Curried Chicken with Aloo (Potato) | Taste of Trini

Hey guys, here's an updated Curry Chicken recipe--with aloo or potato. It can be eaten with rice or roti and it's extremely delicious!
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken- cleaned and washed
5 aloo or potatoes- pre-boiled for about 10 mins
2 tbsp green seasoning
5 leaves of shadon beni/bandanya- chopped or pounded
4-5 curry leaves or karrapillai leaves
1/2 onion chopped finely
1 tbsp curry powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp roasted geera or cumin powder
1/2 tsp amchar or black masala

+Taste of Trini true that but my wife and her mother makes it almost the exact same way you do with the Aloo , Geera , Thyme, chief curry powder, the pepper , green seasoning , ect , ect , ect my wife and my inlaws are straight from trinidad my father inlaw still lives in trinidad

I grew up very close wth a Trini family and this was my absolute favorite dinner their mom Susheila made. I always stayed for dinner if this is what she was making! Now I’m going to try my hand a making it myself. This looks closest to how hers looked of all the videos I saw when I searched for “Trini Curry Chicken & Potato”, the picture on the thumbnail looks exact! I really hope it tastes like hers did too🤞The only thing I’m not brave enough to try to make is her roti, at least not how Susheila did it! She was a pro, she did it on some sort of a thin round pan, right over the flame on the stove top! I was always amazed when I watched her do that!! I have such fond memories of the time I spent in their home ♥️

I like how you add the bandhania and amchar masala, haven't seen anyone add that to curry before. I can't wait to try this without the chicken! Just curry aloo!

I like mines long water sometimes. Tight is good too; sometimes with dosti roti

So I tried making curry with Geera and masala and it turned out really bad :( Do you have any suggestions? Also do you recommend and curry brands?

+nippon359 Hey, sorry to hear that. I would suggest adding more geera at the end and letting it reduce, so it would be more like geera chicken. I usually love to use Taj Madras curry or Cariherb. I also heard Kala Brand is also good as well. Depending on where you live, i'm not sure where you can find those
