🔰This video was shot on Mount Ossa, a mountain next to Olympus in Greece. This place doesn't enjoy international fame but it's just as beautiful as Olympus, this video showcases this underappreciated beauty. The poem selected has been echoing through in my mind the last few months because I was busy with my career as an engineer and I was finding excuses to not create content for this channel. Charles Bukowski had the most romantic answer with his poem to this problem of creativity and even though it's not applicable to the world of realism that we inhabit, it remains undeniably inspirational and beautiful. I hope you like the poem and the video.
Forever Humbled,
a kid with a camera
P.S. The beautiful voice that you hear belongs to Iness and this video would not be possible without her contribution and her dedication.

🔰Air and Light and Time and Space by Charles Bukowski
you know, I’ve either had a family, a job,
something has always been in the
way
but now
I’ve sold my house, I’ve found this
place, a large studio, you should see the space and
the light.
for the first time in my life I’m going to have
a place and the time to
create.”
no baby, if you’re going to create
you’re going to create whether you wor
k 16 hours a day in a coal mine
or
you’re going to create in a small room with 3 children
while you’re on
welfare,
you’re going to create with part of your mind and your
body blown
away,
you’re going to create blind
crippled
demented,
you’re going to create with a cat crawling up your
back while
the whole city trembles in earthquake, bombardment,
flood and fire.
baby, air and light and time and space
have nothing to do with it
and don’t create anything
except maybe a longer life to find
new excuses
for.

A thought filled poem about how creativity doesn’t come from where you are physically, rather it’s a state of mind. It ’s the human will to still create, through whatever hardship and pain; and that maybe air and light and time and space is only a tool we can use to distract us away from creativity. For when we have the luxury of all that, there is no pressure and no will to want to create beautiful art

Absolutely beautiful. Your endeavours seek something out there to capture what already exists. A new way to see things. Appreciate things. Looking better at sights already seen. I believe it, I live it. Creating in a "nice, conducive to" create environment doesn't work as well! Chaos, uncertainty, and plans blown away and a little confusion can add the edge that truly great creations need.... the ones that last and are real. Forged in fire, in a way, is good.

I’ve watched this about 25 times since discovering it last night and just wanted to mention some of the things that keep bringing me back. I can’t get over the note-perfect blend of elements here. The narrator. The music. The text. The film shots - colors, composition, movement, light. I’m positive I’ve read this poem before but I didn’t remember anything about it, so I came in fresh to this video. The opening is stanza is SO beautifully read - it’s long-breath-out soothing, and the mental picture painted is reinforced by the visuals and the music; everything is so lovely. The thing Iness gives this stanza that Bukowski doesn’t is the sincere heart behind it. This place - it’s not a bad thing to want! Every creative person dreams of endless hours of time to create in a large studio oasis full of sunlight. Not remembering how this poem went, I was so happy for and so jealous of this so-hopeful narrator. My favorite moment in the entire video is the way Iness says “you should see the space and the light” and you cut to that lit up spiderwebbed bush and the violins enter. And then there’s a perfectly spaced pause before we jump into stanza 2, and we get that “no, baby” that is so gently delivered but so effective at the same time. No, the dream is never the reality - and we creatives get to see ourselves held up and known and encouraged by C.B. to create in the dark crowded lives we are living, and it just - feels like this love letter to all those past versions of me, us, awake at 2 a.m. with an alarm set for 6 a.m. and unable to fall asleep until we get that idea scratched out. The delivery of these lines in Iness’ beautiful voice makes me want to give her the biggest hug. I smile every time she says “sixteen hours a day in a coal mine.” And then stanza 3, that wind added in - that was the perfect touch. I want to mention how much I love that you chose a day in the sunlit mountains as the backdrop for this poem, with hints of cameras and guitars but mostly focused on the beauty of the land and landscape and the people there together. I also didn’t register until around watch #24 that you staggered your settings with the stanzas - the first one is grounded, the second is in motion, the third is windy - a masterful composition, and the fact that it flows together without being obvious is particularly well done. We close with the last of my favorite line deliveries: “Air and light and time and space - have nothing to do with it.” I don’t know Iness as anything but a voice but she says this so kindly, so matter of factly, like someone who understands what it is to wish for that sweet dream of air and light and time, or fear that nothing worthwhile can be made without it; but also knows that the process of creating isn’t a place we enter but that we carry inside us everywhere we go. It’s such an affirming statement to someone (me) who is currently very far from air and light and time and space (or sleep). Thank you so much for giving this to us! I know I’ll be back again to watch it another 250 times, and will be sharing it with every creative person I know. I look forward to seeing all the realized projects that are still coming into being - both from you and every creative person watching this ♡

This is a delight for me... I love deep thoughtful poems, Charles Bukowski's poetry and spoken word! 😎 Such profound truth in this message that most of us probably don't want to hear... but we can't deny it's true. There's so many things in my life I'd like to be resolved, but the reality is, I've never stopped creating despite the multitude of things that are wrong and I can do nothing about. I create spoken word poetry myself and love finding new spoken poems, I might share this to my poetry website some time... I'm sure my readers would love this. I'm also a photographer... absolutely admiring the videography you've taken!👏 Yes... keep on creating... you are doing a great service to those who need this kind of thought and creativeness to keep them going another day.
