Positives about this bike: the SHIMANO MT-201 have reach adjustment at the inside of the brake lever, so reach won't effect power, how far piston can be pressed. the Shimano brakes don't have official spare pparts, but you can get spares on aliexpress and alike. Shimano deore for example is pricier, but will be worse performing, due to having servo wave which effects power, and doesn to have bite point adjustment, but with MT-201, you don't have this issue. negatives: cranks, cus i've seen the pedals can fall off on Deore cranks, due weak alu. I've seen it hhappen to a guy on youtube, I forgot who it was on a Polygon Siskiu I think. but same thign happen to me on M552 cranks, but I doubt it was user error in any of the cases, but actually bad material choice. don't be surprised if spider bends. So these are most likely like that too. things I would have to change: install a bashguide, to keep chain on, and protect the chainrign and chain. upgrade fork. bigger rotors, cus I cook smaller rotors, or non floating rotors if smaller size. But I woudl stay away from floatign rotors, as they will eventually creak after some years of use. But rotors size is rider size and speed, riding type thing, so this might not be needed. replace stock pads with different pads, I had good luck with TRP/Tektro red semimetallic pads, great bite and doesn't crack like Shimano metallic.butt other good pads exist, I've not tried them. Install catalyst pedals, cus standard pedals on the market are too small for me, don't give arch support. install acher D1X trail. keep the rest of the drivetrain. I don't know about the hubs, if engagement is good, and hubs are good I would keep them. I would keep the brakes, unless they fail or get ruined.

Good video! Quick question. I have a 22’ Xtrada 7 in XL. I am 6’2”. I know this thing is limited to the 125mm dropper. I don’t know how tall you are or your bikes frame size. Since you have had your dropped on this a couple months, do you think it’s worth the nearly $300 (with lever) upgrade? Thanks
@JaredRMorgan2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t ride an MTB without a dropper. 125mm, although a modest drop, definitely definitely is better than nothing. I can recall in 2017 this was a quite normal drop figure even for larger bikes. In conclusion, I’d totally go for it! Thanks for watching!

Very nice sir, I just did a new dropper install on my Trek Marlin 8, so good that your Polygon has an internal routing for it, i had to run mine from under the bottom bracket and zip tied to the seat tube. Just curious why you didn't go with a shorter dropper, notice your PNW sticks out alot from the collar, so your seat doesnt drop all the way down into the seat tube collar.
@JaredRMorgan2 жыл бұрын
So with the Marlin, I always come out of the down tube, around the bb, then drill a hole in the back of the sea tube and route it internally that way. Voids the warranty, but I've done it multiple times with no issues. As for my bike, this is the longest dropper available for a 27.2 post diameter. The polygon has a weird size.

I am about to grab the 6 - I wish the seats would go lower especially on the dropper here
@JaredRMorgan Жыл бұрын
I mean I could’ve set the height lower but I need it to come up to that level. The Xtrada 6 is a great bike! I should have a link to it in the description here. Cheers!
@gzblack2750 Жыл бұрын
If you need to go lower you can also drill out the rivnut for the bottle cage. I did this on my xtrada 7. Gave me the extra room to drop the post to the top of the seat clamp. With the adjustable dropper it’s perfect for me at 5’6” on medium frame. Don’t quote me but I wouldn’t think drilling the rivnut would void warranty as this is how you replace a rivnut if you strip it.
@dod3522 ай бұрын
I know this is a couple years old at this point, but I wonder if you ever have any issues with the dropper post height? I've seen some complaints from others that the seat doesn't go low enough for their taste. I'm looking at the Extrada 7 and I have a somewhat short inseam for my height (5'9" with a 31" inseam). I like the step over dimensions but I have the issue on my current bike of the nut for the bottle cage getting in the way of my dropper and I can't get it as low as I would like it especially if I'm stopped on a hill or in rocky areas on trails.
@JaredRMorgan2 ай бұрын
I've also heard of this problem and it often stems from the placement of the bottle cage bosses - they were a non issue for me, but had it been a problem I probably would have just drilled them out. LOL! If you do this, be advised, your warranty is TOAST.

How hard would it be to add a tapered fork? Do you have to change out the entire set of headset components?

It would be smoothest to start with a fresh headset for the swap. I believe it is tapered, but unsealed…leaving a bit to be desired. Plus I don’t think the crown race would be reusable for a tapered fork.

Did you have to reroute one of the break cables from right to left, in order to fit the dropper cable internally? One of my break cables came on the right on my xtrada 7. Could I put the dropper cable in the same port as the break cable on the right or do I need to move the break cable to the left? Thanks !
@JaredRMorgan2 жыл бұрын
Good Question, so my bike actually came routed properly. If I were in your position, I would definitely re-route one of the brakes rather than have 3 cables all enter in the same side. Mainly bc all of those cables being on one side may cause the bars to want to turn.
@mtb_newbie91842 жыл бұрын
@@JaredRMorgan only one break is one the right port, so it would be a break and dropper cable on the right. That should be fine right?

My son wants to convert his 2021 Xtrada 6 to tubeless. It's a small frame with 27.5 inch tires. He seems convinced that the bike could accommodate 27.5 x 2.6 or 2.8 tires. I am skeptical but can't find confirmation either way. I noticed that your linked product only goes to 2.4. Is he right that 2.6 or 2.8 would work?
@JaredRMorgan2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t do 2.6 or 2.8…just because it will clear doesn’t mean you should. I believe the dynamics of the bike would be compromised putting what is basically a plus tire on a bike that has no infrastructure for plus tires (take the rims inner width for example).

Just got my dropper, cable & remote for my 22’ Xtrada 7. Took a look last night and realized the rear brake is routed on the right. Now my dilemma in my OCD brain, should have remove the brake line and double it up on the left with the shifter cable or leave it as is and double up on the right with the brake cable?!?
