Had an ISFP client once. I was the only one in his life who would tell him one brutal truth after the other and initially he respected me for that until he started hanging out with people who validated him because they wanted something out of him (money, favors etc.). And then slowly but surely, he started seeing me as an enemy, as a ''hater'' and his life has been going down a downward spiral ever since.

What's funny about this video is that CS Joseph is warning us ISFPs about our money mismanagement (ha!) and how we're not really that lucky, and I feel like I must've had a tiny version of him in my head all this time, because all my life I've avoided gambling and buying lottery tickets (I just *know* that if I started, it'd be a slippery slope). Now, I don't know exactly when or how I came to this kind of self-awareness about my own shortcomings when it comes to money, but because of my financial troubles when I was younger, now that I'm 31 it's gotten to the point where I use a written list and a calculator at the grocery store when shopping so that I can manage my money better. Seriously, ISFP + financial responsibility = a natural disaster waiting to happen! (ROFL)

As an ISFP I was once very manipulated by an ESFJ in my workplace due to being payed attention to, rather than any vanity. I used to feel unconsciously (pre personal growth work) that I was unimportant 'nobody special' and that my opinions were insignificant. So, when an ESFJ payed me a lot of positive attention, naturally enough I responded well. However, in a team of about 15 people, she manipulated certain selected individuals and I was the first person to realise what she was up to. I distanced myself as soon as I realised and left the job soon after. It was a pretty dysfunctional team.

As an ISFP , finding eckart tolle was great , i still got "trickstered" by pick up artistry flavoured self development. I definatelty found self assesment and finding out my own ego protecting behaviours. I ended up reading a LOT of books which always kept me humbled by my fantasies of being the popular, social manipulator, spoilt brat that doesnt have to do any work and can jsut manipulate other people to see how GOOD i am without actually doing the work. No wonder no one really can trust me for long term commitments, i hate committing , i want control and i want choice and if no one give that to me il mad at them because i gave it to them unconsciously (not even supposed to be in my power). Cool to finally see some of the negatives and now looking back at the positives, the ART is the major IMPACT that can come from this person, it has to be ENOUGH in my mind instead of "wanting more" (vantity, popularity, puffed up ego).

I’m an ISFP and relate to almost nothing in this video. I’m very skeptical of people’s intentions towards me, especially if I don’t know them well. I do not go with the flow of the majority or buy into that “your truth, my truth” nonsense. I am a researcher and seek truth. I go against the grain. I’m not bad with money. I DO want to maintain a sense of control over my creative outlets, which is why I have outlets that I do alone. I do not often do artistic pursuits with others because either I would not enjoy the outcome they produce, or they would not enjoy being controlled by me trying to produce the outcome I want. I will not do things I do not want to do, nor do I want to lead others. I like when my work is appreciated, but my true joy comes from the accomplishment itself.

I have one issue: I think CS Joseph is taking the phrase "I'm living my truth" kinda the wrong way. I know a lot of ENTP/INTPs get frustrated with it, but I do understand it. Basically, when the person isn't being an asshole, they're not saying there's no objective truth, they're saying "this is my experience, it *happened*, and I refuse to be gaslit". The reason it's become a fairly popular phrase is mostly in female and PoC circles where people constantly told that their experience didn't happen. "Oh, you were sexually assaulted, well that can't be true, here's a chart I lazily grabbed from wikipedia". Too many people on the other end of the spectrum, use this very lazy idea of 'logic' to negate other people's lazy ideas of 'anecdotal experience'. Both sides end up not understanding each other. So, the next time someone says that, take it as an opportunity to meet them in the middle. Because there's a very good chance that your mega-hyper-logic rebuttal is lazier than you think.

Nope. I don't really think I am that naive as an ISFP. As an informative person, verifying what has been said is usually my starting point, specially when it comes to job offers. I do like contracts, formality and safe grounds. And no, I do not trust or open myself to people so easily as he is saying. That's weird... But I do like being pleased, not gonna lie. And the 'selfish' , 'forgetful' part are ashamely true. Basically, I believe doing good things for people who, for some reason, are excessively nice to me, is a social commitment that I don't want to be forced to accept. Often times I do not return, and go away because these same people get upset and demanding. That is specially true with J's. I believe that if you do nice things to someone, you do because you want, I did not ask for it. Why would you expect so much in return? That's how I do charity as well, not looking back. Emotional dependence leads to a controlling behaviour that I refuse to deal with. My closest friends are the ones who give me freedom to be who I am and respect my personal space.

But my communication style are like daggers to his heart . . How do you word things to an isfp! The intention doesn't get through and he just gets stuck on the words and im terrible at words I just have a lot of them.
@jontiruell19343 жыл бұрын
@@lyminlime As an ISFP I'd recommend demonstrating unconditional love and affection through actions. For me its less about the words themselves but really you want to use words that are non-confrontational and show him your empathy and understanding for his point of view while still having your own points of view. Actually this is very important, one of the main reasons I ended a previous relationship was because the girl started to mirror my passions and interests without sharing her own, not intentionally I think but it was still a bit disappointing to me. I like someone who can be really interested in an experience I share with them and take the time and energy to do so and a small amount of mirroring is fine and can even be really nice if it is genuine. However they also need to share something, not even an experience necessarily (could be an insight into how they view the world which I'm sure will be fascinating from an INFJ, or there taste in music or anything really) that is in some way 'theirs' and I can enjoy because as an ISFP sharing something is almost always a heightened experience for me. Idk if this will help you at all, how's it going with your relationship?

ISFP here, had INTP girlfriend who used covert contract, didn't work and it's not going to work, and the relationship ended. She would only complain after the fact that i don't do things for her because she did, and i'd call her out that she shouldn't do it if she doesn't want to or if she expects something in return, she'd better say it to me me, so i have ability to say no, and might do that, which could piss off the INTP or ESFJ for example, because i'm taking their ability to care for me. That glorifications sure worked for a long time tho, but enough experiences usually leads to verify, especially when it comes to trust with money, because i don't trust anyone with that . P.S thanks for the typing session Chase , great content, keep calling out every single type for their bullshit so they can actually better themselves instead of being ignorant . :)

This video really has me questioning my type. I really did not relate to the work-scenarios. I've always been a very hard worker. I actually do work hard, I don't just manipulate by trying to look like I am. Now, at home, I can plan on doing this or that and mismanaged time and end up screwing off and not accomplishing what I intended. Other times I accomplish so much even at home. I'm sometimes lacking solid direction, and have a hard time making decisions about my future. I had trouble with humility as a kid/teen/young adult, but mostly I was just surrounded by people emotionally manipulating or shaming me, and I'm not apologizing to people so they can further use it against me, I'm not that dumb. To those I have solid relationships with where there is trust, I can definitely admit wrong and show humility. I do agree shame holds me back and embarrassment is real. I also don't ever feel flattered by esfj. Instead I feel led or bossed around. Maybe I just suck at typing and maybe I and all my esfj friends are really some other type....ugh, this is frustrating.

I had an interesting, to say the least, upbringing where I would "battle" the Fe of my maternal ESFJ grandmother. One time, she reminded me that I had written some descriptors about myself on a paper that she still had in her possession. She stated, with an air of overperformance about how hurtful I was towards myself in those descriptors. How terrible she felt about it. How painful it was to read what I had written about myself. Not remembering what I wrote I demanded to see that piece of paper. In my mind I wanted to confront those words, my old thoughts, process them and become better. She refused to show me. It was as if, and to me, it was her stating that she "loved" me so much that she was holding onto the burden of grief and negative thoughts that I had about myself. She was the "keeper" of my pain. Because of this, she was doing me this huge favor, or service and I owed her, enter covert contract. I saw this and this infuriated me. Looking back at all of it, those type of interactions and realizations strengthened my resolve.

I’ve always been super paranoid that I’m selfish probably Bc I know I can be selfish and self centered even though I genuinely don’t want to be. But I had a few revelation moments in my relationship with my ex where I actually humbled myself to see I really wasn’t that great and that I really hurt him Bc of my selfishness. but then I realized that it’s ok to see the bad parts of myself, that I will be fine and it doesn’t have to define me. Instead I can focus on changing and becoming better and I get to take responsibility for who I’m becoming, it’s not just good luck or bad luck that determines my outcome, it’s my choices and actions. I now value to truth way more than flattery even if it hurts me because I don’t want to hurt others anymore. Thank you for the kick in the butt, Bc ironically the fear of being selfish and bad was keeping me that way. But once you can see the darkest part of yourself and accept it, you can actually start working on it and move forward in growth. Thank you, thank you!

It wasnt until the end that I realized its just because i've already been burned and jaded before and that action of being jaded and held accountable and losing a lot of what I cared about (through my own hubris, and not realizing how my actions hurt others) really made me a more cautious person and more willing to sit back and do research before allowing my Se to immediate respond with how my Fi is feeling at the time. It took forever to learn that, but I'm really glad I did and at this point in my life I like to THINK im thriving, but im my own worst critic and I know I still have forever and a day to get where I need to be. I used to let Ni child sit there and go 'go big or go home! you're only ever gonna work for the Big names!' and I still think that, but theres better checks in play. I have better people in my life. I know I cant just leap, I have to build platforms and steps and know that I'm able to actually achieve goals. IDK as an ISFP this was super hardd hitting, but also super enlightening (even though i was scared i wasnt an isfp because im just so paranoid of those coming in and falling into the flattery trap). So thank you! And also, haha, as someone else said, I actually did watch this while working on art for my job. Go figure!

I’ve just discovered my personality type (ISFP) recently and are looking for resources for self improvement. I’m so happy to have stumbled upon this video, and I want to thank you so much, for making this. All my life people around me have been saying nice things to me, and this kind of honest “lecture” is what I really need to keep me grounded and realise the reality of being me. It frightened me a bit, how accurate this personality analysis can be. I would also be so glad if anyone can share with me any other resources (books, podcasts, youtube videos, etc) to help improve the weaknesses of an ISTP.

Till Lindemann, the singer of Rammstein, is an ISFP, too. Especially people who don't speak German often just see this big dude with a deep as heck voice and the heavy music - and think he's some kind of intimidating direct type, like an ESTJ or an INFJ. He's pretty soft spoken in person. And his lyrics? Poetry! It's pure art. And almost every lyricism of Till is implicit to the max. There is very little Rammstein poetries without room for interpretation. Everyone from outside Germany misses out on that. But on top of that, their perfectionist imagery is textbook ISFP just as well. Their music videos are pure art if you know the lyrics, as well are their pyromaniac live shows. I typed four of the six members of the band and I think it's ISFP, ISTJ, ESFP and INTP. The ESFP (Paul) is the second guy in charge of the imagery besides Till. It's their common art. Not sure about drummer's and bass player's types, but both kinda seem to be the two SFJs to me.

@@Auxiliariebb Well. I no longer agree with CSJ's typology framework. But I maintain that Till is an ISFP. As for the others: Richard - ENFP Paul - ESFP Flake - INTP I don't know about Schneider and Olli, but if I had to guess I'd say Schneider might be an ESFJ and Olli an ISTP. Or something along those lines.

Well, I have completely changed as an ISFP, that is for sure! After losing £130k to a fraudulent business purchase and failing many times in business, I have learnt to be distant calculating and cold at times. I have taken my foot off the pedal in terms of trusting people too soon and embodied a more objective view on life, divorcing from my emotions within. This has helped in deciphering what is authentic and inauthentic while remaining level headed throughout. The philosophy of Stoicism has helped A LOT with regards to internally validating myself, rather than fishing for flattery. Also, playing piano is the voice I use to convey my emotions on a day to day basis. In my opinion, objectivity is KEY to not being manipulated and for guiding oneself for making better life decisions.

Such an accurate breakdown. I have a few things to say from my perspective. Everything is a skill that can be trained. Once you get screwed a few times your Ti will start working a from time to time , also the responsibility aspect is a matter of hardening your ability to shame , it is possible. The one thing I object is that you behave like all successful ISFPs moneywise are artists with the conventional way. Are there no other ways to express art , Everything can be an art , Everything and anything.

There’s unfortunately not an immediate, overall fix regarding this complex issue (esp as pesticides-although not glyphosate-are also allowed in organic farming and the fact that huge numbers of people across the globe have no access to clean food-and sometimes not even clean water or ANY food and the fact that the average person in first world society doesn’t even seem to care drives my Ne parent fucking insane); however I do apologize for previously calling you wrong.

I definitely believe in absolute truth and absolute good. I absolutely hate when people talk about their different truths, because the truth of the matter if everyone has a different truth, it means that everything is relative, and if you believe everything you'll fall for everything. The thing is I didn't understand absolute truth until I came to christ, so I was probably saying this BS before LOL, but now if I say something is someone else's truth, I'm more so saying it to indicate to them that that solely is what they believe, but it's not the absolute truth. That is very true about the embarrassment thing, so I had to realize that if someone is trying to embarrass me, they are going to reap what they sow, and also realizing that the opinions and the validation of other people is not what drives me, or makes me valuable. As far as thought manipulation I guess I don't see myself as any better than anyone else at that. I think everyone tries to state their piece, but I have to admit I do purposely try to sway the thoughts of people, but not out of ill intention, or to even really get what I want. It's basically so people can be freed of any bondage that they are in, or anything false that they might be believing. You might as well do the good thing, because if you don't do the good thing, you're going to be called out for it. That has happened to me a couple of times. I have actually always been a hard worker, and never understood why there were people that would look like they are working and they weren't doing anything. A lot of the times it was just because they were good with people they were allowed to get away with it, and that was always something that bothered me, because I would work super hard and never get recognized, and then get treated like crap. So now, I do everything for the glory of god, because I know that God will recognize my hard work, and bless me for it. I think the problem is if you don't acknowledge us, and the work that we do, and people around us are doing things they're not supposed to be doing... we might just leave and do what we want like them, and not feel bad about it when you confront us, because you're not treating everybody with the same courtesy. We know it's wrong, and we feel guilty about it after some contemplation, but we still won't want to confront it because we don't feel like it's completely wrong since other people were doing it as well, and you are not confronting them. See I get this selfish thing a lot, but don't actually think isfps are any more selfish than anyone else. I think part of what it is isfps are often not selfish, so when we actually do something that's selfish, it's a surprise to people, especially the people that use us. I was friends with a few enfjs and I would always be doing things for them, but when I ask for something in return, it seems like they could never help. I had noticed with them they will often gather a group of friends to get their needs met, and it never seemed authentic because if that person couldn't meet their needs, they were no longer valuable. I typically take responsibility for my actions, but I have been around a lot of people that do not take responsibility for their actions, and often end up blaming things on me, so it kind of put me into a mindset where I had to think about whether something really was my fault or really was not my fault. I came to find that a lot of the things I was being blamed for, were not my fault. But I think when people believe they can manipulate us, everything becomes our fault. I agree that isfps are easily manipulated, that's why we have to listen to our and I I believe, that is warning us about people I've asked God for the ceramic, he's has given it to me, so when this ESFJ came in the picture about a month ago, yeah he was saying all the things that he thought I wanted to hear, saying all the things that he thought women wanted to hear etc and I would have fell for that 5 years ago, but now it's like x-ray vision for me. I think the secrets to having that kind of vision, is God of course, but letting go of self-glorification, as well as validation from people. I don't really attach myself to too much nowadays, and so people can't manipulate me as easily. If I sense somebody is trying to manipulate me, for a certain outcome, then now I just put it on the table so they can realize they don't need to try to manipulate me to get what they want. When you're not quite as concerned about the appearances of things, people cannot control you concerning those things. I realize the shallowness of appearances, so now when people compliment me it's like a minuscule second gloat and then I'm done, because really it doesn't matter. What matters is how my heart looks like, not what my art looks like. If somebody is glorify me publicly, I'm automatically going to think they are after something. And I usually don't want it. But I think the issue here is if the ESFJ is trying to manipulate people, they are going to have to look at themselves cuz didn't you get in an accident or something? It might not be people putting you in a headlock, but God always repays when we do things we're not supposed to. I think you can't really blame someone you manipulated saying they don't want to take responsibility. You need to take responsibility for being manipulative. That is funny about the covert contract. I've never heard an ESFJ do it, but I have had several ENFJ people do it That's why I try to be self sufficient, so to deter people from such things. I didn't really like reading until the Bible and it gave me eye to see these kinds of things. Looking back on my luck, and guess it wasn't looking all it was actually me reaping what I sewed. ISS can do good by others, even if they do not do good by us and again we will reap a blessing from that. It usually isn't going to be serious popularity etc, but our needs being met in peculiar ways. Great, great video and very relevant for the times! Thank you for sharing!

I'm an Isfp and I've been involved in a speech/debate class before but I always found myself siding more with facts. I felt uncomfortable on a side that had to rely more on feelings to win the debate. I also feel slightly irritated when people use their feelings to try winning an argument instead of looking at facts (not class related). But I'm 67% feeling, or at least that's what the test said. Is that enough in the middle to feel that way? I mean I get that not everyone fully follows their personality type but I felt from the video that it was a big part of an isfp make-up.
