I think it's fucking hilarious Rock is referencing Willie Nelson. People like that often cite the "Outlaw" country artists like Nelson and Haggard as influences and think they're cool....but they were guys who were counter culture heroes and more like hippies than the Statler Brothers or Brooks and Dunn types. They were people who were against authoritarianism and conservatism of traditional mainstream country artists...ya know...Outlaws.

The thing I think makes them good is that he only does them every now and then. I feel like if you try to be the "Get a look at this." guy all of the time, it loses the impact. Nobody is really swimming in cringe like that... and talking about it, I mean. So at some point, it's gonna be phoned-in. Just a natural progression imo. Like, imagine if all that you did was seek out, publish, and comment on cringe. Like, that's your here to there. It's beyond human limits to do that and still feel anything about it. It hurts my soul to even think about. Anthony avoids that by only doing them when he has cringe gold. You never expect it, and that works out pretty well.

And thanks, Anthony, for the heads-up on Kid Schlock actually NOT growing up in a Michigan trailer park. On the other hand, Iggy Pop DID grow up in a Michigan trailer park, so maybe if Kid Rock had, his music might not suck as much!

I was 11 when Kid Rock's All Summer Long came out and I smelled a rat when he plagiar- I mean sampled Sweet Home Alabama and/or Werewolves of London. My boyfriend tells me the album was an homage to classic rock. I'm all for homage, but idk sampling a bunch of good songs to make your own subpar songs sure felt like a convenient creative decision. (EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm well aware that sampling is a thing. There's plenty of times it can be done well and one can understand why the sample was used. Maybe they were used in an inventive way or made an actually good song. However, there's plenty of other songs where it falls flat on it's face and I feel that All Summer Long is one of them.)

lol, i love kid rock blaming on "millenials" when we were pretty much his audience. i mean this was the exact type of sound that the guy was selling us back in the days. we were the teenagers at the time that bought records, and a lot of us did buy some of his stuff (not me, but i was part of the target audience, no doubt about it). i really cant understant how he is so out of depth, but i guess some folks just never grow up. at least limp bizkit never took themselves very seriously - which now is a great advantage. i mean we are snowflakes why? because we actually listened and bought your music in 2000?

I always say this when I see anything Kid Rock and I’ll repeat it here, my cousins grew up across the street from Bob Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock. He just used to be little Bobby Ritchie to me, a smart ass kid that grew up in an upper middle class family, his father owned a Ford Dealer outside of Romeo Michigan. He actually lived in Bruce Township which is outside the town of Romeo Michigan and he lived on about 5 acres, my cousins and I would ride dirt bikes on his property and his father would allow us to, my cousins grew up upper middle class as my uncle was an engineer for General Dynamics, I grew up blue collar, but spent a lot of time in the summers staying with my cousins. His entire poor country hick persona is complete BS. He grew up a rich little white kid and my favorite part of knowing him when he was a pre-teen and teenager was getting to punch him once for picking on my cousin’s friend’s sister one day. He was just a loud mouthed annoying kid. Cut to some years later and I was working in a record/CD shop in the Detroit area and he came in to sell his rap tapes, those albums went over big with white suburban kids and it used to make me laugh, but hey, he found his audience and ran with it, then when he shifted more towards country and rock and I heard that song “All Summer Long” it made me cringe and then laugh out loud as he ripped off so many riffs from other songs in that dreadful song. He’s made a lot of money now and it just shows that faking a persona in the music industry can lead to success even when you have absolutely nothing to say in your music.
