@lbds9543 ай бұрын
@@subutaynoyan5372There's no ego here. Spartacus was the voice of reason. There were countless among them who weren't warriors and didn't want a "glorious death". They wanted to live and be free. Crixus was being narrow-minded and only thinking about what he wanted, whereas Spartacus had thousands of lives to consider - and obviously he didn't want to needlessly march them all to a bloody death. He was a true leader who thought about everyone beneath him, not just himself.

Spartacus was right. Crixus acted like everyone among them was a Gladiator, ready to die. Spartacus was the leader for a reason. The ways of a soldier were second nature to him and he served in the Roman Auxiliary. Crixus was merely a slave turned Gladiator. He always thought he knew best. Had he stayed with Spartacus, things could have turned out different, but he wanted so badly to attack Rome directly as if the Romans would allow that to happen.
@alexmercer95923 жыл бұрын
Even if Crixus had stayed with Spartacus, they still would have lost crushingly in the end. The Roman army was simply too big and only a few of Spartacus' men were gladiators. I learned two things at the end of the series. 1)Crixis mind and heart was in Naevia's body 2) If he had been the leader of the group since the beginning, they wouldn't have lasted this long because he lacked leadership skills. Not everything is about fighting. That's what Spartacus came to realize at the end. Spartacus went from vengeance to saving life. Vengeance was personal but he never thought his rebellion would bring so much responsibilities so he change. That's even what Agron told Crixis in sinuessa valley when he told him that before, Agron wasn't like that but replied we change. It was so selfish from Crixis and Naevia to divide their forces and go with the most skilled fighters with them. They didn't even think about how will Spartacus do with the remaining slaves. They just left him for their vengeance. So selfish. Reason to why after Crixis death, Naevia told Spartacus that she was sorry for not listening to him and sorry for pushing Crixis not to do so. It cost them greatly. Human nature is so selfish. Even after Naevia and Crixis saw the birth of that child in the last episodes of the series, that should've touch them and change their heart. Because who was going to protect the the weak slaves if not the strongest fighters. As a matter of fact, Spartacus sacrifice himself him as a fighter to help the weak one escape. Even though Pompeii came and wiped the majority of them. But still some manage to escape Rome and leave free. Thanks to Spartacus and the other warriors who sacrifices themselves for them. That's the a quality of a good leader. Crixis who wanted to have a glorious death could've have it when facing Crassus and his legions with Spartacus in the final battle. But no, he was too hot headed and impatient. And that got the best of him greatly. At the end of the day, Crixis was a battlefield leader. The kind of leader that you ride or die with him in a battle. Hyped and pumped up at every moment. But Spartacus remains the leader and great one. Whether it's on the battlefield or outside. Great tactician on the battlefield as displayed at the end of the season. Cavalry, Traps, Arrows. And he manage with what he had. Reason to why Crassus gave him the utmost respect "I WOULD'VE LOVE YOU BEING BORN A ROMAN. WE WOULD'VE FOUGHT SIDE BY SIDE AND WON MANY WARS". Sorry if I was too long guys. Am just a huge fan of this series as we all are 😅

Unpopular opinion. I thought Liam McIntyre portrayed spartacus better than Andy as a leader, and Andy Whitfield better as a gladiator. I don't think Andy couldve pulled of the leadership part in 'Vengeance' and 'War of the damned' as well as Liam, and I'm glad Liam did the last two seasons. War of the damned was a great season (although the decimation episode sucked).
@mightymouse81345 жыл бұрын
No disrespect to Andy, but I've always thought he wasn't a good Spartacus. After Liam took over, he made that role his own and the two seasons after were the better ones.

It was in that situation. As the series progresses he goes from an angry, self-focused gladiator/rebel to increasingly expanding his perspective to include others around him. First Varro, then a few more guys, then the Ludus in general and by the time of War of the Damned, he's a full on general and leader. Crixus going at him the like this threatened to jeopardize their entire pseudo-army and fracture the group (which is indeed what ended up happening) and Spartacus had to try and reign it in. I'm sure he knew Crixus wouldn't take kindly to being given an order like that, but he also likely felt he didn't have much choice other than coming to blows, which they obviously also did though certainly not because he wanted to.

Correct me if im wrong but what i cant understand is how could Crassus legion of 10000 men defeat Spartacus who led an army of 100 000 plus soldiers. The numbers dont add up. Crassus would have been out numbered 10 to 1.
@Taima7 жыл бұрын
You are indeed wrong. Numbers have never meant everything, except when all other variables are even. Crassus had a legion of professionally armed and trained soldiers. Both of those variables mean the world in the battles against Spartacus. The vast majority of Spartacus' military was slaves with little to no combat training or experience. Little to no armor or weaponry. Little to no understanding of battle tactics or formations. All of these things the Roman legions wielded in spades. There are tons of examples of battles that were numerically one sided but ended in defeat for those with the numbers. In the Battle of the Silarius River, the final battle of the Third Servile War (Spartacus' rebellion), the numbers were much closer, as Spartacus had already suffered tremendous losses, not to mention the split with Crixus that fractured their forces. The majority of the slaves/rebels were killed in battle. 6,000 were captured and crucified, a few thousand more escaped that battle only to die by the hands of Pompey's forces, and then finally a few thousand survived entirely. The Romans, despite having 10,000 less men, had very few casualties by comparison.

@nodinitiative6 жыл бұрын
Lonnie Thomas 10000 men? Crassus had 40000 soldiers with him in that battle. Crassus was not a fool and he did not underestimate Spartacus. Although the slaves army was defeated, at least they were defeated by a respectable amount of legions. If they were not feared and respected, then maybe Crassus might only use 10000 men.
@74mackd6 жыл бұрын
The Roman Army was made up of battle hardened well-equipped professional soldiers. When their numbers went down, they simply sent word to Rome for more professional killers. The slave Army was made up of untrained slaves. Sick, elderly, young, women, injured.

I think crixus was right, if they had United with every weapon in hand and, attacked crassus in the millia ridge maybe they would have a better chance, since in close combat the gladiators where almost invinsebile, and Romans would not have ballista and catapult too, it would been a close combat battle

@honinakecheta6012 жыл бұрын
Okay but their army was not primarily made up of gladiators… Spartacus said that. They were mostly untrained slaves and brigands who wanted to continue raiding and pillaging the land, they didn’t have the same goals or the same training as the other gladiators. That’s why in the end they died; to the Roman’s superior training. They should’ve escaped north to Bulgaria in order to become free, and possibly to fight another day.
@Evin072 жыл бұрын
Crassus also had planned long ahead to have them trapped at the ridge. Even if they were superior in close combat it would've likely ended the same way Gannicus was captured; surrounded by an endless wall of Roman shields with nowhere to run and slowly exhausted down to nothing. The one thing Crassus didn't anticipate was Spartacus escaping his trap by using his own dead.
@Ghost-fv4pk2 жыл бұрын
You think in an open combat they would stand a chance against the roman army?Those rebels are good in combat ngl but they aren't fitted in a open close combat cause they lack discipline, weapons and armors like the roman legions, roman are good in a group fight while those rebels are much better in guerilla warfare.
