Hey so I noticed that your clear prints came out really well so I was wondering if you had thought of the idea to make adjustable flight stands for siege soundwaves minions with a 5mm plug plug at the base and an adjustable 5mm hole on the end for soundwaves minions to peg into because I've looked for one but I haven't found any?

Truly an astounding job you have done. I wish we saw Astrotrain do train things more as you said. Lazy Eyebrow this is down right amazing. I love the title card, Thomas just minding his own business when suddenly a purple streak of a locomotive just flys by. I can just hear him saying: Sweet cinder and ash, what the heck was that?! Not to mention Astrotrain looks friggen astounding, you could bring that to a model show and I may not recognize that it’s Astrotrain at first because it looks so damn good and is very close looking to the real life basis for him. While the flickering light may be annoying, I think it really works in the back as if the blast effect is blazing. And perhaps the front is just flickering because Astrotrain is millions of years old. I don't know. I just think the flickering light is cool. Edit: Maybe if you ever do a stop motion skit with siege astrotrain, you can have this one as his alt-mode with a fig swap.

This is great, nicely done! I had a D-51 HO body back when I had plans for a whole series of custom 1/87 Transformers, but when I did my big purge of everything not 1/24 scale it was sold. I still would like to get an Astrotrain to go with my cars some day, but it's going to take a lot more room than what I have now.

Answers to a few of the questions you had in the video. Model railroads don't often have the best track conductivity or continuity, because of this locomotive manufactures like to have long pickup bases to give the locomotive the best chance to pass over small areas of dead track. Most locomotives with a tender will use that tender for pickups whether old or new production. With the introduction of sound and DCC controls manufactures have even more reason to have pickups, decoders, and sound systems in a tender. That motor you had to rewire looks like a standard model a lot of old locomotives used, if it ever gives you more trouble you can probably buy a spare or just ripe one out of a cheap locomotive from ebay.

To answer your question about why the power pickup is run through one side of the tender, its to spread out powere when crossing over points. Looks great by the way!

I recently tried a custom electronics project not unlike what you're doing here, it worked fine for a bit... until it just decided to NOT work anymore, and I had no idea how to understand the help I sought on fixing it. It's definitely been a learning curve. A recent project i did was soldering in a switch pro circuit board to a broken xbox steering wheel. So now my daughters can play mario kart with gyro steer but have the steering wheels buttons work fpr items. Now THAT was a project and a half haha

I actually think the micro-arcing and the LED’s flickering adds to the realism factor. While yes, it’s not realistic for the train to be producing electricity and burning the tracks, it is realistic that the rocket engines would burn dirty, and potentially dirty up the tracks that way. Also, we could say that Astrotrain’s been having issues with running Rich on his rocket fuel or Cybertronian equivalent, thus explaining away the flickering LEDs. Side note: GOOD LORD, that render of a shuttle compared to the D51 is so massive! And I’ve been to the Smithsonian and saw the Discovery for myself!

@@TheLazyEyebrow and it was so close to finding a figure of proper size. The Giant is roughly 50 feet tall. But the closest action figure available to his scale size is a 9 inches tall. 2 inches too big. And if you really wanted to be picky and try finding exact measurements/proof. The battle scene and junkyard scenes would be the best to look since the tanks are the M41 (I believe). And just reference the size of the car he’s holding when playing spaceship.

The reason for the wheel power pickups is so that when the model goes over points and the gaps between the rails it doesn't stop

that is why multiple wheels get different points yes. this model relied on contact with the axles vs the insides of the wheel, thus facilitating the really round about way of sending power from the tender. seems like a lot of work vs just making a second set of pickups for the inside of the other wheels

Honestly, I kinda like the flicker effect on the LEDs for the thrusters in the back, even if it is a flaw. Kinda adds a little bit of unintentional life to the train, and makes the blast FX parts used seem a bit more lively.

I love your work! I've been trying to get something like this made for O-scale, but have run into hiccups like yourself. My own research confirmed Astrotrain to br a JNR D-62, with a 2-8-4 wheel arrangement. (While the leading wheel is molded on Astrotrain's front panel, just under the axle for the toy's front wheel, the space for trailing wheels (where the hinge for Astrotrain's wing is located) is too big for one axle. Thus, 2-8-4 Berkshire.) The problem is, the only available version of the D-62 I've seen is in N-scale. That being said, I found I identified the right engine due to the placement of all the details (hoses, whistle, boiler deflectors). ANYWAY... I love how you changed him from a tender locomotive to a "tender optional" locomotive. He can carry a fleet of Trailer-Train trailers and autoracks, or run circles around Gordon and James. As for your lighting issue, flickering in the back is good. Whether he's burning rocket fuel or Energon, I wouldn't expect to "see" a constant flame, but the front headlamp is a different story. I hope to eventually get my project off the ground. So far, all I have is a cargo... enough Energon cubes to fill 2 Lionel 9100 series gondolas (about 10") -- a lighted set and non-lighting.

Is there any rolling stock or Cybertronian rolling stock planed for the future? Maybe some Energon hoppers both in a Earth based format (like a Bethlehem 100ton coal hopper) or what ever Cybertron would have for an equivalent?

To haul Energon, I've been using Lionel's (1/48; about 9-10" long) 9100 series Gondolas (same as the 6462 series, but all-plastic for 1980s starter sets). The cubes are 3rd Party... one set lights up, and a slightly smaller batch that didn't. Had I not used these, I would have bought Glow-in-the-dark Purple "Radioactive" boxcars. I haven't found a true replica for a 2-8-4 Astrotrain; my fleet consists of a 2-4-2 CNJ steam engine, a "Warbonnet" Santa Fe Alco Diesel engine, and a black Southern Railway Fairbanks-Morse "Trainmaster" Diesel.
