They need a "lead" character like Tony/RDJ was. They were banking on Boseman Larson and Holland. Boseman died, Larson failed to actually become popular with the audience and Holland could potentially work but has the issue with Sony that makes Marvel/Disney afraid to commit too hard with him.
@Jaaayzen8 ай бұрын
@@bob1986Larson behaved stupidly in pretty much every interview, even if not, Cpt Marvel is just so poorly written, the character would never work as a lead. Her powers seem to be unlimited and have never been explained, she never needed training of any kind (except of course kicking a man's ass). Larson's pathetic portayal combined with her smugness does the rest. People love Spiderman and seem to like Holland, but as a local hero with rather specific powers and little experience he would not be a good lead. After the last movie it would also surely rely on using the multiverse and that hasn't worked well so far.

Back when she was still having fun with her roles, and she came off fine as a character that could have fun with her fellow characters. She always seemed to be way more at ease in the smaller, independent movies. Kristen Stewart is exactly the same - whenever they are in their specialist niche films, their performances are generally overall better. Granted, it's usually because they are usually the most experienced actress in the cast, but also they don't have all that weight of carrying a billion-dollar film on them, leaving them to focus on their performances.

One of the reasons I don’t bash Brie is because, to a certain extent, she’s just parroting the company line, which is what any good soldier will do, at least in public. That goes for the other poor actors who have gotten sucked into the Rat’s nest and have come out all the worse for it. I watched part of Lessons and plan to finish it. That’s a lot more than I can say about other projects I have seen lately. Many have just bored me (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), while others have pissed me off (Rings of Power), the latter of which I protest quit because it was such an affront to Tolkien . But I don’t hold the failure of those projects against the actors. Rather, I blame the disjointed guidance of studio executives and really poor writing. So, cut Brie a break and hope for her sake she can find a studio to work for that cares about telling good stories well.

The answer was always easy. Introduce Rogue as a villain, have her steal half of Carols powers which would of solved her being OP.

The more of Marvel's stuff that has come out, the more i've realised I just don't like how they write stuff. I don't think that characters are "titles" that can be passed on. There is one Captain America, everyone else is just wearing his name, but the writers like pushing the idea that the heroes themselves are purely a passable token that can passed on to a new person. I also just hate the name "Captain Marvel", it just REEKS. The more comic trash they push forward, the more you realise why it was dying on its feet for so long. Its just straight up bad in a lot of instances.

I watched (ok side watched with my wife) Lessons in Chemistry. It was an awful, girl power, living white men suck, pile of crap. Her acting was dead. The dog (yes, there was a dog episode) was a better actor. She helped produce it, so it was absolutely what she wanted to portray. And yes, it's no different from the dead acting in her marvel fare.

Have Rogue absorb her powers!!! We could actually get a comic accurate Rogue now!!!

They could also nerf Captain Marvel to fit her into the movies better... She could even have like... one of those "arc" things as a result.

Remember, RMB also said once upon a time that KK was a great producer and Iger was a great businessman. So, for someone who still has a stake in the industry, his comments about Larson, especially his comments on her barely seen (FOR A REASON) tv show is on brand.

I remember when the movie was first announced. I thought Brie was pretty and it could be a fun female superhero movie. Then I heard the bad press. Then I saw MauLer break it down. And i instantly thought, "what a waste."

On the part where you talk about doing stuff during the 5 years when the snap happened: They really should be making projects that show us what happened during all that. Currently, it's just a footnote, and it really doesn't seem like it mattered in the grand scheme of the current projects outside of the crap villains in Falcon and Windlter Soldier. There's a whole 5 year period there where they could be making these killer stories in what is a dark time in the MCU's world, but no, they just ignore the snap and treat it like a fucking joke every time it comes up.

RMB has some of the best takes, but also some of the worst takes. Saying Captain Marvel was a good B sci-fi film is like saying hydrochloric acid is a good chemical face scrub.

Imagine if they’d done annihilation during the snap, it would make sense why the avengers weren’t helping, half are dust and the other half should be working on how to undo the snap, so they have to introduce new heroes. (Also hulk should never have become what he did, he should have been convinced that the remaining avengers needed Bruce and Bruce has been working the entire time to find a way to bring people back) Then endgame could have brought the people back AND helped with annihilation. Thanos was completely wasted in endgame too, hell, they could use the stones to begin pushing back the annihilation waves but the stones start breaking the person/people that use them while the waves keep coming so they capture thanos and tell him if he loves conquering so much they’ll give him an entire universe to conquer and throw him into the annihilation zone before stitching it closed with the help of the now-restored Mr fantastic

Disney has convinced me they can ruin anyone. Oscar Issacs was great in Dune, awful as Finn. Brie needs a middling iconic role in a real sci fi movie: not Disney.

She is so condescending and hates the target demographic of sci-fi, though. She would tank any movie with her in it.
@brianmiller20308 ай бұрын
@@Swordsman99k I like Brie. She is cute. I think she was trying to show how good of a Disney soldier she could be. She should play a fun character who is a mess. From my limited experiences actresses are almost always acting. The ones you think are great tend to be jerks. The ones that play the b word in movies and TV, such as Cybil Shepherd once upon a time, can be very down to Earth and decent. I can vouch for Cybil but no one else. For all I know Brie is the same. She is cute. Give her another shot.

That bloke Burnett has said the truth mcu has become a sitcom. It should have ended at endgame especially if you didn't have a story to tell. And look at Downey as a example probably going to win a Oscar.

First of all, all evidence points to Captain Marvel not making billion dollars, a sequel that took more than 4 years to make thats not really a sequel, photos and videos of empty theaters and of course Brie Larson. Secondly, winning an Oscar today is nothing more than a participation award.

@SergioMendoza7608 ай бұрын
This isn’t even entirely her fault which I find to be pretty ironic and funny. Her performances haven’t been great of course, But I also think that the marvel execs wanted a superwoman with no weaknesses and they got exactly what they wanted. They never considered for a second that none of us would be interested in watching that, let alone more than once which is how those marvel movies used to make a billion dollars. Repeat business was a huge reasons for their success in the past and now NONE of their movies are even worth seeing once let alone twice, and if you want us to watch captain marvel more than once you’re out of your damn mind Kevin Feige and Bob iger lol

I'll be thankful forever that she opened my eyes after more than thirty years as a comic fan to the simple fact these stories are no longer made for me. This has saved me from the terrible films, comics and stuff. And money, let's not forget money.

7:00, definitely agree. They might as well have called it: The Marvels! The Contractually Obligated Motion Picture. I 100% believe that set was hell to work on, not the least of which because of the insufferable one's fury that she has to share her sequel no one wanted with 2 other main characters.
@lancebaylis31698 ай бұрын
What she "wants" means nothing. If she's contractually obligated to the House of Mouse, she'll turn up in the latex suit and dance - and she'll have to like it. Being able to see now with 20/20 hindsight that the MCU is on a decaying orbit and that signing herself up to it as the presumptive face of Marvel moving forward just before the whole thing started crashing down wasn't the best career move, doesn't mean she can walk away from whatever her contractual obligations are now. Personally, I hope they keep making her do ever more terrible Captain Marvel projects... because the schadenfreude is HILARIOUS.

Brie leaving the MCU won’t save the MCU. The MCU has far more problems than just Brie. People are tired of superhero movies. The writing has become absolutely horrible. The new characters are just not interesting and pander to DEI imperatives. I say shelve the MCU. Maybe come back to it in n a decade or two. Create new material.

There was so much more they could have done with that character, especially the Air Force/Army quips between Captain American and her. They dropped the ball, big time.

They won’t deep dive on the more cosmic and supernatural aspects of Marvel, mainly due to the spiritual, and loosely religious, themes that are weaved throughout. Hollyweird also lacks the grey matter to deliver on the more nuanced philosophical elements needed to add weight and gravity to the universe that they squandered.
