@@bryancsimmons Bryan brother, let us reason together. Your reflect is incorrect on each point, friend of rend. Listen to the media interviews of those who say nay; their common croon is that an LDS temple is not appropriate on the site at all. Zoning laws are not germane to the issue because none are being violated. Latter-day Saints would never oppose a synagogue being built. Guy of sly, can’t we be friends? Latter-day Saint temples are beautiful; this one would be a diamond in your desert. God bless you good neighbor! 💛🙏🏽

People in Utah are some of the most religiously tolerant people in the world, given that they experienced terrible religious persecution in the 1800’s at the hands of not only private citizens but state and the federal gov as well in a country that was founded on the right to religious freedom.

I dont try to get into poltics or anything like that too much, if at all sometimes, but I just gotta say, if the non lds people can build gambling and strip clubs in a city founded and started by lds people, then why cant the lds people build a temple in a now majority non lds city? We let them in and overrun the city with filth, now let us have our bit of holiness too. I mean its only fair. I dont think most of us enjoy having all the clubs around, but they get to have them there, so why not let us build a temple even if they dont enjoy looking at it? Also, for any sideliner non lds people who dont enjoy the clubs either, well thanks for your support. We hope you dont get too annoyed by a having a temple here either. Asking for an exception for a steeple, correct? Is that really going to negatively impact the neighborhood?
@weirdsweetcoolplants4 ай бұрын
@@CalledtoShare I think it has more to do with the building height limitations, but I could also see some people saying it could impact the scenic views or something..... I do want to say that I agree with the church more that it's a special case specifically because it is a temple, not just a casino, theater, or mall. I do wonder though how much it would impact the temple look and significance if they did actually take 20-30 feet off the steeples of temples they wanted to build in smaller cities to let the temple still stand out but maybe blend into the overall look of the rest of the city a tiny bit more. I mean, we are used to temples being tall, but if you got something the size of Notre Dame (for size comparison) built in Orem, St George, or Logan, I'm sure the residents would be a little iffy on it too....

You know, this whole thing is ridiculous. People aren't opposing the building of the temples here and in a few other places, they're just opposing the height of the steeples because of city ordinances. The church members have turned out like drones because they want to make sure the church gets what it wants no matter what. But as someone that was born and raised in the church and is a seventh-generation member, I can tell you the height of the steeple has absolutely nothing to do with the function of temple at all. In fact, some of the temples, like the Paris temple, don't even have a steeple. The steeple is purely aesthetic. So if the church really wants to build temples in these locations rather than turning it into a big fight and trying to make it a referendum on the religion itself like many of the members attending these meetings are trying to do and like many in the comments are trying to do, which it's not, just remove the steeple and call it good. Use common sense for once instead of letting the church control your each and every move.

What if God insists on the Steeple for this Temple?
@greententacle225 ай бұрын
@@The_Man_Chidi Chidi, I'm sure you're a very sweet person, but as you know, the steeple on a temple serves no function, it's just aesthetics. God is also a God of knowledge, wisdom, and logic. It's not logical to go to war, so to speak, over something as superfluous as a steeple on a temple. In fact, the greater wisdom would be to get along with the neighbors and follow the law of the land. However the church just wants to push this through because the church and the leaders are used to getting what they want so they'd rather fight over this issue than take the more reasonable, logical, and wise approach.
@davidfrey56545 ай бұрын
Don't be fooled. If they could, they'd have the whole temple scrapped. But they know they can't. So they're trying to do the next best thing, change the traditional shape of it.
@greententacle225 ай бұрын
@@davidfrey5654 The church itself has already done that in many instances, with some temples having unusual shapes and some not having any steeples. The church knew going in what the various city ordinances were but they would rather fight them than follow their own teachings. While members usually try their best, that's not really too unusual for the church itself.

The law wouldn’t have been an issue if governments would just stay out of regulating properties and arbitrarily deciding what works and what doesn’t. In my humble opinion, if someone or an organization owns land, it should be theirs and theirs alone and no one should interfere with it unless an individual’s rights are infringed upon.
