I’m so glad you mentioned not having to pump if you exclusively breastfeed.. lots of differing advice out there and as a new mama I feel pressured to pump even though I’m a SAHM, so I’m not looking to build a stash or anything, and frankly I don’t have room in my fridge / freezer to dedicate to a stash.

I work at dollar general so my schedule varies depending on my schedule either day or night shift is crazy… so when I am home I pump on one side while breastfeeding my son on the other… if it doesn’t feel empty I pump again after he feeds on the breast… when I am working I use a hands free pump it is hard but setting timers can be very helpful… so far my baby is only on breast milk which makes me happy 😊

I wish I can be exclusively breastfeeding but baby took one hour on the breast and still not satisfy. Each pump session yield 1 ounce so I have to supplement with formula. To increase milk supply I have to pump every 2-3hr (6/8) pumps a day with breastfeed and pump.. Btw I only have one working breast as I lost another to cancer. Will my supply increase or has it hit the maximum volume limit at 1 ounce? I am at my 4th week pp. I really want to provide just enough milk for my baby.

I work on my home at home... not quite stay at home and not quite working mom..... this is also with my baby having latching troubles and weight troubles on top of insanely painful breastfeeding made me go to pumping just to keep my baby from losing too much weight and me being in beyond pain. This was despite all the lactation specialists at the hospital saying everything was fine..... my gut feeling along with baby falling immediately asleep every time and my pain said otherwise. The pump saved my breastfeeding journey and sanity. I just fed with what I pumped and had my husband help with bottle feeding wich was so nice for night time trading off especially. After 1.5 months I tried again to breastfeed more during the day when my breasts had healed a bit and now at 2 months almost all feedings are at the breast these days, with exception to when I have to get something done with our very fixer upper home and have a family member babysit for part of the day.... like getting plumbing or electrical work done.... because its nice to have those things working and sucks to have it off for a week or all summer in part of the yard/house. I still am having latching issues with my son so I will be seeing a specialist again..... hopefully this time they can figure out whats going on since I'm doing all the right things supposedly yet its still painful and my nipples look like lipstick half the time. Would have gone in sooner, but I just needed to pump on demand for my pain and sanity for awhile and wasn't ready to go back to breastfeeding full time. Thankfully my zomee fit worked really well out of the box with what little help from hospital staff gave for me. After learning more from this channel my experience is the exception and could have bitten me in the butt real bad had it not worked out and what little time I had to research a good pump when I got the OK from insurance to buy one. I have a sneaking suspicion he inherited my tongue tie woes, but we shall see. Either way I don't regret pumping, I just play by ear day by day and feed on demand and pump on demand as needed and do my best with good judgement. Nothing wrong with a reasonable freezer stash, but no need to become a milk maid in the parlor feeding the freezer either.

Everything was great in the beginning at 4 days I pumped 3 1/2 ounces in one session not I can’t even make a half ounce but I won’t stop . I know I can work better on drinking more water but I truely want to give my child milk till 4 or five or how ever long I can . At this point I don’t even make 3 ounces in 24 hours and she won’t feed off me anymore. What ever I do make I am blessed and I give it to her . I really would love to make more . Thank you ❤

I pumped and breastfeed until I went back to work at 12 weeks. In doing this I basically tricked my body into believing I was feeding twins. I basically pumped every 3 hours around the clock until baby started sleeping through the night. Then I pumped every 3-4 hours during wake hours. I did this so I had a good supply going back to work. I was able to build up a stash big enough to stop pumping at 7 months and feed my baby until 14 months with breast milk

Ebf mamas dont need to pump. However I'm an ebf sahm mama and will be trying to pump and build a supply for emergencies, to be able to take a night out with my husband, to bottle feed in closed but public places like at church, etc. However this is my second baby and he's 5 weeks nursing perfectly, so I feel this is a comfortable time to introduce pumping and very occasional bottle feeding. With my daughter I ended up having to give her formula during an emergency and it totally killed me. I wished so bad that I had breastmilk to give her/leave with her grandparents, so for my own peace of mind, having lived it, having a stash would be comforting. ❤

@@nicholejames6354 formula does not cause serious problems for babies! In rare cases, some babies may have trouble digesting regular formula, but there are other formulations for those children. I currently pump whike at work and nurse my 19 month old son on demand. I'm pregnant with our 2nd child and trying to get on top of breastfeeding as it was trial by fire for the first one lol. They gave me a pump at the hospital to use and I was so confused. And they immediately wanted me to supplement with formula day 1. This time around I am definitely going to focus on at the breast for much longer. Instead of trying to figure out how to fit a pump in my schedule until necessary. I had just enough supply with my son but it fluctuated so a low supply and I feel it was due to inconsistencies and trying to do both.

How critical is a pumping schedule? I usually pump every 2-3 hours, but it may not be at the exact time every day. Also, how impactful is pumping at night? My newborn sleeps through the night. So I am not waking her up. My last pump session is usually around 10-11pm and first pump of the day is between 5-6am... I usually only pump 1oz per breast each session so I am supplementing with formula.

My babe is 2 weeks old now and the 1st week was REALLY hard my nipples were scabbed and blead and my nipple felt like RAZOR BLADE cuts when nursing also knew he had a minor tonge tie the LC didnt understand why it was so painful or he was making clicking sounds when his latch was great and lips were puckered out all the things etc i tried just giving him a bottle with BM but he was not used to the faster milk flow and wouldeoither choke on the milk or it would poor out of his mouth all over his cloths down his neck etc so in desperation to just have him on the boob i did some youtubing at 2am and finally got him to latch and nurse where it wassnt painful! He was also falling asleep at just 1 breast and waking up screaming for more shortly after putting him down, since making it a priority to keep track of when he nurses and time each side ill do the Left and time it when he falls asleep ill then undress and chsnge his diaper which he hates and then ill put him to the other breast and time that and when he usually nurses 20 ish mins each side varies by a minute or 2 but he always sleeps for the next few hours! And that has been the routine since and he finally has stretches of sleep and i can get stuff done and deal with my other 3 kids. I will say the mornings are very very hard he wakes to nurse between 6:45am-7:15ish and i nurse him by time hes done its 7:30 and im scrambling to get my oldest up and on the buss by 7:50 then he want to nurse around 8:15-30 and i have to leave the house at 8:50 to get my other 2 to sxhool by 9 and since being home with the baby we have been 10-15 minutes late everyday its driving me nuts i cant seem to get the morning down! On top of that i want to pump throught the day even though im EBF him i want to have a stash put back to use for baths, to make pop cycles for teething, medicine "pumping when im sick for all those extra goodies in the milk i can then make little melts when hes sick or even just extra milk for when i want to go get my hair done eventually or take a long bath and just for mt pieve of mind bc i never feel like i have enough even though he doesnt empty my milk makers. I havent been pumping lately bc my pump broke but i use the hakka on one side while he nurses on the other to catch the letdown and usually get 2 oz from that and i freeze it.

@ValarieIsBeauty Жыл бұрын
12 ozs a day is actually a lot for a baby that is still nursing from the breast at one week old. Usually your milk supply shouldn’t be of concern unless your child isn’t gaining weight, or is showing signs of dehydration. You also should take into consideration your baby is emptying your breast, hopefully until they are content. Anything after that is considered an oversupply. Babies who do not have latch issues will extract the right amount of milk for themselves. If you’re trying to build a stash, you can pump one time a day, at the morning feed (6/7am) in conjunction with nursing. Your stash will be more than enough when you return to work. Over complicating the process may stress you out too much. I’ve nursed three children in the past 6 years and tried not to stress too much over pumping since I nurse from the breast whenever I am with my child.

This is my second baby but I have no idea what I’m doing anymore. I wasn’t able to breastfeed or pump with my first. Also tonhave someone else babysit so I can have a date night. Have a bottle ready so I don't have a screaming baby in the car. I don't work a neat 9-5 job. I work 12 hr rotating shifts. I don't even get to eat lunch at the same time every day. Sometimes, I get caught up in a 4-6 hr test procedure or maintenance. So I may not gwt to pump for 6-7 hrs at work. So, I started pumping early. I should have about 350 oz saved by the time I go to work. With my other 3 babies I ended up having to combo feed by 2-3 months. I want to try to go longer. I pump between 8-12 oz a day extra on top of nursing. Previously, I would wait for the recommended 4-6 weeks before pumping, and I have never had this much milk in my freezer. Maybe 24 oz max in the freezer. I could never keep up with my pumping at work. When I was a just "enough supplier," I could never pump enough to keep up. I’m a mom of a 5 month old (adjusted age is 3.5 months) and I’m lucky if I get 3-4 pumps in a day. He was born 7 weeks early, and spent 3+ weeks in the NICU. After he transitioned off the gevage, We were able to breastfeed a few times a day until about a month ago, at which point he seems wholly disinterested in the nursing 😩 As such, we’re giving him my expressed milk and supplementing when necessary. I’m not yet back at work, I’m wondering about the logistics of how people manage to pump 8-12 times per day, and wondering if it’s too late to try to implement a schedule to increase my supply. Ideally, I’d love to bring him back to the breast, but in the interim, I’d be interested in increasing my number of pump sessions first. Any suggestions are welcome! For reference, I use the spectra s1 and pump for about 30 minutes typically, with a power pump if I have time.

Sorry mom's," I may be an over supplier. It's bothersome because my baby is only 3 weeks old and she only exercises on one breast and rarely empties it. The other breast is left alone with let down milk and lately I've been hand expressing with the haakaa. So I use a haakaa which caused me to become an over supplier by using it improperly these last 3 weeks, starting since my baby was born on oct 5.. ( I didn't know to just let it the haakaa hang from my breast and catch my let down milk, instead I was suctioning it each time I fed my baby). Which I believe causes me to be in this position of overflowing milk. I make 3 to 4 5oz bottles within 24hrs a day, my baby feeds on my breast every 12xs in 24hrs. I am getting confused because I feel like she's eating too much from me. She also is well at taking a bottle and she will drink plenty of milk if she's woke within an hour time bottle and breast, up to 3to4oz. She was 37 weeks born and she's 40 weeks today. How can I slow things down as far as feedings and milk supply? In order for me to get a plan going for work in 3 weeks. I am getting overwhelmed because it seems like she's never gonna stop eating from my breast every 2 hours which seems like it's saying to my body I need more milk. I need help on trying to find a way to switch it up from brest to bottle without using the breast pump right now, because I'm afraid of more milk coming. It's painful and I feel like my milk needs to leave with my baby each feed, or just about each feed from her feedings. It's building up inside of me which caused her to not fully empty my breast because of to much milk. Can anyone help me figure out what to do. I want to go through this process this time instead of quitting like I did in 2022 having my first child being an over supplier and strictly pumping back then. What can do in my breastfeeding journey! She's getting plenty of milk from the breast you can hear it as she swallows. She gets bottles every now and then. My problems just started occurring this last week. She always have gas like bowl movements, is that normal? Blowout gas and bowl movement sounding just about every diaper.

Now he is almost 8 months old and now things are different settled in not living with people anymore and someone told me I can try and relactate, I have a few drops they are already yellow but now I need help to continue. Is there anybody who can relate?

Can you do a video for 12h shift nurse's pumping schedule? I am breastfeeding and pumping 1 hour after that. I was exclusively pumping before I started breastfeeding my babe. So I have to empty my breast completely, otherwise, I may have clogged duct

What if your a stay at home mom so you can exclusively breastfeed but you need some milk for when you need to leave baby for appointments or anything else? 😅

A lot of moms have a very small stash, 4 or 5 bags in the freezer from pumping at random times. No need to over think it :)
