It’s a nice looking pen. I like my Townsend. The nib in my pen is pre-Sailor. I believe it’s an 18kt gold medium nib and it was made in Ireland. I enjoy it, a lot. I think Cross pens are underrated, probably because people hate the the tiny proprietary cartridges. But that’s why you get a converter. Oh, and Cross Violet is one of my favorite inks!

Thanks for the review. I really likethe looksofthePeerless. I just bought a Peerless Tokyo on eBay, and now I can hardly wait for it to arrive.

Thanks for reviewing this, I have a soft spot for Cross pens having one that belonged to my grandfather from the 1970s which has a wonderful 14 k medium which I struggle to find a match for with all of my other pens. Design for the 125 isn't to my taste, but writing is where it's at.

That it functions so well makes it easier to forgive its gaudy Faberge details. The price might trip it up though.

I have a the Peerless 125 ballpoint pen in blue and it is just a super writer and so nice in the hands .. love the chunky feel and balance .. super awesome. Now, I am most certainly getting the fountain pen version of this pen cos I just totally love and what is not to love with that NIB! Cross has totally gone different level with the Peerless 125 and they are the cream of their crop. Get one, you will not regret it .. in fact I got another Peerless 125 ballpoint pen on the way from Amazon which is translucent titanium grey .. could not resist cos these cross ballpoint refills write sooo smoothly with not an inkling of a smudge unlike the Parker and Sheaffer refills I have used. Now, let me go hunt down this fountain pen. Nice review, but you did not show the converter to see how big it really is .. a bit of a quick review I thought! You kept saying it is so comfortable in the hands but not your design type .. well, I was like that a bit too at first but when you have this pen you fall in love with it I swear!

I'm interested in trying a Sailor nib now. I'll have to check them out at the next pen show I attend. Another great review!

Nice review. Not an aficionado, but I have been considering this pen, as I have enjoyed a Townsend for many years.

I think that pen is so beautiful! But you're right, everybody has different tastes in pens.

The medium nib is too fine for me. I found it dry and scratchy. Cross supposedly sells different nibs on their website, but whenever I check they are not in stock.

Interesting pen. The crystal is a turn off, and the cap looks like it's carrying a payload for SpaceX (which isn't a bad thing), but I like girthy and could grow to like the white platinum material.

With all of these companies with proprietary cartridges and converters, which two companies would you want to see the light and switch to standard international cartridges and converters?
@peteazouz60725 жыл бұрын
I would go with sailor, and platinum / nakaya, both of which have really wimpy converters, the cartridges aren't bad, but refiling them is a pain.

Your cursive is very nice, how did you learn it, is it a font, or is it just trial and error.

Nice review. It seems to be fairly wet as well which is good. Btw, do you have recommendations for pen/nib/ink for really juicy wet writing experience ?

What do you mean when you say the pen was sent on loan?

From reviews I get the impression that Cross pens are Jekyll and Hyde: 1) Affordable, under-performing, gaudy pens and 2) Expensive, satisfactorily performing gaudy pens.

Hi, I currently write with a cheap Parker IM, don't take me wrong, it's writing really nicely but I'm looking to buy a good quality fountain pen, I was looking at the Parker Sonnet special edition and I'm interested by the Cross peerless as well, would you say that the Peerless is in the mid range for weight or it's a heavy weight pen? What would you recommend and why?

I just got my Cross Bailey Fountain pen. It is red lacquer with silver trim. It truly is a classic looking fountain pen. The nib is medium and the ink flows smoothly. It dries really fast, before you finish the next word on the paper. You will have to get used to writing with a fountain pen if you are a first time user. The posting (Posting is when you put the cap on the back of the pen while you write, regardless of whether it pushes on or screws on with threads) is HORRIBLE. It does not stay and becomes loose and won't stay posted. I am an author and own 12 cross pens from ball points, roller balls, fountain pens. I don't know why cross can't fix this. If it wasn't for the loose posting, this would be one hell of a classic fountain pen for the price. fredberri.com
