Good info, thx for the video. Enjoy your videos, am myself a happy owner of an old-as-the-hills, more-beat-on-than-a-drum 'light duty' 70 series here in Uganda (1995 kzj78 with the 3lrt turbo diesel). There is nothing light about it, in the sense or durability (tho I keep the cooling system up to snuff on the 1kz 4 cyclinder, the previous owner cracked the head when it overheated, but it still ran ok). Its been our family daily driver, tough as nails, for last 10 years and has never not gotten my family back home. Have taken it all over East Africa, planning a trip down to Zambia next. 300,000km on the clock, but hard hard miles, it is difficult to understand just how bad the roads and dust/mud is here, even in the city. I never have enough money to keep up on the shocks/springs/bushings, but have overloaded it big-time on 2 trips to Kenya, pounded it while racing out of safari game drives on volcanic rock roads to get out before the park gates close, waded through flooding rivers, and driven it 10000 times over deep potholes and washboard-like speed 'ripple strips' on the 5 minute drive to drop my kids at their school. And I have the 'light duty' version! But, I cant complain since it gives me 4 wheel coil springs! 2 quick things to add: The Japanese lettering on the left rear door (next to the 500kg) is Japanese for maximum hitch weight. Second, the 70 series is still the go-to car here in Africa for government and aid agencies, etc., with the very same 4.2 inline 6 cylider diesel that they have had pretty much since the beginning. They sell these of course in Australia, but with all the smog and safety upgrades and the newer V8 turbo diesel. But when the conditions are the worst, when help is the furthest, when technical knowledge and tools are the rarest, when it will be driven by many drives, who between them don't change the oil and have never noticed the heat gauge, then the global default is the old 4.2 liter. Unstoppable.

Great video and dialed 73. Looking to do a similar wheel tire combo on my HZJ73 - Could you let me know the brand, model, specs of the steel wheels? That offset / stance looks perfect. Cheers!

Beautiful rigs. It looks like the 40 and 70 have high steer systems. I'm getting ready to install a high steer system made by 4x4 Labs, a company in Grass Valley, CA, owned by Luke Porter. Did you install your high steer systems? Are the any suggestions you would be willing to pass along to me regarding the installation? Thanks in advance, Kevin McCarthy

Hey man! Im a novice when it comes to land cruisers but they have always been one of my dream cars. I’m wondering how difficult it is to source parts for them?? I could do the research myself but just thought I’d ask. I have an opportunity to trade one of my cars for ‘94 j70 with a 1kz and I’m seriously thinking about it. Other than basically loving the way land cruisers look and wanting one my whole life, I don’t really know anything about them or even realistically thought about owning one. Thanks man!! Love the content

For US spec Land Cruiser you will find what you need. There were over 100k of then sold in the US. For JDM, you have to search a little more.. but they made 400k 80 series for the rest of the world..So there are parts, just count in shipping times. IH8Mud is a great resource and plenty of LC folk that will chime in and help. Its a great community.

Love your channel and truly envious of the variety of Land Cruisers you have. All done extremely well. Wondering how you handle the tricky CA. registration situation with the imports and diesels? Thanks!

In AZ right now registering.. CA doesn't want Grey Vins (imports). That's why you see MT, SD, ID plates out here on these JDMd

@@CruisingTheLand We've been thinking about importing a Defender, but the registration issue keeps getting in the way. I know you can register them in another state, but have you run into any issues doing that? I know of a sweet 80 series import here in NorCal and if it's as easy as a trip to Arizona then I'm gonna seriously consider it. Thanks!
