1. I am from California and I definitely had to learn square dancing in middle school gym. 2. I would love to swing by the Crooked Library for books.

I'm from Chicago and learned square dancing in 3rd grade. I remember there being a "Barn Dance" at the end of the unit where we performed for our parents.

To the Canadian who wanted to donate... we literally have an election THIS YEAR, their's isn't until November 2020. Come on, priorities! We actually have scandals, xenophobic conservatives, and the whole lot this year. Everything you'd want (and hate) from an American election but with a hint more maple syrup and the occasional apology. Help us keep Scheer out instead.

Nah, your conservatives aren't near as bad as ours are. The biggest issues you guys face in Canada is whether to build a pipeline or not.

@@Sevr-ln7kk I wish that were true. Yes, our Conservatives are not as crazy nor delusional as yours, but they are still bad (judge not in comparison to another political culture but in their own politics). For instance, they do accept that climate change is real but they refuse to do anything about it. After the UN Report last fall the Trudeau Government rolled out a series of climate policy proposals, including a carbon tax, but the Conservatives have said nothing - just last week a Canadian Report came out saying that Canada is warming at twice the global rate, and still nothing. Instead they just bash the carbon tax and say they will continue to support the oil industry in Alberta, in their vain effort to go back to 2005. This is especially ironic given that HRH the Prince of Wales, next in line to the Canadian Crown, is a vehement proponent of fighting climate change and protecting the environment. He's been a major advocate on this issue well before it was in the political mainstream. They are also cozying up to the same alt right culture that Republicans are - even as far back as 2015 Stephen Harper tried to ban niqabs for citizenship ceremonies and for public servants, and planned to institute a "Barbaric Cultural Practices Hotline," (despite the fact that 911 already existed). The Conservatives want to significantly cut Canada's intake of refugees, their leaders continuously try to subtly engage with the dregs of Canadian society; in one case Andrew Scheer was asked about pizzagate at a Town Hall, and tried his darnedest to engage with the question while pretending he didn't know it was in reference to pizzagate. Scheer's nomination campaign manager was a prominent figure in Rebel Media, Canada's Breitbart. And to top it off, the left in Canada is permanently split; we have three mainstream parties on the left, the Liberals (far, far from perfect), NDP (really have gone downhill since Layton/Mulcair days), and Greens. There are a lot of ridings with Conservative MPs only because of this vote splitting. Defeating the Conservative AND holding the current government to account is tricky - it can be done but it needs careful thought and organizing. So yes: please don't waste your money on the Democratic Primary, fellow Canadians. Any Democratic President would be good for Canada, but it's not our place to help fund that campaign. It really matters very little in our lives. Whoever is the next Prime Minister of Canada, or next provincial premier, DOES matter. Our election is six months away - start contacting the candidates in your riding. Take a look at their electoral history (is there a serious danger of vote splitting? If yes, think carefully about who you want to vote for. If not, then vote for whoever has the best message and policy). Volunteer to campaign, contribute to your local candidate. On a happier note, your Pete Buttigieg looks uncannily like Scot Brison, who was my local MP and a Cabinet Minister until February (his resignation accidentally kicked off this whole scandal... whoops). Whenever I see him on the news for a moment I think I'm looking at Brison. Even stranger because Brison is the first openly gay politician in Canada, the first to run for leadership of a federal party (ran for PC Leadership in 2003 before leaving the party and running for leadership of the Liberals in 2006), and I think the first to serve in Cabinet.

What are we going to do about the 2020 senate map? There are too many Democrats running for President and not enough running for the Senate. We need to flip the Senate.

Have these guys discussed the dccc decision to blacklist progressive candidates running against incumbents? Feels incredibly undemocratic to me and I’d be interested in their take on the issue and I worry these people running things just don’t get it.

I’ve donated to three candidates. Warren, sanders and buttigeig because I can’t stomach the idea of voting in the general for any of the others running. They’re all centrist incrementalist or in other words more of what we’ve always had so I’ll do whatever it takes to push those three to the end.
