I always tried decorating with frosting but it never gave that look I was focusing for. Thanks to your tips I finally learnt the right way to frost especially rose, nozzles and the elevating swirl. The terminology you used like blob! Was so relating. I use the same wording!!!

Great video. My only issue with it is advocating for disposable piping bags. Particularly in 2019, we know just how destructive single use plastics are to the environment, and they aren't recyclable. The nylon ones are more durable and they aren't hard to clean.

I work in a bakery and know how to hand pipe, but we do it to a larger scale (thousands of cakes daily) so we have big piping bags and fill them right up, but as there's so much cream you can't twist it to the top and squeeze from the top, instead I grab near the nozzle with my right hand, and keep the top of my bag in my left hand and do it like that. I cannot do it any other way haha
@CupcakeJemma10 жыл бұрын
That's what I do when I'm working. We very rarely need to ice ONE cupcake! Haha! More like thousands as well. Sometimes it's so full I can't squeeze it!

Can we NOT refer to the plastic bags as "disposable" (as if we don't mind our oceans & landfills filled w/more non-biodegradable plastics)? They wash up fine & w/hot water & most folks can take a few minutes for easy clean-up. Re-use...not hard at all!
@55linka7 жыл бұрын
OMG... I am so happy I have found this comment, I was scrolling down hoping there will be anybody mentioning that this is such a waste... I really liked your videos Jemma but if you consider piece of dirty plastic disposable I am not sure I want to support your business anymore :((((( I try to imagine how things look like in your bakery and if you are thinking about reducing your business' impact on environment :((((
@susankapustka70557 жыл бұрын
This seems like a bit of an over-reaction. Most bakery packaging is treated as disposable (cardboard covered in grease, or flimsy plastic clamshell containers) and this quantity makes a few bags look like nothing. If you look at how many pounds you buy, you realize how many pounds your clients throw away. Maybe we could call them "recyclable" instead of disposable.
