1.) avoid: SULPHATE any kind - removes natural oils Silicons - a plastic cast that frizz and prevents moisture - not water soluble - anything with ends with ‘CONE’ Alcohol - drying on the hair 2.)research about the product and look at the ingredients 3.) dont use heat in hair 4.) dont use basic bath towel

Try lye based soaps you want a lot of lather while washing because they are sulfate free and the original way of washing your hair. My favorite lye based soaps are goat milk soaps and Aleppo, (olive oil based,) soaps.
@EHCBunny4real6 жыл бұрын
A by-product of lye-based soap is vegetable glycerin which is good for the hair.
@amixeblu6 жыл бұрын
@@EHCBunny4real, soaps are alkaline though, so an ACV rinse might be in order. I prefer to wash with pH balanced regular (drugstore) shampoos. I don't avoid sulfates or silicones. I just wash my hair like I always have, I just double condition (or double mask) and I have no issues. I have wavy/curly hair, but I have an oily scalp, so it is necessary to give it a good cleanse. I also have SD, seborrheic dermatitis and you don't want to mess with that. Sulfates help me *hugely* - it's not all bad. Some people can't go CG fully.

@@amixeblu I use the shea moisture shampoo and conditioner with hibiscus and coconut oil. It's meant for thick curly hair but I use it and I have thin hair it works really good to clean my scalp and get rid of any leftover product, not that I really use any. After my shower I either put in olive oil or grapeseed oil on the ends, or basically whatever oil is in front of me. Or I wait until its dry to put it on.

I have a question about the sulfates. Sulfates help with cleaning your hair, it does remove the natural oils in your hair and scalp however your conditioner is supposed to replenish and restore that so it cancels out no?
@SueRosalie3 жыл бұрын
sulfates are quite a harsh detergent and overstimulate oil production. You only want to remove excess oils not strip your hair of all natural oils. Shampoos with non-sulfated cleansers are kinder to your hair. Conditioners do a different job to cleansers. Conditioning and moisturising are two different things. To moisturize is to restore both water and oil to your hair to keep it healthy and stop breakage. Conditioning is to deposit product on the cuticle to help fill the gaps and smooth down the cuticle to give your hair some protection and give it the soft feel that people associated with hair being moisturized.
@TaylorS04103 жыл бұрын
@@SueRosalie hey thanks for replying! One more question: i finally found an affordable sulfate free shampoo but the matching xonditioner has the sulfate thats typically found in shampoos. Why is that? Is it okay to use?

Can anyone tell me what a cast is? 😫 Everyone says you have to build it but I have no idea what that even means
@GenaMarie4 жыл бұрын
A cast is the "crunch" you get from products with hold such as gel and mousse! Getting a cast on your curls is a good thing because it will hold their shape and prevent frizz! Most people like to scrunch out the crunch/cast once its 100% dry to soften their hair for a fuller, more natural look. Without hold, curls can fall flat and be fluffy and frizzy.
@SueRosalie3 жыл бұрын
it's the crunchy coating that gel makes on the outside of your hair. Like old fashioned setting lotion and rollers, it holds the shape of your hair in a curl. It changes the bonds in the hair. Once dry the hair will stay that way until next time it is soaked. Crunching out the cast just breaks up the crystals of gel and disperses them to reveal the soft hair underneath.
