I love it - doesn't claim it's 'indian' or 'authentic'. nice and quick - sure it tastes nice too!

I'd definitely add more liquid. A can of canned tomatoes and some sour cream/yoghurt instead of the tomato paste. I don't like dry rice ;)

Dry rice for me is not a problem as I prefer my rice to be in single grains as opposed to being mushy & Claggy. What does need liquid is the curry, as that is way too dry. I definitely suggest water to & let the curry simmer on a low heat for at least 15-20 mins. I love chickpea curries as there are so many variations you can make. one of my favourites is to add creamed coconut or you could use coconut milk to give you a rich creamy gravy or sauce, then finish off towards the end adding some cheery plum tomatoes & spinach leaves.

1 can a whole fat coconut milk would be good imo

Nice try... However, you could enhance this dish very easy with just a few changes. Using red onions will give it a more sweeter taste and fresh tomatoes and cilantro together with a touch of garam masala at the end will give it a more moist and richer feeling.

May I make a small suggestion that will improve? Add some liquid after the chickpeas, a little or as much as you like, to make it as a 'masala'/sauce-like. Take it from this chika (an Asian in London) as this small step will improve the dish!

@sarahcarey98410 жыл бұрын
I guess leave it out, it is a major flavor component though.....hmmmm. more onion and garlic i guess. and maybe more curry powder (though i imagine some curry powders have ginger in them). you could use cumin, coriander and turmeric instead of the curry powder if you are concerned.

TimeMarchingOn Yes! I love it now, though! The first time I tried cilantro was when I went to my favorite local Brazilian restaurant near closing time, and I thought that maybe they had to quickly wash a pan to prepare what I ordered and hadn’t rinsed it thoroughly. I should’ve known better; everything they made was always excellent!
