The first Greeks that coined it, the poets had it right. The modern atheists just don't see it yet.

The Greeks had the terms and most of the atheistic arguments, so i don't understand why he insists that it's not exactly the same as modern atheism. It is exactly the same as 'academic atheism', i.e. proper atheism. Yes, it's not the same as 'new atheism', i.e. political atheism, but so what. The latter is not proper atheism. Atheism is a philosophical position, not a modernity type lifestyle. He is trying indirectly to relate atheism with secularism/humanism, i.e. new atheism, but that's incorrect! Atheism doesn't have anything to do with human rights, morality, etc. So, i don't understand this modern effort to appropriate atheism. The historicals he gives are great, as he does establish the roots of atheism in ancient Greece, but philosophically he is kind of off. 🤔
