We are commanded to love our neighbors as ourselves and Jesus said people will know we are his followers by the love we show others. In Mathew it says we must forgive in order to be forgiven. Just because someone existed and some of the bible may be historically true does not prove the whole bible is historically true like god creating in 6 days , a talking donkey in Numbers book i think, or lots wife being turned to a pillar of salt. Even if there was a jesus you would still need to prove he was the son of god, and was resurrected etc.
