This was a magazine recipe like over 10 years ago. I've made them with tofu-water chestnuts-green onions-garlic-ginger filling in wonton wrappers. Light soy sauce mixed with sesame oil, chili flakes and more green onions for dipping sauce. I'm haven't seen vegan dim sum around SoCal. Nice video.

I made these tonight, soooo good! I messed up the dough a little bit so my wrapping ended up being shocking, and some were too thick.. didn’t matter though. They were so delicious I ended up scoffing the batch. Instead of your filling I had grated plain tofu, cooked with garlic, spring onion, leek, chestnut mushroom, shiitake mushroom, napa cabbage and chives. And some sugar and mushroom soy sauce. Seriously, with some Chinese black vinegar these were bloody amazing.

Happy Chinese New Year, Mary! I love hot oil on my ha gow, so good. I usually use the big abalone mushroom or eringy (?) mushroom available in japanese/korean market to stand in for the shrimp i could no longer eat after my cancer surgery. Those shrooms can really soak up lots of bold flavor not having any flavor of its own. Do try them when you can find them. Make your own hot oil, Mary. It’s easy and not that hand taxing. I like mine w/ lots of garlic.

great video as I have made dumplings most of my life but have an all vegan meal to do in June and desperately looking for ideas for non meat dumplings. I will not attempt to make this dough but will have to find "thin" egg roll wrappers as those round wonton wrappers from wong wing here in Canada are WAY too small
@marystestkitchen5 жыл бұрын
If you get a good selection of Wing Wong, try looking for the wonton "covers" instead -- they are square shaped. Or try my recipe for regular vegan dumpling wrappers (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppm8qYGbYrWhp68). They're pretty easy to make. Either way, good luck!
