River Rescue was what Drinker thought was the Coast Gaurd as Pittsburgh is at the culmination of the Allegheny and Monogahela rivers. 1:24:10 Thats exactly what happens actually. Bullet weapons are called "slugthrowers" in Star Wars, an example would be the "cycler rifle" used by Tusken Raiders (they shoot at the pod race with them in Phantom Menace). When Jedi attempt to deflect the bullets the metal turns molten then burns them. It happened to Obi-Wan in a comic once. Bullet weapons are largely obsolete besides this feature though since the gas packs that power laser weapons produce far more shots for far cheaper.

That's right. And at the conference meeting, based on the crews' conversation, it seems that they've been in space dock for awhile. Uhura even said she was chairing a lecture at the academy. During the meeting, Kirk and the Enterprise are specifically assigned the task of escorting the Chancellor's ship to earth. No side missions. So why would they have equipment for cataloging gaseous anomalies aboard the Enterprise? If it was from a deleted scene then that was a failure in editing for not catching Uhura's line. Then again. Though I caught this on my very first viewing of ST:UC, I've never seen anyone comment on this until after I mentioned it to them. I really thought Drinker and Mauler would have caught this.

So a note on guns, or "slug throwers", as they're called in the Star Wars universe: First, the Tusken Raiders use slug throwers called 'cycler rifles', one of which Luke has in Episode 4, early on. Presumably it was looted from a tusken, either by one of the Larses or by someone else and then purchased by the Larses because the Tuskens wouldn't trade them with the human settlers. Second: Jedi definitely can't deflect buckshot. The Mandolorians found this out during a war with the Jedi. The jedi were deflecting their blasters (which are plasma, btw, not lasers), so the Mandolorians switched to using shotguns.

@ronaldthompson49893 ай бұрын
blaster/laser (according to Lucas era tech manuals function as plasma weapons, so slight misnomer) tech is the norm for logistical/destructive reasons but Slugthrowers (guns) have been a thing in star wars for ages. Even in films: the Tusken Raiders used them to harass the pod racers in Episode 1 And yes, they are regarded as lightsaber proof by high end mercs, and therefore worth the extra weight when tasked to jedi

Donald Sutherland's best performance was in Ordinary People. First time I saw Mary Tyler Moore in a film (but had seen oodles of giddy clips of her a million times before). She plays the worst, most monstrous mother in the world: hated her (but great acting job). Timothy Hutton played the son. Directed by Robert Redford. @BlueFireDrakka3 ай бұрын
smol star wars fact: they do in fact have "traditional" (ie: real world) guns. they're called Slugthrowers, they're just seen as a waste of resources because the slugs/bullets consume material as ammo instead of Blaster gas and are very rare because of the material waste, only one planet in remaining Canon uses Slugthrowers, and they are known for being effective against Jedi because if a Jedi tries to deflect the slug with a saber it showers them in molten metal.

Cortosis is an interesting metal from Star Wars lore. It is brittle but can cause a lightsaber to short out. If Yuri from the interrogation scene in Ryan Drake book 3 were to swing his claw hammer at the helmet it would break in pieces. If any jedi swings a light saber at, it would be ineffective.

I think Roger Moore wasn't a bad Bond, it's just that he kept playing Bond for far too long. His first Bond movies showed a much more sophisticated Bond than Connery's Bond and they are fun too watch. Later Moore Bond movies focused much more on those weird Q "inventions", that were always just a one-off gimmick and in those last Bond movies he did, he really was far too old and it was painfully obvious.

After an entire season of characters doing exactly the thing they blame the villains of doing and causing distrust among themselves, they get called out spectacularly by the one sensible character in the whole season, only for the writers to not only ruin it in the next episode, but completely assassinate said character in the next season, because they wrote him as a conflicted character instead of a scheming villain, by mistake.
