Gideon is not heartless. There were a LOT of pretty deep layers to him that we never got the chance to explore. I'm still mad that he ran away with his tail between his legs without giving the team (especially Reid) a proper goodbye. BUT the reason that ticks me off is that I think better of him than that, I think of him as a better person than that. Favorite Character: Reid Favorite Episode: The Popular Kids - We don't just see the dynamic between Morgan and Reid, we see some of the development of it. Least Favorite Episode: Poison - I just don't find it that interesting

Hotch was the Unit Chief. HIS office was at the top of the stairs, not Gideon's. Later on, HE had to deal with Strauss and, of course , did the hiring (including Prentiss, and later revealed, Garcia) and firing. Elle quit right before he fired her.

Caitlyn, my most favorite parts of Season 1 was the continuing stories involving Hotch, Gideon, Morgan, Reid and Elle's lives. My least favorite parts of Season 1 was very little was done about Garcia and JJ. In Elle's train episode JJ was there with Gideon and the others but you hardly even saw her. Either somebody was standing in front of her or she didn't do or say much the whole time they were thinking of ways to save Elle and the other passengers from the unsub. When Reid said "Can at least one of you look like you're going to see me again?" they didn't even try showing JJ with a worried look on her face or having her saying "Good luck, Spence." Plus, JJ wasn't even in every Season 1 episode! And, of course Garcia wasn't even on the beginning credits until Season 2! And the Season Finale, "The Fisher King" I thought that it was bs when everybody was taking a vacation away from Quantico except JJ. Plus Garcia could have been playing against Sir Kneif at home instead of her lair! That unsub already had stolen the personal information about the BAU. JJ and Garcia wise, Seasons 2 and up had better stories for both of them. I would like you to continue with these favorite episodes of Seasons 2 and up. I want to hear your thoughts about Elle leaving and Emily coming in and what you thought about Erin Strauss and Will LaMontange Jr. and unsubs like Carl Buford, Tobias Hankel and Frank. And Season 3, I want to hear your thoughts about Gideon's departure, Hotch's divorce, Rossi coming in, Garcia being shot, meeting Kevin Lynch, JJ getting pregnant and unsubs like Floyd Feylinn Ferrell and Jason Clark Battle. And Seasons 4 and up as well. Keep on giving us your opinions, young lady!

I just found this video and I love it! Season 1 has such great episodes ♥ Also, huuge comment unrelated to Criminal Minds coming your way: You need to watch Psych! The guy who plays the unsub in LDSK is a main character in that show. The show ended, but the fandom (small but mighty! and we are called psychos :)) loves the show and cast and crew so much that ALL of the characters and cast have made three movies together! The third came out this year, and they plan on making more for as long as they can. Some say the first two seasons aren't the best, but this is just because the show gets even better as it goes on! On Facebook there is a group I am in for Psych fans that has some of the cast as admins (although they don't do anything except for one character who occasionally has fans send in cooking videos for this contest he does) and the guy who runs it is in contact with the cast so we have had props donated to our group for contests, video messages, signed shirts, etc. We are small compared to other fandoms, but that's what makes it more fun :)

There was one other peek into Hotch's past but it was in Season 8: episode 23: "Brothers Hotchner" when Hotch told Rossi what he and his brother Sean were like growing up together.

Now I know what I sound like when I talk about Reid!I love Gideon,he's amazing and has so many great lines.I love the idea,although I can't rank the episodes of season 1.Hope you mention Empty Planet in next video,it's one of my TOP 10 episodes ever.Maybe you could do something like TOP character moments for each of them in each season.Or maybe BAU fan stuff,like them eating popcorn in season two,episode 2x22 I think.

Hi Caitlin 👋 just discovered your reaction videos of criminal minds and I have to say I really enjoyed them. I'm a huge fan of criminal minds it's my go to show. It's very addicting lol. Idk why but the quotes in the episodes stick to me. I seem to remember a lot of them without intending to lol. Love your top 5 list too btw👌. I wish more people would do criminal minds reaction vids. I posted to my friends a description of them as a family, and I wanted to post it here because you’re so awesomely into it, and maybe you could talk about it in a video somehow idk, but here it is: Every now and then a team member goes to Hotch and says “I need to tell you something.” It’s always a secret they have to fix as a team, it’s always big, and he always jumps right in with very little judgement (like the amazing big brother he is). The family is the incredibly important strength of the show. So I wanted to describe how I see the family and see how you see it, so comment below if you see it differently... just for funsies. Gideon (The Dad)- I know Gideon hasn’t been around for a long time, but as a founding member and the person that almost all of our team first worked under or trained with, I see him as their father. I don’t think the show would have removed him if the actor didn’t want to leave, but if they had gone the way they did with the story I think they would have had him return for certain events, such as JJ’s wedding, I don’t think he would have worked on cases, but I do think when the teams life was at stake, like when the replicator attacked, or when Reid was dealing with his girlfriend’s stalker, he would have at least advised, because of his love for them, I like to believe this happened, we just didn’t see it. Hotch (The Eldest Son/Big Brother)- Hotch is the classic Big Brother. He always let dad take the lead with the team, but took care of the family as the head of it the older “dad” got, when their “father” left he took full charge (and brought in Uncle Rossi, but I’ll get to that next). He keeps a lot to himself, because he feels like he has to be the strongest and keep the rest of the kids going, and when he breaks, the whole family is lost until he regains his composure. Rossi (Uncle)- Rossi was the Uncle that had been around a lot when Hotch was a kid, but left the family for awhile to write his books, when he returned, it was because dad needed to step away and he wanted to protect his family and the work his “brother” Gideon and he had created. He has little dinners with the kids, he’s the cool uncle guy, but he is a fierce protector of them, and they can always trust him to listen and advise. Cool Uncle Rossi lol J.J. (Big Sister)- J.J. is the second sibling, she doesn’t have as much on her plate as Hotch, but in her way she quietly does just as much for her family. She holds a lot inside and does a lot for her family quietly, (like when Prentiss had to be “killed,” she was the one who set everything up, comforted the others, played scrabble with her “sister” while she was supposedly dead so she didn’t feel so alone, and brought her back when she needed to return. Not to mention all the paperwork and files she used to have to go through before they removed her from the show back in the day). She is fiercely protective of her little siblings, especially Reid, and her and Hotch run the family with ease. Prentiss and Morgan (The Twins 👯)- I see these two as twin middle siblings. They sometimes have great responsibilities, but their big siblings always guide them through it, they are super protective of Reid, and turn to their big siblings, uncle, and previously the dad, whenever they’re in trouble, even if they don’t ask for the help directly, they are protected by the others. Even the way they talk to each other is like twins that just understand each other like no one else, there is never romantic intentions with them, but there is a deep chemistry between the two, they just work off each other like twins would. Reid (Baby Brother)- we all know this one right? He’s everyone’s baby. He was for sure Gideons baby boy, he is certainly the baby nephew for Rossi, and the “sisters and brothers” protect him more seriously than anyone else in the series (equal only to their own kids). And he gets so sad when something is wrong with his big siblings, and so hurt when they lie to him or hide things “for his own good.” He’s just a classic baby brother. Garcia (The Sister-In-Law)- Now this might be a huge issue for you guys. I am not saying that she isn’t as important or close to the other’s, and I know that her and Morgan have never had a physical relationship, but I just see her as his wife. For me she is like the sister-in-law that has just always been around, so much so that she’s literally part of the family. She’s best friends with J.J. and Prentiss, she sees Reid as her little brother completely, she respects Hotch as an older brother, but she’s not a child of Gideon or niece of Rossi, they all have completely accepted her into the family, they love her with all their heart, she’s always been vital to their lives, she’s Morgan’s “wife,” but just as loved as Morgan or anyone else in the family, and if anyone tried to hurt her, the others are just as protective as with any of the others, but Morgan... well he goes nuts, because she’s his number one lady. Okay, that’s it, I know I’m missing Elle, and all the others that came after, they all could mix in as siblings, aunts, cousins, friends, but these are my core, this is the family for me. What do you think? Feel free to add the others in, leave some out, change things around, I just want a fun chat about it.

Now let's talk about Gideon. In some cases I feel like the fandom oversimplifies everything. Like if they hate a character they hate everything about that said character. Now in some cases criticism is valid. But people need to need to have a deeper analogy. Gideon acts extremely distant to most characters on the show is because his passion is both his strength and weakness. When he actually does care he cares way to much. Like the way he dealt with the woman in 1×14 he thought she was innocent and she shouldn't be executed. The woman Sarah I think says that her kid must be safer without her because her life is messed up. And the kid Riley's life wouldn't be so messed up. She also staged the killing in order to keep him away from Jacob. Gideon said no she is innocent she shouldn't be executed but gave up and let it happen. At the end you could see the guilt in his face. Even crying about it.
