Exactly, it was simply made to entertain. Now imagine if all their movies and series were like that. But Disney's corrent occupiers explicitly state they hate the thought of just entertain the audience that wants to be entertained. I have known many students from Asia over the years, and I am always so embarrassed - they love Westerners and want to see movies with handsome White men and beautiful White women. But instead there's crap inserted. And in music and in the schools too, and when there's a culture day in town full of shiht. And they can't understand why. I disagree. I would say stop making Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man that suck. You can absolutely do some cool stuff in that sandbox. A Venom movie with Kraven as the villain could be really cool but Sony won't make Kraven a villain. Apparently he's an animal rights activist in his upcoming movie. But honestly, even if Sony did that, they'd still mess it up.

We would miss the audience that watches those trash shows, and clearly that audience is what matters. (People who have actually read the novels? You are nothing. Go away. In the book the banquet was pivotal as Kynes went to the Atreides side. How much impact did that have? Paul wasn’t accepted by the Fremen until he killed Jamis. So the banquet becomes optional to the film. Paul has to be accepted so he has to fight Jamis. It’s also important in being his first kill. In the book that happened at night, without stillsuits, in the Cave of Birds. Did it have to be that way? Cheaper and easier to film during the day. Would moving it to daytime change the importance of Paul killing Jamis? Things get changed or left out when transferring from book to film. If you take away the banquet what does Kynes do? Take the Atreides to see a spice harvester, and get killed by the Sardaukar after Paul had gained his loyalty. The gender swap in the film doesn’t eliminate those. The film isn’t telling the story of Liet-Kynes. As for girlbossess. Herbert filled his books with them. Bene Gesserit, Fish Speakers, Honored Matres. The universe of Dune isn’t one for haters of girlbosses.
@Mereologist11 ай бұрын
@@darrenjones5885 Except the Bene Gesserit in this movie are weepy losers. And the strong Duke doesn't care if his son carries on his house, but just wants him to be free. Two changes that completely alter the foundation-stones in Paul's life. The harvester scene in the book is critical because it shows how riddled the society is with traitors - there is no air support. The movie completely screws this up, and also has one of Paul's first spice visions there, which is ridiculous because he's been taking spice his whole life. And I think they even have him rescue the Fremen which is also absurd because instead in the book he sees in that scene how they do what everyone else thinks is impossible - striking out across the desert. Changing Kynes is completely absurd in a WARRIOR culture which puts men on the front lines and women NEVER if at all possible. Of course in modern days this is impossible because the idea that women should remain at home to raise children is against the 'Message'. So then that has to be changed too. The movie doesn't JUST change a thing or two to serve the different medium... ALMOST EVERY DETAIL is completely different and in fundamental ways which show that the director doesn't have the slightest idea what held the books together and their cultural precedents.

The reason the Venom movies make money is because Venom is genuinely Marvel's second most popular character. Sometimes he's even their highest seller. Venom and Spider-Man are 2 of the only comics that sell beyond just Batman these days. That and those movies are entertaining enough that people campaigned to put him in the MCU (back when it was good). Sony doesn't realize that there's a difference between making movies of 2 of the most popular characters who's comic runs carry Marvel and supporting characters who rarely can even carry a 5 issue run.

If the movie takes place before a certain movie Spider-Man is born and the villain wants to prevent his birth and it's 2003, then it can only be Tom Holland's version, and even his Peter Parker was born in 2001. Not to mention that it's not MCU...

So many flops thesedays we really need to make we distinguish the severity beyond opening predictions. Like from a range of Aquaman 2 (big flop) to The Marvels (epic flop). Opening predictions alone doesn't establish that, since Aquaman 2 actually opened lower than The Marvels, but made twice as much.

I find it such a bizarre idea for a movie. My only recollection of Madame Web is the old lady sitting on a tech-chair from the 1990s Spiderman cartoon, who had some connection with interdimensional travel or stuff like that from what I remember. How many people have actually ever even heard of this character, to justify a movie around some version of her? The Venom movies are pretty bad, but at least they feature a rather popular and basss lead character...
@MrShadowSmith11 ай бұрын
Same. That's was my first time learning about this character. From what I know she is supposed to be just this mentor figure for Spiderman like the ancient one in Dr strange. There's no way you can write a whole movie about her.

I'm pretty convinced that the reason Venom gets the random engagement it does is from the relationship between Venom and Eddy. I think the two have just enough chemistry to get people back just for the charm for those two, probably just because they remember them fondly, subconsciously anyways lol.

I think Garfield would make more sense longterm, but I still think people still want to see a fourth Raimi film that little bit more. Andrew Garfield should get his 3rd movie in combo to Venom getting his. We can see Spiderman "not pulling his punches" as he described in No Way Home. The Venom Symbiote can initially attach to this Spidey and help give him the edge over his opponents. Hardy can help talk sense into him and get Venom back, then team up to beat the final villain. Maybe throw in Black Cat as an ally too, introduce MJ at the end. It doesn't need to be that complex.

people were coming to Super Hero movies because they were good. the quality dropped, so people stopped coming. its not brain surgery to figure -out the cause and effect. the real question is what happened to the corporations who are making these movies. the sudden incomitance is strange. why would people who used to do a good job abandon a winning recipe for this pathetic mess.
@CyGea11 ай бұрын
They obviously wanted to make a female Spider-person movie. So why not use the second most successful Spider-person, behind Peter, his daughter May-Day, Spider-Girl. She is literally the only other Spider-person who could carry their own title. She sold better than Miles ever has. Plus Toby is the perfect age to play her father.
@Noodles.Doodles11 ай бұрын
Brilliant. It'll never happen, because then she'd naturally ask her positive father figure, Spider-Man, for advice. I'm guessing they're setting it up so Spider-Man has to ask Madame Web for advice. Then she'll chide and emasculate him, and he'll screw up because he failed to heed her advice. Then in the end, she'll suddenly rescue him and 'show him how it's done'.

Is there any reason audiences would show up for this? Well, strictly speaking for myself here but low key Dakota was the only likeable part of the 50 shades movies, the books were so, so bad but her portrayal of Ana was kind of adorable and Sydney as Cassie is just the hottest mess on Euphoria like a grown up Buttercup with self esteem issues; so I kinda want to see them in a movie together lol. Linking back to something that's been mentioned in these podcasts before the last few Marvel movies have kind of androgenized the heroines to make them all more man like in an attempt to make them more appealing which hasn't worked because guys don't want them and girls don't want to be them either so I'm wondering if they're going to take a chance and lean into the sex appeal of their heroines this time. I don't think anyone would look at Catwoman and say, wow great movie, but it's a fun time it's ridiculous and campy and who didn't look at Halle wearing that leather catsuit and think damn. I either wanna f*** that or be that? And to compare, Elektra drops the sex appeal and gave us one of the blandest, most stoic and emotionless heroines of all time and that movie was terrible. Catwoman was no the Dark Knight but you can sit down and watch it and laugh and enjoy yourself. I really hope Marvel is willing to lean back into that kind of movie, that's just fun to watch and gives us beautiful people being sexy in leather and spandex while they kick butt and let me escape for 2 hours into a world I can have fun in again.

I believe the draw with Venom was that everyone knew, even with the liberties they took with his origin, eventually he'd cross paths with Tom Holland's Spiderman. They teased it after Strange screwed up the multiverse. Of course, everything is pretty much shot to hell now. The multiverse was already a complicated storyline, but any DECENT WRITERS could have made something of it. I don't understand the Disney business model and I stopped trying a long time ago. Sony seems to be following suit. How do you try to put Morbius behind you? By taking two of their writers and giving them the chance to do worse. GENIUS 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾👌🏾
