Zoroastrianism is known for incest in game but it’s more sympathetic in history when you consider their belief that their enemies were servants of ‘The Lie.’ It’s more interesting in those wars with the Greeks when you know their perspective.
@SirBallsDeepOfHouseManthrust Жыл бұрын
I’m not an expert, but from what I understand, the actual practice of incest in the Zoroastrian nobility was deemed acceptable and holy in mostly theory only, and that there is like little to no evidence of it ever actually happening outside of texts just saying that it’s okay to do. The actual practice had a name I think but I can’t remember.

@@DETCTDLGPE It's funny how the romans considered the gauls to be barbaric for practicing human sacrifice, meanwhile the persians considered the romans to be barbaric for practicing animal sacrifice. Zoroastrians are so utterly fascinating for possessing one of the most coherent yet ancient religions on the planet that is still practiced to this day. What is more fascinating is that they had an understanding that their god is uncreated, which is a stark contrast when compared to most sedentary cultured civilizations of the time period that practiced idol religions; swapping out their idols and adding new ones every so 30 to a hundred years.

I was thinking about it! After the End changes up its religion mechanics quite a lot, and there's also less information out there about the specifics. I think I'd want to wait until they're more solidified. But if people really wanted to hear my thoughts on the current state of the mod, I might go for it.

That sounds like a good idea, the only risk is, well, that it’ll take years for After the End to “stabilize” and have it’s mechanics fixed in one place. One thing you could do is get in contact with the modders themselves and get all the info you need from them, i might just be asking too much though.

Playing as her after transferring all my wealth and the ring (if you know, you already know what she is), I had her rush taking Arabia (with 25 martial, 72 personal combat and wealth that puts the Pope to shame), and "take care" of her son outside the dynasty. The problem is she's already 46 but by some "miracle", she had a son and needless to say, the dynasty continues. The Hag of Gotland is only one of the fun stories I get to produce out of my Gotland Republic run, and I had multiple runs 😉 Point being, the barbarism is truly not exclusive to the most savage religions

I know, not really a reason to start a dispute ... but I think that the additional taxation of non-Muslims when playing Muslim characters isn't really more barbaric ... actually, it's quite the opposite. Rather than outright demand conversion, you can keep your faith if you think it's worth the trouble. And as a ruler you get the extra funds and interested you need to defend minorities. Of course, this mixes real-life intentions with game mechanics but it's nonetheless interesting for an Muslim character to own some non-Muslim vassals.
@foolsgold55884 жыл бұрын
As far as game mechanics are concerned, infidel tax religions don't result in better quality of life for religious minorities - at the end of the day they're losing more money to inequal taxation than they would be if they converted, and they can still be forcibly converted/title revoked for being an infidel if the ruler wants it, same as any other faith.
@KaneCold4 жыл бұрын
@@foolsgold5588 well it's the same in real life ... the ruler can still enforce its faith but has to wager fewer taxes.
