I know I'm way late in commenting on this, but this is like my 3rd watch of this and I just now registered the Uncle Kracker reference. When I was 17ish I dated a steel guitar player who turned out to be way more into playing steel guitar than he was into wooing me. The one fun benefit of that whole bag of fuckery was the fact that there are roughly 12 steel guitar players in the entire world who all know each other, so I got to go to the annual steel guitar player conference in Nashville; we got there on Uncle Kracker's tour bus because the bus driver was part of the steel player mafia and was repositioning it for a tour, so he invited us to ride along. Because there are only roughly 12 steel guitar players in the entire world, he knew all the country singers I grew up listening to and thought it was super cool that I was picking up his references, so that's how I ended up talking to Merle Haggard on a bag phone at a truck stop in bumfuck Tennessee, lol.

Rumor has it, Monster Truck heard “Show Me How to Live” by Audioslave and practiced his Chris Cornell voice for weeks. After multiple jam sesh’s, he and his band (the F-150’s) headed for their favorite sports bar to give it a shot. To Monster Truck’s surprise, Kid Rock was in his little home town after a successful mission trip owning the libs. Mr Rock had just received his first plate of chili cheese fries as Monster Truck was stepping up on stage…Truck locked eyes with Rock and his palms began to sweat. He found himself griping his B.C. Rich harder than he ever had - he knew it was now or never. He closed his eyes, pictured Chris Cornell and started to rip. While chopping his throat for the Show Me How to Live outro, he opened his eyes and noticed Rob Ritchie’s jaw was slack and his Chili Cheese fry was hanging out the side. After the song, Kid Rock simply pointed at his El Camino and whispered “get in”. The rest is history.

Hard agree on the Cornell, but think it's more of a Cochise personally. Even has the same little slide/hammer on thing at the start of the riff, except instead of sliding from the D he's landing on the D because he's drop tuned. Beato. So definitely some Cornell in there, not to mention the obvious lyrical references to Show Me How to Live.

As a Canadian, I don't know how much exposure Monster Truck has gotten in the US as they are from Hamilton ON. So just how terrible this song actually is might not land on a lot of people here and it wasn't pointed out in this video. Monster Truck released this song like 6 years ago. Everyone up North here has had to deal with this band non-stop (thanks CAN-CON) for at least that long. All Kid Rock did was take out the verses, replace it with pro-Trump BS and sell it as something new. Its like that time Pizza Hut put hot dogs in their stuffed pizza crusts. Like who TF asked for this and why did you think this would make your crap better?

As a Canadian who's had to apologize for Finger 11, 3 Days Grace, and Nickelback, I guess I now have to apologize for Monster Truck and their stupid buttrock selling out to Rob Ritchie. Seriously, hearing them on the radio almost everyday for the past 10 years has left me with nothing good to say about them, and this song cemented that sentiment completely.

This is off topic, but I just had my first opportunity to sample a Dunkin. (I live in the no-Dunkin zone, north of what Rob Ritchie calls 'northern' Michigan.) The establishment was in a hotel. My sleepless ass wandered through the lobby and gazed mournfully at the DD, closed and not due to open for well over an hour. A gentleman popped his head out from the back room and said, "Lookin' for a coffee?" I said, "It's all good, I'll swing by when you're open." Buddy shook his head, "Nah, I just put on a pot. Cream or sugar?" I took it black, and it was damn good. He delivered one to the guy in the corner, working away on his laptop too. 10/10, Dunkin Donuts guy.

This breaks my heart. When Monster Truck first started playing up here in Canada they rocked. I had high hopes for them but it seems the closer they get to success the further they get from doing anything I like. Check out Seven Seas Blues or For The Sun. Its nothing new or groundbreaking. Just some good ol rock n roll done right. You used to be able to hear the growl of the Hammond Organ, such a heavy sound. Im not sure the organ dude is even in the band anymore. Some fun facts, song is played in Standard D not dropped D and this song was released with out the lovely Knob Ritchie a couple years ago. Its just another Sad But True style oversampled shitty mashup of Kid Rock rapping over some song he enjoyed banging hookers to. I was hoping Monster Truck would turn things around but I think its time to turn my back on them completely. Sorry Monster Truck. The shit you just stepped in will never come off your boots. World keeps getting shittier so I really shouldnt be surprised at this. Thanks again Pat for letting everyone know the bad news. People, teach your children these lessons. There may still be a chance to turn things around??..
