely one of the biggest variables/factors. Another effect of creatine monohydrate that I noticed was an increase in mucous production. I'm tuned into this because I have some food intolerances/sensitivity and certain foods like regular cow milk and egg whites do this to be big time. I didn't see it as a good sign/indication.

@@Shvabicu This is just a very dismissive response. Hair loss isn't just a yes/no dichotomy. Having mpb to start with doesn't mean taking creatine has no effect on the rate and intensity of hair loss.

👋🏻 Question regarding Creatine? I’m 40 years old and have been working out for many years (CrossFit, some powerlifting but mostly regular brosplits ) I haven’t been trying Creatine until last month when I decided to try it out. My problem though is that I feel a weird feeling around the Chest/heart. Feels like my heart is pounding weird? I had some trouble with sleep and worst was when I was just laying down to rest It felt like my heart was beating a bit weird? I have read a lot online and found some forums were people have experienced the same feelings but most people say it BS. What’s your thoughts on this? Should I go back and try again ? Maybe another form of Creatine? (Used monohydrate) Looking forward to hear your opinion //JP
