Im not keen on the number of cars coming without the ability to open the sunroof. I'm in central Queensland and feel like id feel like a medium rare steak at the end of a drive. I would never own a non working sun roof. Seems pointless. Is glass cheaper that metal?
@eraf2135Ай бұрын
I'm with you on that. I've also been wondering if it's a cost thing or they just find the average consumer prefers it. I'm in NSW and my preference is no sunroof too. The interior cooks in summer, even with the blind closed.

Nice review as usual Matt. I like it, but I really want a sedan, or sedan/hatch thing like how the Polestar 3, VW Arteon, Skoda Octavia etc sedans are. I'd quite like fully electric tbh, but don't like Tesla - what do you reckon? Polestar, BYD Seal, or something else? Whatever is comfy, has a good sound system, and the least ADAS annoyance and digging through menus every time you start the car to switch all the crap off. That's honestly my main concern with any new vehicle

Of the cohort of Australian reviewers publishing reviews from Spain all on the same day... You're one of the only ones to actually have the Aussie range numbers correct! I think you are the most accurate and one of the most thorough of all the reviews published today. I wonder if Cupra is holding back on pricing until the last minute so that they can be competitive with rivals who have also not announced their pricing (VW ID.5 and Kia EV5)? How much should it cost? mid-70's to low 80's drive away for the Vz. The Model Y LR AWD is similar range and performance and is 70k drive away. There is only so much more people will pay for aesthetics, and the other touches. And like it or not, as the EV SUV segment leader, the Model Y is what customers are going to benchmark this thing against (just like this review did). How much are they actually going to charge? Probably Mid 80's...

Thanks for that, and glad you found my review helpful and informative. It is going to be intriguing for VW Group to fit ID4/5, Tavascan, Enyaq and Q4 all in together price wise.

Nice one Matt. Thank you, such a tough job you have where you can claim a trip to Spain as a business expense. For me, if the top spec is around 75k AUD then I think it will be priced accordingly. Any indication as to when it will be available down under? Are they taking orders already subject to the actual amount? I just love the approach Cupra has within the VW group. Only concern is re-sale value compared to the more mainstream brands within. 👍😎🇦🇺
@therightcarАй бұрын
Thanks mate. I’ll clarify - the only expense to me was my time away from home and opportunity cost, as VW Group supported this trip to Europe and covered flights, accommodation and food. That’s typical for these sorts of events for all outlets. It’s due in Aus by December. If you finance through the Cupra Financial Services program you can lock in a guaranteed future value if you are worried about resale.

Im in Brisbane, Australia. Dealership near me advised likely have demo to drive as of 1 week of November give or take. They should then have prices as wel. As Matt said, December is when it is predicted for official delivery

Was keen for the Enyaq until it was confirmed as not having a sun shade. Can see the Tavascan does so definitely will check this out once it reaches Australia
@therightcarАй бұрын
The lack of a sunshade isn't ideal. But I'm sure you could find an aftermarket fix.

You stated needs 3 phase for charging even in AC? I thought it could be charged single phase AC and 3 phase DC? Could be a deal breaker for me if what you said is right.
@jeffshafer5336Ай бұрын
It’s not phrased the best, but you need 3 phase to get 11KW. It can charge on single phase but then you’ll only get 7KW.

Not sure why you haven’t even spoken about the Model Y as the most obvious competitor 🤷🏻
@kenphillips7594Ай бұрын
Maybe it's because Tesla initially overpriced its vehicles? Subsequent price cuts tends to expose Musk's disdain for folks.
@GumdohodiАй бұрын
Comparisons to model y: - lacks storage space (under boot, frunk) - poor infotainment UI (it's a mess) - poor tech (no app, remote connection, no fun, OTA updates) - probably more expensive

Bloody hell, how many VW wannabes do Cupra make? They are lucky in Spain not to get punctures.

I think it’s just you. But I have to say, I kinda thought the design freedom of a skateboard architecture would have meant some more outlandish and unexpected styling.
