My Dad would have done exactly 💯 the same to me or my many siblings. 🙄 🙃 I have no doubt. He had us smuggling drugs and other crap AS LITTLE KIDS. He beat loyalty into our heads but had none towards us. As a result, two of us defied the life, we two oldest. My brother and I independently put ourselves through college. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor. My brother became a Chief of Police in the Rio Grande Valley, TX. The five siblings that we know have struggled, seriously. We have three more whom we never even met. My Dad was a piece of work but at the end of the day, it will make you or break you. You choose! You hear that? You choose! Believe me, it was not easy to break that chain. But, you must. You MUST for the sake of your kids, you MUST! I am now 60. Hindsight is 20/20. But, young people, trust me. Sometimes, you got to put your parents in the past and define the future of the family. That's real family loyalty. That's real love. 💯

you’re living proof that pressure makes diamonds, but my heart breaks that there is even one child that has had to live through this, let alone the fact that this is reality for so many kids in so many cities. Children shouldn’t have to deal with the worst life has to give them when they deserve all the love and support necessary to allow them to grow into the best person possible. I don’t have kids but when I look at my niece and nephew laughing and playing, I know in my heart I’d lay down my life for them if it came to it. It is unfathomable to me that someone could be so twisted. It makes me very happy to read that you became a counselor, as someone just like you saved my life over 5 years ago, and you can empathize with these kids that feel like they have no one else to help them. Ending the cycle of abuse is hard, but it is the most valuable thing one can do.

I snitched on my son when he was a juvenile for holding (in my house)a small bag of marijuana which was in about 70 individual baggies He was being groomed by older guys who were using him to hold the drugs while they would deal. I did not give any names just my sons and asked the cops to search my house and 'find' them ( where I knew he had them hidden). There had been young boys beaten and one 17 year old was dismembered by drug gangs around that time. I snitched on my son to have him taken into a secure school. It turned him around, he got his act together. He is alive and working towards college. I nipped it before it got out of hand. I know I did the right thing, noone else was implicated.

Would I implicate my son to gain exoneration for myself? Likely no. Would I turn in my son if I knew he was a dirty murderer? Sure. I would teach my son right from wrong from the start. This seems a little different, he's in trouble, as well as his son and he's throwing his son under the bus just to try to get a better deal for himself in jail. Agree completely that Brian Laundrie's parents were fkin idiots and should've kept him at the house and when he left, they should've contacted the police IMMEDIATELY. Good, loving parents won't hide a crime their child did (such as a murder in Brian's Case) but sellin your son out to get a lighter jail sentence for yourself isn't the same thing. If police ever showed up at my parents lookin for me, my parents wouldn't protect/hide me and if it was a murder they thought or knew that I did, they would turn me in. Brian Laundrie's parents not only protected him, they let him leave probably knowing he was going to commit suicide, either way tho his blood is on their hands, I totally blame Brian's parents for Brian's Death.

@@apollo105That's not the police asking the questions--it's a prosecutor. But anyway, I don't know that this was done without a plan. I don't see this being a move volunteered by this man. I see it happening like the State offered less time for his clean-up statement, and he accepted that offer. That offer and acceptance would likely have been reduced to writing. His attorney is sitting right there and is not making a move to silence him from his testimony. If there were no offer for this information, I imagine the attorney would not have even let this man appear for an interview/deposition. That suggests to me that there IS a plan or some sort of agreement between the parties that he will cooperate in exchange for leniency.

In general, I respect a parent who would snitch on their child, especially for something as serious as murder. Their actions need to have consequences and you should only protect them so much before they need to take responsibility. But well this seemed like a parent who was only concerned for his own self-being and raised his children into a life of crime, and then his son ended up being a murderer, so... I don't feel sorry for either one of them.

Thats because you suffer fron deep indoctrination. What if the ones they killed were suffering the consequences from ther own actions. What if without their actions, they wouldn't have been killed. What's disturbing is that you like most default to the indoctrination.

@@ArchieRatsworth I semi agree but because he was being charged with the same thing and had committed crimes before he might as well keep his mouth shut since he led him down that life and they're in the same boat. Now on the other hand if the dad was innocent I wouldn't care if he snitched on his sons the kids should have known the consequences of his actions. Just because someone is family doesn't mean you give everything to them, or defend them when they're in the wrong and should pay for it. People say blood is thicker than water but I say water is sweeter than blood. Your true family is the family you make.

I guess the way I feel about it is: if a parent does anything they can to protect their child, even if they are guilty, it's understandable and okay. But if a parent also revealed their child's guilt for a serious crime like murder, out of conscience and wanting to do the right thing, and thinking they need to face the consequences, that's also okay. Of course in this case, it seems more like he is trying to reveal the details for his own sake, rather than any principles...

My dad set me up to be arrested twice, once when I was just 17. He did it because he'd just been arrested for strangulation of a child (me) and wanted to save his own ass. I used to sell weed to smoke for free (I had a job too) and it drove him crazy that he couldn't ever find it and used it to get himself off the strangulation charge. I imagine the cops asked him why he strangled his kid to which he told them I was a drug dealer and they said prove it. He just had a stroke a couple of weeks ago and I don't really feel much about it, like you said parents should protect (as well as provide for) their kids.

I feel like what’s more shameful than snitching on a son is that the son allegedly murdered someone? It seems like that was left out of this equation completely. Did I miss something? How about ‘let’s not murder’ be the message? 😅 Edit: I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I’m not from a ‘family of criminals’ as some of the comments are saying about this family. If my son committed murder in cold blood, I think I would feel a duty to go to the police for fear of it happening again. Is that snitching? Or is that doing the right thing? Does familial loyalty trump the victims’ rights to getting justice? Or is it only ‘snitching’ because the family of this guy is already in crime? Is it snitching just because the father’s motive is saving his own skin and not doing the right thing? The result is still the same, though- the victim and his family are getting justice. It feels like a double standard, but I can’t put my finger on it. (This is all for friendly discussion, I’m not trying to finger-wag Bruce or anyone in the comments!) what do y’all think?
@mmnyla

@vinceishere8058

This being a family of criminals, I would say snitching is probably for the worst. I only say that because I guarantee somewhere along the line, the father committed a crime, and the son did not snitch. I’m just assuming of course. And I say no simply because the father introduced the life of crime to his son. I guess it depends on the circumstance. In this circumstance, he should’ve kept quiet. It’s basically like teaching your son to be a thief and then ratting him out. Now if I had a son and I never raised him to be a criminal and he just happened to become a psycho serial killer that prayed on innocents. I would probably throw his ass under the bus. But this father is kind of a hypocrite in this situation.
@Abingdale
@Abingdale Жыл бұрын
@@vinceishere8058 but even so, isn’t it for the best that he confess his son’s sins? Like, even if the motive is bad, isn’t it still better that a murderer is behind bars? I guess what I’m saying is, even if it’s for the wrong reasons, isn’t it better for us all that he did?

If you let your kids get a way with that shit, who knows what they'd do next. They should be held accountable for their actions, especially if you're their parent, it's literally your JOB to teach them that, or society will.
