I converted mine to 12 volt, stripped it down to meat and potatoes, remo ed the passenger side alternator, 12 v starter, took the brain out thing runs like a charm. One thing to mention if you plan on keeping it 24 volt the starter relay under the dash could stick and fry your battery cables or at best chew up your flywheel, yeah not good. The less parts in it less parts to fail.

I get it and you are correct in all that you say, sir! I like the 24V for the NATO connector. I got the cables and the impact wrench, etc. accessories that run off it. I also own a 1028 that was converted to 12V before I bought it. That one already has push-button glow-plug, etc. Not gonna lie... I'm considering converting back to original 24V so I can have the NATO connectors back. The 1028 has 2 of them. I'm *something* of a purist when it comes to these things. Even my spin-on filter is temporary.

Good luck. Great time to work on them while we're in a sort of limbo.

Is 55 mph max or will it cruise at 65/70?
@RocknusUrbanCamouflage4 жыл бұрын
I've hit 70+, but I wouldn't say you should "cruise" any higher than 55 in this thing with the 3 speed. It already screams like it wants to spin out of the truck at 55. It's geared for pulling and pushing, not cruising.

@@RocknusUrbanCamouflage thanks for the response! I'm considering getting a CUCV to use as a work truck.
