Croatia's Changing Demographics: No Longer 'Whitest Country'

Back in July 2018, around the time of the World Cup Final, a French anti-racism league organisation insinuated that Croatia was somehow racist as its team were all white (there was no mention of the Nigerian team being all black). It led me to look at the statistics of how many foreigners were living in Croatia with temporary or permanent residence.
Back then, there were less than 30,000 foreigners here (and most of them white) in a population of 4 million. With some 99.3% Croatian citizens, almost all of them white (I am not saying that is a good or a bad thing, just a thing), Croatia was arguably the whitest country in the world.
Five years on, things are changing. Find out how much, and where the new arrivals are coming from in a 2023 update of the statistics provided by the Ministry of the Interior. The original video about 2018 is available at the end of this video.

it was never 99,93 Croat lol don't know where this fool pulled that stat. According to the 2021 census, the majority of inhabitants are Croats (91.6%), followed by Serbs (3.2%), Bosniaks (0.62%), Roma (0.46%), Albanians (0.36%), Italians (0.36%).

@@dole7959 Are those ethnicities from the census? Those are still croatian citizens/nationals if they have "drzavljanstvo", so they are still Croatians in that sense, just not ethnically croat. I think he is talking about foreigners, people that don't have croatian citizenship but they have a permanent or temporary residence. This is different than the ethnic breakdown of croatian citizens. A person born in croatia with a croatian passport that identifies as serb in heritage is not a foreigner in any sense, they are part of the serb minority and still a croatian national.

Anyone who observes the world around us (not listening to the MSM, but independent media and citizens-journalists) knows exactly what Croatia will look like soon. In the end we will end up like the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Germany... In our country we will become a minority without any rights, (ili na hrvatskom: zadnja rupa na svirali) ,we will be banned from our religion, we will be called names because we want to continue to have our culture and traditions, because we love our history... while crimes will increase enormously. It will be worse for us than for other EU countries because there are few of us and the transformation will happen quickly. But that is the plan of the globalists, so everything is going exactly according to their plan, and since we are small and unimportant, they are only now coming down on us, since the destruction of the above-mentioned big countries is going quite well. 😢

We must treat the preservation of Croatian culture very seriously and avoid the mistake of more Western-European nations with regards to mass immigration. @Dah42

@@timjrgebn Do you mean lowest moral standards? if so, pretty much all those places you mentioned defend abortion, which explains their extremely low birth rates. I'm south American and when I think about people with "good morals", I usually think of Arabic and other Muslim people since they tend to take their religion very seriously, as a result, they abstain from premarital sex, they don't abort their kids, they don't practice homosexuality, they don't embrace transgenderism etc.. I'm a Catholic, and I'm proud to be a Catholic, however it is a sad reality that Catholics and other Christians as well, practice premarital sex, they vote for candidates who support abortion and homosexual sex.. Pretty much all Christian countries have very low birth rates since a large percentage of the kids conceived are aborted or contracepted.
@timjrgebn
@timjrgebn 7 ай бұрын
@Dah42 I'm actually in complete agreement with you. I'm even married to an Arab and also agree. My point was West Europe had some of the lowest morale, and morals too. US takes the cake, of course, with West Europe being a close second. I actually met some of the best people in West Asia.

@@timjrgebn Hi. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important issue. Your words on this matter are significant, especially considering that you're well-traveled, which has provided you with the opportunity to explore and understand these cultures. Unfortunately, Latin America is another region where morals are pretty poor, we have extremely high rates of abortion and single motherhood. We also think that it's "cool" to defend homosexuality and transgenderism. Is west Asia the same as "Middle East"?
@timjrgebn
@timjrgebn 7 ай бұрын
@@Dah42 , Sadly true. And because South and Central Americas proximity to the US, they may continue being taken advantage of by the US even after the US has further declined. Not all Middle Eastern countries are in West Asia (Egypt) and not all West Asian countries are part of the Middle East (Azerbaijan). This is why I try to be more specific. Note that while the Middle East doesn't really accept the fringe social movements in the West, they are modernizing sexually. You can see plenty of women wearing crop tops now and dating, for example, with many of the youth wanting to move to the West for economic reasons. It is more likely the world will see itself modernize to the point of long-term decline everywhere, e.g., birth rates plummet, the global economy declines or stagnates for a very long time, inequality rises (maybe for a long time), there's a return of serfdom (already seeing subtle forms of it), etc. I hope I'm wrong, though. I hope what happens is the rest of the world sees where this is all heading and learns how to do something different from the West. I just worry the world will continue not thinking for themselves and following the West's example. If they do, then a declining population, falling global economy, and rising long-term inequality will be the only thing to force people to care about families, as family would then be the last hope for survival. If someone has money, and I do end up right, my recommendation would be to buy a farm and start a family...

People that probably made your parents have less than 300€ pension after 40 years of working. You want 'pure' country? Then first we need to stop putting in power people that ran this country economically into the ground. Until that happens - immigrant workers. Otherwise you can put a lock into that small remaining industry that's still running in this country. edit: not to mention that Serbs and Bosnians are carrying the whole tourist season during summer. Tough one… I would simply look at it as a sign of the times… we have multiple challenges here. There is a spike of labor demand on the coast in regards to the tourist season and there is no sign of it going down in the future. We will never have a sufficient number of workers to compensate for the ever growing spike. Second, over the years we have simply grown a culture of migration and people are bombarded with this topic from all angles (close relatives, friends, media etc.). It would be interesting to know how often the topic "working abroad" is brought up within our students and for e.g. students in Germany. Just the other day I had a conversation with a future mechanical engineer and he plans going abroad before the ink gets dry on his diploma. I asked the simple question: why? His answer was: "more opportunity". This is still very much going on. I think that we and by we I mean all the croatians that are still here and don't have tendencies to go anywhere simply need to wake up from this dream that the diaspora will return, that we will all of a sudden have a dramatic leap in birth rates and tackle this new challenge with an open mind. All in all I think the situation is much better than 15 years ago when job seeking was almost a job in itself.

We had three ethnic clensings in the last 150 years, incliding the Germans eighty years ago. It doesn't matter who they are, what skin they have, what religion they follow - at the end of the day we have ethnic conflict. It will be no different this time. And then people say "learn from history". We learned nothing. Instead of paying more a Croat and have him spend money on Croatian goods so wealth stays inside our borders, we hire foreigners who send it back home and buy foreign goods that are of lesser quality than ourr own were but are slightly cheaper. Insanity.

@@Cyricist001 , You should see what Canada has become. It has a much bigger population than Croatia, and I'd say they are even more past a point of no return than Croatia. As an American, though, I'd have to disagree about the skin color not mattering. It's permanently destroyed America's future for the very fact people can't get over skin color. It's almost like an ethnic cleansing multiplier. Being ethnically cleansed by a regional country is way different than from cultures extremely different from your own by unimaginable degrees. Imagine getting death threats by an immigrant for telling them they can't perform female genital mutilation on their daughter like back home. Wish I were joking, but welcome to Canada...

Also the temporary residents do not count as population when population count is every 10 years in Croatia, but even if you counted them, Croatia would still be 99.2 percent white. There's an interesting thing that happened in my place where I live; some 10+ years ago there would have been a small football playground bustling with activity from local guys playing football all weekend, then some 5 years ago all that just stopped completely because most people started working around EU, and for a little while it was completely empty. Now, it's bustling with activity once again (even much more than before), but this time it's all the immigrant workers from Nepal, India, Philippines. Hopefully they manage to integrate properly, but I'm guessing language barrier might be really hard to overcome.

@@agontprevarator5214 I haven't heard anything bad about them so far. People tend to talk fondly about them (even old people who are vary of such things). Feels like it's generally good vibe around them. Of course there's the fact that some habits are different and they can be culture-shocked, especially if they come from some rural places, but I can guarantee that our emigrants in other EU countries are far worse and cause much more 'noise' wherever they go. If average Croatian is as close minded as you are (luckily isn't), then I for sure would rather have those 'unintegrated' immigrants as neighbours than people like you. Croatia was never an immigrant destination and our institutions aren't really prepared for influx of so many people (nor are people used to it), so big weight lies on institutions providing proper help for them to settle and integrate. When our people go into Germany we have everything pretty much handed to us, we go to a familiar place, and still many fail to integrate into their society, and try to balkanize it. So it's very unfair to expect them to integrate in a matter of few years. Something to think about.

You are the second person I've seen called Žarko. Kind of a honor. What type of work does your company work? I don't mind them staying here but I am afraid they'll end up trapped here in poverty. Some of them are basically slaves. I really don't trust the croatian employers.

I don't know if any of them are modern slaves, the ones i work and communicate with daily are not. We're in the plastic and metal production. They mostly perform the low skill work, yet those that understand a bit of Croatian even operate some CNC machines

Unfortunately or fortunately, there will be no Croats in 50 years. We lost statehood, money, and now we are rapidly losing people. A nation that resisted enemies for thousands of years was destroyed. Soon the same fate awaits all the nations of Europe.
