I do the same thing with my leaves when it comes to my flower beds. Gardening is hard work but so rewarding and relaxing to me. I think you're doing a great job.

I used 10 inches of mulch to kill my grass for a bed. So far so good. I did not use cardboard.

@ and recently, I planted a new tree in that area and already the top. Few inches of the soil were much improved.
