Hello Janaca! I know that road too, I’ve been on it. If you get chance, have a look at Tim Donovan’s channel The Inner Oasis on KZbin. I came across it by chance, and it has really helped me. He knows how it feels, and has put together a really helpful course to help. Wishing you every blessing for your improved health.

If all the silver and cash was stored in a paper box the safes must have very valuable things in it. I'm happy that you got some valuables because you worked so hard on the house and so respectful to the owners. Can't wait to see what's in the safes. 🥰🥰🥰

With all the boxes you had to go through, I am glad that there were some that contained the "good stuff" There were no large silver bars, but that box still held a decent amount of valuable items. It was great to see Melissa helping with the sorting of the valuables, but the saddest part of the video for me was the removal of Hans saying, "I'm home, Honey" at the end of the intro. That was my favorite part of the intro.

The intros change over time, the cars get bought and sold, the first store exists until it doesn't, the second store is built, stocked, and it exists until it doesn't, the old house is sold and the new one is built and lived in. Old man river just keeps on rollin' along...

@April Fool.....thank goodness ! the intro was changed ! Yes, Hans was a nice guy - and he helped Alex and the family a tremendous amount......but to be honest - I never understood the appeal of that guy...( ??? ). When Hans and Alex were together - - it was like "dad joke central" - - some people find that stuff "endearing" ....but some ( like me ) find it mostly annoying. I tune into this channel to see the discoveries and try to learn about unique items. It is hard enough to sit through Alex's dad jokes and ridiculous "ancedotes"....... the whole Hans thing has run it's course.

Well he did say that he went through some of it already beforehand so the wide-eyed reaction that you're thinking 99 out of 100 people would have he either already did beforehand or coins and lower denomination bills just don't do it for him. Maybe if it was an album full of $100 bills 😳 he sure did get excited when he found that silver bar in the hoarder house underneath that bed! He was so jazzed he was shaking 🤑 after that he found a paper grocery bag full of antique American silver dollars that from what I saw would add up to a small fortune and he wasn't hooping and hollering and jumping up and down, but then again this was right after he found the silver bar so he was probably still just jazzed about that my goodness that house paid off big time!!

@AnnieWarbux

He'll get used to it. It frees his hands and saves time. It's best to keep the camera 3 ft from anything, and then zoom in, if need be. He could just edit still frames and use his voice, over.. later on. He has a lot of stuff to sort through and show us so, I can be patient. Even if I, too, feel a little seasick... 🙈
@Cantfi
@Cantfi 2 жыл бұрын
@@AnnieWarbux There is no need for him to "get used to it". That's not the style of videos he does, and not what he prefers. He's said it time and time again. Why can't people respect him, and what he wants to do on his channel. If you want to watch people unbox things from a tripod point of view, there's 1000s of other channels that you can watch.

Saving Time Absolutely IS a Factor!! 😳Hello!? Doing things 1-handed because he's filming isn't exactly Efficient. He doesn't need to do "a bunch" of editing. He could narrate a series of still shots, for all I care. Using the tripod while he sorts (with or without us) can help greatly in cataloging stuff, sharing photos of select items with others, getting rare items identified, especially when it's long distance.. photographers can understand this process! If you don't like what he is doing or the changes he goes through then DON'T WATCH!!

HI Alex, silverplate silverware sells well in large lots for art projects. The lots can be all forks or all spoons or mixed lots with serve ware too. Sell as is, don't clean. By the by, Barkeeper's Friend is a powder cleanser in a can, like Comet, that takes oxidation off silver and discoloration off stainless. Best of all it is non toxic and inexpensive. Absolutely amazing for your stainless pots and pans and faucets. It can be made into a paste to take rust off clothing too
@Janmification
@Janmification 2 жыл бұрын
With respect Diane. Barkeepers Friend is an excellent product, but it is abrasive. With silver, and silver plate, it will leave scratch marks on stuff. Goddards silver foam is much kinder to silver, and plate. Still removes tarnish, but doesn’t scratch. Very good for intricate patterns on silver.

A silver ‘foam’ type product will still remove a tiny amount of silver, by the rubbing action, but not as much as by other methods. And, whilst the hot water, piece of aluminium foil, and washing soda trick is good, it can leave a satiny sheen, rather than a high shine.

Always good to see the money and the precious metals that you find! That particular box yielded some nice items! I understand what you say about scrapping out silver, since you can sell it quicker for the silver value. It’s just a shame to see a silverware set being scrapped. There are those of us who still polish silver and use it for what it was intended for. But yeah, I get that there are not enough of us to warrant trying to sell to a collector. This whole series again shows that some people hoard a lot of random things we would consider junk. But you always find the gems among the coal!

It's not necessary to use chemicals on silver to clean and polish. You can soak it (for 15 to 20 minutes) in a sink lined with foil and a 1/2 to 3/4 C of Tide dry laundry detergent and hot water and covered with a layer of foil on top. Rinse and wipe dry with a white cotton cloth. Rub and buff as you wipe.. WALLA clean and shiny. An old guy taught me that. I love silver anything.

Good box of "littles" with some very decent items. Requires a bit of closer looks at some things. Tripod can be useful for tabletop displays. Just need practice. Stay well Archbold family. Hope you had a fun Halloween.

Alex, cutlery doesn’t ALWAYS have a silver name or stamp on them. They make good supplies for making chimes. 🎶 🎶 🎶

I rarely watch tv, but love your YT channel and find myself looking forward to your next video. It’s probably a good thing that I’m all caught up with them because if not, I’d be giving myself a day off from Saturday chores to do some binge watching 😁

Sterling silver flatware was very popular because it is anti bacterial , the best to use because of this , they also made rattles for babies to keep germs away

Renee, from the "Paper and Moose" KZbin channel, is currently going through an abandoned hoarder house. She came upon a stack of WWI and WW2 posters from Red Cross, USA etc. Plus many awesome treasures. Congrats Alex on your windfall pick, love the Predator Artwork.

@Arthur Funny you should mention Renee when the person above said Alex wasn't excited enough brought me to thinking of Renee when sees some kind of poster like yesterday she got so excited about it she can hardly contain herself or the elves from a viewer I have to laugh at her sometimes but Alex has been doing this for so long and he's a guy (you know what I mean by that) he has probably seen everything over and over again so just not as exciting the 50th time around 🇨🇦🦩

Hey Guys! I think all those little plastic 'charms' that were in the cigar box, are actually prizes from 'Cracker Jacks' from back in the 70s when they still put toys in the boxes. So exciting!

I have a vast elephant collection, some expensive some not, but my favorite is a little green plastic elephant from a Cracker Jacks box that walks. And recently when my family discussing what things in particular they wanted from my estate, the first thing my son

As a child, I tried to be the one to set the table so my place would have stainless steel, not the silver plate. Anything acidic, like saliva, salad dressing, or tomato sauce will pick up the taste of silver. Yuck! When I got married, one of my mother's friends wanted to buy me some place settings of my silver pattern, but I hadn't registered one. I told her I didn't want silver, so she bought me stainless for 8. She ran an antique shop btw, so that was my early training in good old stuff. Yes, I think of her whenever I use that set. I still have every piece.
