She is totally adorable!! And curly hair goals! 🤗 I just made a curly “people” 😂 shampoo bar this week! (My son also has crazy hair like me. 😅 My daughter has curl too, but not the cray. 😊) I already love it! My hubby used it to shave this morning and it works great as a shave bar too! 🎉 I make ozonated oil soaps for a wholesale account, and decided to use the ozonated jojoba recipe (10% O3 jojoba with olive and coconut) as my base, then: Added castor oil (to raise sf to 11% for dry, frizzy hair) Added 1 scoop of coconut milk powder Added 2 t. honey Added 1 T colloidal oats Added essential oils (cypress, rosemary, cedar) I also added about 1/2 oz of neem oil. It’s soft right now of course, but performs like a dream so far. I’ve been wanting to send you some of the ozonated bars and see what your thoughts are and if you have any nerdy science stuff to geek out on! 😄 Can I send a package to your soap shop address? I also made something similar to your AC beard wash with the same O3 jojoba recipe, as well as a fancy face bar ☺️ with French green clay, rose petals, etc- also adding castor to adjust the sf to 7-8% for those. They also feel amazing! Thank you for sharing soooooooo much with all of us! You’re definitely contributing to making me a better soaper! ♥️

Thanks Mrs Soap & Clay for all your inspirational videos, loving the shampoo bars videos. I started using the curly hair shampoo bar (older version). I've got a challenge for you. I've got thin structured hair that curls but I've got a lot of it. Now here's the kicker. I've got ehlers-danlos syndrome so my hair is like elastic. When it gets wet it snaps. I got into soap for this reason (and hopefully you'll see my channel soon) but I do the highly moisturizing, multiple rounds of conditioner, and I'm still at a loss. I'm not 100% sure what direction to go in now that the moisturizing doesn't strengthen. Any advice at this point would be welcome.

Could your hair possibly be pomaded and powdered instead of water washed? I would watch abby Cox’s videos about hair pomade and powder. I did this method for over six months with weak limp hair and it really worked at the time. Our ancestors rarely if ever washed their hair with water and it might work for you.
@kellyburrett1967 Жыл бұрын
@@Hippidippimahm I'll look into that, thank you for the lead. That would be ironic as hell. Get into soap making to find a shampoo that would work for me and end up not using shampoo at all.
@MrsSoapAndClay Жыл бұрын
Hey Kelly! Ehlers Danlos is such a complicated condition, and as I’m sure you know, so many of your symptoms are best managed through your diet and supplements. I know that collagen infused shampoos have ultimately not worked well for ED, but have heard some positive things about magnesium et al. I would start with talking to my doc or naturopaths about it and go from there. Just like you can’t out-exercise a bad diet, you really can’t fix hair concerns like that with a cleanser. Best of luck!

I ran into a you-tuber who grew her hair long, "the Victorian" way. Search for Katherine Sewing Victorian hair growth. She used a clay once a month and ran oils through her hair to keep it healthy, so it would grow past her shoulders. I was in a play and looked up long hair one time, and KZbin sent to me her channel...so I got hooked and now I haven't cut my hair for 18 months. Now I make soap No chemicals! I LOVE Soap and Clay! I actually went out to the Salton Sea (I live in Palm Springs) and harvested some bentonite clay from the mud volcanoes...so I have Coachella Clay in my soap! I don't sell it, just make it for myself and family. It is the most appreciated thing when I give someone for a tip for being kind or helping someone. Or now, I'm making indigo colored soap as wedding party gift for a friend's child...who is now old and getting married! This is such a satisfying hobby!

Instead of kaolin clay, consider bentonite clay sometimes.
@MrsSoapAndClay5 ай бұрын
I use all kinds of bentonite but wouldn’t think to do so in a curly hair formulation because of the amount of moisture it can absorb. Have you found it to be useful for textured hair? That would be fun to play with if so!
@peepla75 ай бұрын
I used to use bentonite clay as my shampoo with just water and a little oil. Then when I learned to make soap...I add it sometimes. As shampoo bar...it lifts the dirt and it doesn't strip the hair. I let the other ingredients handle other aspects...like aloe for moisture. I always have bentonite clay cuz I can get it at Walgreens and Walmart. Kayolin Clay has to be special ordered online, that's why I asked. I've used it. But I didn't know if there's a science behind it other than family tradition.
@peepla75 ай бұрын
By the way, if you ever hear of a mud wash....that's bentonite clay.

@MrsSoapAndClay Жыл бұрын
Hey! Hot process speeds up saponification and increases the amount of initial water loss, but is not a guaranteed method to achieving full water loss (or cure) faster than cold process. You can do this recipe via hot process, however, with no changes to the recipe required. Keep the bars in a cool area with minimal humidity to get a faster “cure”. Have fun!
@Coachellasoaps Жыл бұрын
@@MrsSoapAndClay I live in Palm Springs. You say cool area. Why so?. It is hot outside 110 in the shade, with 8-11 percent humidity. Inside, I am at 82-84 degrees with about 25-30% humidity. I do weigh my bars and inside still take about 4 weeks to settle at a weight. I was wondering if I could "cure" them faster by keeping them outside. Any thoughts? I love your work. You amaze me and for being a scientist/chemist you are so creative!
