Oh yes, honestly it is like a shawl. I didn't add that photo to the video but I do have a photo on the post of my MIL using it as a rectangle shawl.

??If you wanted to do two rows of DC in between the eyelets would that be ok, to give it a different effect
@WindingRoadCrochet4 жыл бұрын
That would be just fine. It would just spread out the eyelets.

Beautiful! It would be nice to see a bulky weight yarn for a poncho.👍😀💗
@WindingRoadCrochet4 жыл бұрын
When I was designing the poncho, I asked my Facebook group what they wanted in a poncho, they asked for something easy to remove (so buttons) and something light. There are the size measurements (in a chart) on the written pattern if you wanted to use a different yarn. You would just need to chain until it is the length you need for your size then work rows until you reach the right height.

I would check the gauge but I think it will. It is a thinner size 4 yarn.

Can I use Size 6 bulky yarn? If so how many chains for a size L/XL?
@WindingRoadCrochet2 жыл бұрын
You could adjust it to a bulky yarn but I wouldn't know the chains needed as I do not know what you gauge is. If you check out the written pattern there is a chart that tells you how wide and tall the poncho should be. www.windingroadcrochet.com/crochet-poncho-free-pattern/
@donnap47032 жыл бұрын
When you get to rows 8-33 what is the stitch count?
@WindingRoadCrochet2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the side. It should be the same as row 1. XS/S -187 M - 197 L/XL - 209 2X/3X - 219 4X/5X - 227
@robertamillar34823 жыл бұрын
I love this I’m trying it out now but my yarn is different size so I’m using a size seven hook plus Bernet pop for mind so I’m only using in stitches because the yarn stretched only having 170 stitches in mind
@WindingRoadCrochet3 жыл бұрын
I believe any odd number of chain will work. You just have to make it as long as you like and work less rows.

I'd like to make this Poncho for my granddaughter I think the extra small would be too big could you just tell me how many chains I need to make for a 6 year old
@WindingRoadCrochet4 жыл бұрын
I only have a 7 year old on hand to measure. But I am coming up with a starting chain of 165. This will make the total length about 50 inches if you gauge matches the pattern.

I was thinking of using Caron Cakes? Would I just use the hook size recommended on the label? Your tutorials are always so easy to follow and your products are BEAUTIFUL!! ♥️💐
@WindingRoadCrochet4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! But caron cakes is a size 4 (which is ok) just check out the written pattern and find out how wide the poncho should be (we are just making a rectangle) then chain until you reach that width (make sure it is an odd number of chains) then you can follow the pattern and just stop crocheting when you reach the height you want (there is on listed on that chart).

A lot of American Crochet 'teachers' don't seem to realise that people from other parts of the world. Don't have access to the brands of yarns they mention in their tutorials or the fact that it is very expensive even if it is available. Offering an alternative will be nice. Otherwise a great tutorial which I will try on an alternative yarn - gauging it first of course.
@WindingRoadCrochet4 ай бұрын
I just show what I used because otherwise people will ask. Of course alternatives are great. I really don’t expect anyone to use the yarn I used. This one was a lightweight yarn and any lightweight yarn that meets the gauge will work just fine. It is wonderful that you understand gauge. A lot of people do not and do not have the knowledge to easily substitute yarns.
