I'm definitely struggling. I'm pumping and breastfeeding and supplementing with formula. I had to because my son lost too much weight and that was really scary. With the price of formula and the shortage/recalls. I wish I could just make more milk. But they say some breast milk is better than none. It's been 2 months and I don't want to give up. I wish I could just stay home and breastfeed all day! I do on my days off. It's my favorite thing to do

I think I had low output and letdown with my first 2 children. My breast did get really large and heavy, but my baby would still drink a full bottle after breastfeeding. So my lactation consultant wanted to check how much I could pump. With the pump I only got really small amounts of milk, maximum of 5ml. So it looked like my children just weren't getting enough milk. Meanwhile my breast kept getting larger. It was very confusing. My lactation consultant didn't know what to do when my breasts started to get really engorged and hot. I decided to quit at that point, and luckily my breast went back to normal. Breastfeeding was never painful and I actually enjoyed it. Pumping on the other hand was very painful and destroyed my nipples. She gave me different sizes to try, but it was always agony. I wonder if my body is just not able to breastfeed efficiently. Or if maybe it will be more comfortable for me to try hand expressing next time, to hopefully get things going. I'm pregnant with my third, and would love to finally be able to breastfeed 😢

NICU lactation consultant explicitly told me my daughter being 10 weeks premature and IUGR had nothing to do with my low supply when I asked. She didn’t know about flange sizes either, said low supply wasn’t really a thing, and flip flopped on a lot of other things she’d told me. I resent all that misinformation she dealt out for how much we struggled both with supply and my daughter not eating (ending up with a g tube to go home).

Hi. Thank you for your videos. They've been super helpful! I am a little surprised, though, that I am not seeing other conditions mentioned. Our baby had a frenulum back tie that made latching and pulling out milk difficult, thereby causing low supply. In my search for answers, this seems to be missed as a potential milk supply issue. If the supply diminished early on because it took time to fix the tie and latch, how would one increase supply again? I've been struggling with this and never saw an increase in supply after our baby's tie was fixed.

Hey! I’m a new mom. Baby will be 1 month tomorrow. I am breastfeeding, pumping (trying) , and doing formula. My problem is that when I pump I only get 1-2 ounces out and to me that’s discouraging. When my baby was 2 weeks I was increasing ounces when pumping (up to 5.5 ounces) but that dropped 3rd week. Idk why. Just learned about the flanges so maybe that’ll be a difference because I was using size 27mm and when I measure my nipple it measures at 18mm. But anywho when I breastfeed I can see all the signs that my baby is getting milk (long sucks, hear him taking deep swallows, milk around the lips) and he even gets the “drunk “ look after feeding lol but it’s discouraging when I only pump 1 ounce now. I pump because I just would like to have some milk stored for the days I choose to sleep in bc this is tiresome.

The question I have is, my son is 2months old. I am nursing, pumping, and storing milk for when I return to work. I will nurse him, and than pump afterwards to get any milk left out. Is it normal to pump from both breast and get nothing from one.Then one breast maybe à ounce. My breast are soft so I figured he drained it while nursing. I looked it up and found little information. I don't believe I have a low supply. If I pump before nursing him I get 2-4oz. I have quite à stash on the freezer.

@Anna-tc6rz
@Anna-tc6rz Жыл бұрын
Did you stimulate yourself before measuring? If your lactation consultant can't measure for you and suggest where to start I'd get another opinion. Assuming you are 17mm I'd suggest you try 19 or 21 mm. Google "symptoms of too big flange vs too small" there's lots of good charts to help you find the right one!
