Maz, I put a 10 ft wide impact screen in my garage. But it's really important that I can put the car in the garage. So for the flooring I need to be able to put it away when I'm done. I'm thinking I could build the flooring on 2 sheets of plywood using the same method you used and put the hitting mat behind. That way I could pick up each piece of plywood and lean it against the wall in the back of the garage when I'm done. The front edge of my hitting mat would be 8 ft from the screen. I think that's ok as I'm using a SkyTrak Plus. I wonder what you think about this idea. I wonder if you have a better solution. Thanks for giving this some thought!
@buildsbymazАй бұрын
I think that would work - here are a couple thoughts I have. Plywood will come in 4x8 panels, so if you are wanting it to cover the full 10 ft width, you will have to attach a couple pieces. I would also use a thin plywood, otherwise it might be heavy having to lift and move them every time you are parking the car. Another option would be to get some high density rubber flooring (like gym flooring) that you could just drive on top of. But, that would be a bit more expensive.

Benq is a popular choice for simulators and it should be a good projector, hopefully it works out for you with that throw distance.

Excellent video man. I'm going to basically copy this entire build! Any suggestions on how you'd approach setting up for both left and right handed golfers? I'm thinking maybe a cheaper driving range mat next to the good one just for footing but have everyone hitting off of the good mat. Or would putting a hitting strip down be better?
@buildsbymaz2 ай бұрын
I think both of those options are solid, it just depends on your budget. They do make extra large mats specifically for use with both righties and lefties, but they are a lot more expensive. A hitting strip would work great but would also be a bit pricier. You could also use 2 of these Go Sports Mats side by side which would be a cheaper option.
@Strato5Fear2 ай бұрын
@@buildsbymaz 2 mats may be the best bet. They are a bit more costly north of the border though at nearly $350 a piece
@buildsbymaz2 ай бұрын
@@Strato5Fear Wow that's quite a bit more! You can also check Amazon for a 'Used - Like New' option, which will save you money. That will likely be a brand new mat that was returned by someone.

How do you like the GSPro mat thus far? What mat did you use before? I went with horse stall mats as my base and am trying to decide if I want to cut a 2'x4' strip or do the whole mat.
@buildsbymaz2 ай бұрын
That is actually the only hitting mat that I've ever used, and I've always liked it. Personally I don't think I would like the feel of swinging with golf shoes on the smooth horse stall mats, so I would recommend getting a full mat, but that's completely your personal preference. You also have the option down the road to cut a hitting strip within the Go Sports mat.

Impressive production quality. I think you have the makings of a channel. how about videos on how to use the simulator to improve your game. I know i struggled to understand the numbers and feedback from the launch monitor. You could pick a shot type, describe the club(s) used for that shot type and then how to read the numbers, what are good numbers, what are bad numbers and how to correct your shot to get the right numbers. you could have 1 video per shot type. build up that catalog. each video 10-15 mins long. Good luck.

I am following your set up to a tee (no pun) and my enclosure isn’t 12 x 9 x 5. I have a purchased a Mevo + as well. I have taped off the measurements on the floor. I intend t to build a sectioned raised floor on caster wheels so I can store it away so I can occasionally use the garage stall. The issue I am seeing is with a five (5) foot enclosure depth I have to hit from 11-12 Ft back so I don’t swing my driver into the side wall. How far back are you hitting from and how exact depth is your enclosure?? Thanks!
@buildsbymazАй бұрын
My enclosure is 58 inches deep and I am hitting from 10 feet back. But if your enclosure isn't as wide as 12 feet, then yes you might be at risk of hitting the side wall with your club. I think having a 3.5 or 4 foot deep enclosure would still be plenty deep. But keep in mind hitting from 11-12 feet back isn't a bad thing (if you have the space) as it will allow for more ball flight and more accurate readings.

@buildsbymazАй бұрын
That is totally dependent on your height and swing plane. The only way to know is to try actually swinging clubs down there. You can hold them upside down so if your club does hit the ceiling, it will just be the grip that's hitting it.

What about the pro and face capture on the mevo?
@buildsbymaz2 ай бұрын
I think those are great options if you are serious about game improvement and want to spend a lot of the time in the simulator working on your swing. It'll give you good detail on your swing plane, low point, and face impact location, so you can really understand why some shots miss their target or have a certain flight path. These can also be added on after the fact, but I think if you get them as a bundle with the mevo+ then you get a better deal.

I was lucky, I have a friend who builds PCs and he had a bunch of old parts he threw together for cheap. A gaming PC that was previously used for things like Call of Duty should be good.
