Getting scores based only on the algs may not be possible because the way people execute the algs is also a significant factor. It's likely that different people execute the same alg differently.
@shnob4916
@shnob4916 2 жыл бұрын
The biggest differences between how people execute algs are the regrips and overworking, which are both taken into account. Two people could have the exact same alg and get a different score from the algometer because of how they perform the alg, and thus what parameters they entered.

Great video! I think there are even more ghost moves like such that deserve a factor to lower the score. Same goes for RU'R. One could create a list of ghost moves with a factor of 'ignorability' that determines how much of that move can be ignored in calculating the score. I would argue that the ignorability of the U for R'UR' would be between 0.95 and even 1 (you used 1 in your calculations). If you want help with the piece of software, ping me ;).
@CubeHead
@CubeHead 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the thing with R U’ R is that you still use your Left hand so there’s a higher chance you’re going to overwork on the next move :) and I get lot’s of messages of people wanting to help! Maybe we can make a group somehow and discuss if it would be feasible?

What about Rouxers? we tend(or at least as I am aware of) to use CMLL algorithms which puts our hand at home grip in the end( thumbs on front) for better gripping for lse. Say an alg like e perm has the lower score, but in the end it puts our hands in a weird position where we will need go do a regrip. I think this algometer thing works only for last step algorithms such as pll or zbll and not for middle steps such as OLL or CMLL. Please correct me if im wrong🙁 Anyways, great video as always man💪💯
@brunovervoort
@brunovervoort 4 жыл бұрын
And maybe recognition could be taken into account in some way?
@CubeHead
@CubeHead 4 жыл бұрын
yeah I do agree that the initial regrip of an alg should be taken in account somehow, that way the E perm an a perms would rank lower for example (which they should imo)

I don't think that you can reliably predict the algorithm's algameter parameters (other than move count and half turn count) reliably. People always come up with new non-standard fingertricks to make algorithms flow better, and these innovations cannot really be accounted for with hard rules.

Just a comment on your ghost moves optimization 5:06. I feel like sometimes these ghost moves would definitely improve an algorithm score. But if that ghost move is at the start and requires a regrip like the one you show in the video, it might not be as effective at improving an alg compared to other cases.
@vgtcross
@vgtcross 2 жыл бұрын
Thats why regrips are counted in the algometer
@vgtcross

@Logical I'm not saying that they do, I am just saying that since regrips AND ghost moves are counted, the algometer is more accurate that if they were not counted

Being a fan of both yourself and Jperm, I am wondering if "CubeHead vs Jperm" would be the most beneficial interaction. I think you guys should develop an app together, taking JPerms amazing website and back end logic and bringing it into a proper Droid/iOS app. As well as adding a solid dose of "Yoooooooooooo" to the front end.
