Oh that's cheeky. I have a Born which is about 9 months old now, that had a heated steering wheel as standard and now it's not? Agree V1 is the way to go. Heated seats would be nice, but standard kit is generous. Infotainment system is fine, too many bugs unfortunately but we all use carplay or Android auto which works 95% of the time Winter efficiency is pretty poor going from 220 real world miles in the summer to about 170 miles in the winter (58kwh version). Happy with the car overall though!

I can't believe it's illegal go make a call on your phone but having s 12 inch screen you need go look at and press buttons is fine like literally you did about 200 metres not looking at the road. It makes a mockery of phone laws. Nice vid. The car is nice but too expensive and far too low range.

Cut the melodramatics. Nowhere does it say it is illegal to make a call on your phone. If the phone is docked in a mounted cradle, and doesn’t block your view of the road, you can use it like any other touch screen in the car. Therefore, no mockery is made of anything, except people who don’t understand the law. What you are not allowed to do is physically support/hold the phone yourself and use it while driving. Just common sense. Then again, I can’t remember the last time I touched any screen to make a phone call in the car, voice control is much easier. Now, what I will agree with is that in general, touch screens for all controls is a poor UX choice for drivers and passengers alike.

The dip in the middle rear seat is apparently to ensure a third passenger doesn't sit there as the 77kw battery pushes the weight to the legal limit and no more.

@@CryinOwl That’s quite difficult to understand as I have an EV with a 83/78kwh battery and five useable seats and no such issues! Is the Cupra unusually heavy for an EV? I got one because it was a bespoke designed specifically to be an EV but it was a disaster. My current EV is an iCE design modified and is great.

I thought heated steering wheel was standard on all grades? Have they removed that from V1 now? The Cupra web site still lists it as standard on the V1, maybe they are yet to update?

Hi Darren, maybe it is, we used the info from the Cupra pr spec sheet they gave us. If it’s on the Cupra UK website then I’d expect it to be standard. Which is a great addition 👌🏽thanks for sharing that with us and stopping by to chat to us 🤗

Heated steering wheel and seats are a must. They are standard in the lowest ID3 trim. If you don't want to use the heater in winter to extend dramatically the range.

Haven’t had any problems range is better than expected and it’s faster then what CUPRA say, CUPRA say it’s limited to 99MPH I’ve done 115MPH, CUPRA say 0-60 is 7 seconds I have timed it at 5.8 seconds had no issues with the infotainment system. I wish I had enough money to get the VZ version but happy with the V2

For born built in 2024 will the glitchy infotainment be fixed? I had a Skoda hire car for 2 months, infuriating ended up using CarPlay even then it wasn’t great. My 2019 Ford infotainment works almost flawlessly.

Do any of the trim levels have lane assist and the adaptive cruise control ?? Have to admit for speedo and infotainment i think the new megane has it but cant not look at this cupra just on style tbh

@@flapper111uk I would be very careful about the lane assist and the cruise control on these. Whilst they had my Born in for charging tests, they gave me a courtesy Born which had the rather dangerous habit of suddenly slamming the brakes on on the motorway and going from 70 down to 30 or 40 in a matter of seconds, because it crossed a road underneath the motorway which had a different speed limit. I told VW about this but had no response.

Another fantastic review.I have a V2 cupra Formentor (white) but now considering a Born V3 edition but I’m an absolute nightmare trying to pick a colour though saw the Aurora blue in the showroom and it looked amazing if you guys could give your thoughts I’d appreciate it..👍

I love this car but the software lag is irritating. And while they offer live 1:1 video tutorials, the software is not the same for the tutor, despite the fact that my born (registered in March 24) tells me that my software is up to date. So the tutor is unable to solve several queries

Mine never charged properly on ac or dc! Never hits specified figures in technical drop down on website and regularly half charged overnight apparently due to a battery safety issue!! Save up for an BM i4, superb in comparison (difficult to say comparison as there is none - little wonder VW chief says roof is on fire!)

I have too say when you did the acceleration test , it was so fake how you throw your own head back. Not because of the acceleration at all😂 plus the car is already moving,, then delay and you pull your head back like it’s a rocket it’s not

@@CarChatTV yes of course it’s a good little town car , I’ve been out in one , and am looking too get the v2 e boost 58kw I don’t really need that much range and not being the 77kwh it’s also just over 100kg lighter low 6,s too 60mph is claimed in right conditions so a bit more nippy off the line and agile in the corners,, also if you turn the esc too sport it pulls and brake lots better in the corners you can feel it braking the inside wheel too get the car too turn in👍

The stated performance is 5-80% in 35 minutes on a 58(62) battery. So 75% of 58 is 43.5 so in 35 minutes it needs to average 75kwh over that range. The best I’ve ever achieved was 72 on ionity once - all this has been scheduled out to Listers and VWs solicitors in detail and none of my figures have ever been challenged at all! Not anything. Not one charge, one number: nothing. It simply doesn’t perform ever at that stated level. In contrast my BMW i4 just hits the numbers ever single time
