By now, the description of CrossFit's three essential pillars is well-known: constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensity. In this video from the beginning of a lecture on CrossFit programming, Dave Castro, one of CrossFit's training directors, breaks that down and goes into more depth on the proper application of the principles of variety and intensity (he'll cover the third pillar, functional movement, in a future video). Variety is about more than just changing up which exercises you do, and intensity comes with some caveats and prerequisites. Dave explains what that really means for us, in the most practical terms.

Really awesome explanation @davecastro, and if you notice he was "all ears" for new training ideas and schemes that were coming from his trainers and studens, which is why this is a perfect example of when you put aside your bias' for training you will diversify and "constantly vary" your workouts because you will have the knowledge and idea's to do so. The ability to constantly learn, and remain highly trainable will be your most advantageous attribute. That goes for anyone in fitness and life

I would like to contribute with a Spanish translation for this video and all the others that are part of this set of videos. Would be a good material for the people that is studing for the Crossfit Level 1 Exam and speaks spanish but not English.

I have always been into weight training 3 to 4 days a week and thought I give cross fit a try for a certification just to get a general idea of what I be getting into.
