Finally a truthful boat ramp guide. Tells it like it is
@DonziGT2303 жыл бұрын
I was at a ramp where someone left their ski floating in the way behind me to drive his car to the lot. When it finally drifted just far enough for me to back in I went fast enough to push a lot of water which also pushed the ski out a ways. My prop wash combined with the the breeze to give him a nice swim to the ski. Then he realized that he'd left his lanyard in the car. Don't be a ramp hog!

@@uncleanswer6488 Not my fault he left his ski adrift blocking the ramp for a very long time, that's a total d!ck move. Also not my fault that the breeze was blowing away from shore. I backed my boat in fast enough to push the ramp blocker out of my way enough so that I could get the boat off the trailer, the rest was luck. Perhaps it was mean, but I'd probably do it again. There was lots of space for him to leave his ski where it wouldn't block the ramp. He was going to have to swim to it even if I hadn't done anything, launching my boat just made it a longer swim and hopefully a lesson he'll remember. As I idled past the swimmer I told him that he should never leave a vessel blocking the ramp, just to make sure he knew.

Gotta love those twin "outboards", but you don't want them to be too big, because that's being dangerously overpowered, and they could hurt you. Too small and they lack in enough raw power to get on top and have any fun with. The twins on that boat were just right
@DonziGT2302 жыл бұрын
It's only dangerously overpowered if you exceed the boat manufacturer's rated limit.

@@meauxjeaux431 Ahhh, gotcha. I've never handled a pair that I felt were too big and very rarely see them....go big or go home! I've also had fun with 2HP dinghies, I aint too picky as long as it's a fun ride.
@meauxjeaux4312 жыл бұрын
@@DonziGT230 You actually made me LOL...THANKS ! Actually, I don't mind the small outboards because even thought they don't get you to your final destinationm as fast, they still get you there. I had a couple of big outboards, and they are definitly more than a handfull. They can be quite dangerous too, especially once you get them on top and they get going good. They are hard to stop, and God forbid they hit something that you weren't expecting. I found that the mid sized ones are more economical, and give me a lot less trouble. Not only that, but you don't need a big fancy boat in order to handle them. Now, they have smaller outboards that you can have a mechanic implant a couple of big aftermarket pistons into the original jugs, but they don't handle the same as the ones that come stock. So why go through all that trouble since they are more likely to breakdown, wear out, and rattle ?
@DonziGT2302 жыл бұрын
@@meauxjeaux431 A boat I owned way back.....well, actually I guess it was more of a lease, slapped me in the face with her starboard motor so hard it hurt, and my buddy in the garage on the other side of a wall heard the impact. She was a late model boat, the motors were barely broken in, still tight and powerful. But the slightest wave and she'd send you right over the gunnel. The current boat's motors are pretty well relaxed, and she might have a sagging transom, but still a pair of big ole 250s. More importantly, she's very economical and it's always smooth sailing, that's worth more than hard chines and a flashy gelcoat.

I understand they are designed for wakeboarding and tricks but I think it’s very dangerous. But they are making millions and I like to sit inside the boat facing forward….there are always some oncoming wakes or quick take offs. JMO!! Thanks for your great video I really enjoy them!!
