I appreciate your expertise. I am learning alot. At 47 I have not performed the power clean or power snatch until recently. I have been doing it incorrectly and look forward to improving my form with the help of this video.

I think the reason for it being the "Burgener warm up" is simply that these particular things are drilled more simplisticly with him, as is his style. In Oly warm ups, sure you do the high hang snatch warm up, BUT the jump and shrug etc, and focusing on the smaller parts of it is a bit different. you don't really see the burgener warm up in this video, not in its entirety anyway, just the first part, used to address the faults shown. The high hang portion was to show other points of performance

Great info. I think the internal rotation may be my problem. It also makes my shoulder hurt to snatch

It's mostly bad on your joints if you're doing it wrong, have bad exercise shoes on, arent strong enough for the weight, and/or don't take enough care of yourself with the correct supplements

would it be a bad idea to do the warm up close to a wall? to keep the feet in line and to keep the bar close to the body?

i get taught external rotation for snatch at crossfit?
@indiag63615 жыл бұрын
"which is what olympic-style weightlifters do." NoOoOoO, find me an oly lifter who favors external rotation and didn't get their start in crossfit or have a coach who started in crossfit. The greats all use internal rotation and it's something most USAW coaches cue.

To prove the point you had her to the internal rotation version incorrectly. If she did it correctly - then you'd see two comparable approaches. Instead you showed what you prefer (armpits showing) and an incorrect version of something you don't like (internal rotation.

This isn't the warm-up. He was just saying that certain parts of the warm-up can help fix problems with your lifts. In this video he is showing how the first three aspects of the workout can help. There's a lot more that isn't shown here. Or else I'm sure he would have called it a hang snatch warm-up

I think its fine calling it "The Burgener" warm up. Google this guy. Hes the senior international weight lifting coach for the USA Olympic Team. Just saying.

@pipseewa, I agree with @rathmao: This kind of things as giving a new name to any exercise with the name of someone who did not invent it at all, perverts the true knowledge of exercise science, this is one reason why there are people out there talking ignorantly, and sorry but it seems to me an abuse and disrespect for those who are concerned with knowledge rather than for fame, and have developed the real basis for this. It is my honest opinion, no eagerness to hurt!! :)

I can't get over her elbows bending waaay too much at the top of the snatch
