The 169KW is measured at the flywheel which translates to about 125kw at the wheels. The 182kw they got at the end of the video is also measured at the wheels so the engine itsself is probably making 220-230kw at the flywheel.

Yes I'm 100% sure. Just like my brothers BMW 525i LCI (218hp stock) was dyno to 221hp, and my friends civic type r (201hp stock) was dynoed to 203hp. They've always matched the numbers from the factory... except ofcourse if it has like 400.000km and is really "tired" ofc it would lose some hp. At 4:37, I hope that was a slip of the tongue. You lose gauge pressure because the small turbo can't provide the flow rate. The large turbo can provide higher flow rate, therefore maintains gauge pressure. The two turbos aren't providing the same boost pressure, that's why there are gains

No the ecu won't lose the tune if its reset. There is a tuning mode that you can use that will do that but it will lose everything and will not go to stock. It wont even crank. Not exactly sure why you would want to do that though. But no it won't reset in the mode they used.
@samurphy12 жыл бұрын
two smaller turbos will spin up faster but run out of boost before one huge one would, but one huge one would take longer to spool up. depends on your application as to which is better.
@oldfashionedwrx357412 жыл бұрын
this test was done at the wheels, you lose power in all cars due to drag, friction in the drivetrain. they got 180kw at the wheels that is fast.... they weigh around the same as a wrx sti as well. tho then u dont get the features of a wrx sti like dccd, and other features to make it handle better etc but this is a practical daily drive as well.. as the guy said he is working with real people for real driving

Not if you know what you're doing you won't. A stock mk5 GTI has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 and runs somewhere in the range of 14 psi from the factory. Or as another poster pointed about, 28 PSIA.
@jpm90148 жыл бұрын
"more air flow = more power, for the same amount of boost pressure", In this case the small td04 is unable to produce the same amount of boost pressure in the top end compared to the bigger turbo since the air flow to the cylinder is higher. Apply the perfect gas law.

The turbo install video is actually missing from this playlist, it's called "how to upgrade your turbo"
@curo7212 жыл бұрын
You can turbocharge your engine if you'd like. The only problem (as pointed out) is the fact that your compression ratio is so high that you can't safely run a whole lot of boost before you risk engine damage. However, the mk5 GTI engine has an engine that has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 right from the factory. From my minimal research, 250-300 whp should be fairly attainable. But if you are to turbo your car, do A LOT of research first. Then when you think you know everything, read more.

stock sti's dont make 300hp to the wheels. those figures are measured from the flywheel by the manufacturer. if you consider that this vehicle loses almost 20% power through the drivetrain, then calculate 245x1.2= 294hp at the flywheel which is not too shabby at all.
@bunsofsteeeel12 жыл бұрын
the bellmouth downpipe is still very restrictive you can see when they are reinstalling it! the VF35 is a good turbo and has no spooling issues but a openmouth downpipe would have helped alot with spool!

The only reason I can fathom that you would need to upgrade your memcal for is for faster data logging. good job guys but if you want to get more power you should change the comp ratio of each cylinders going down 1 point or 2 or more (need to check the comp ratio stock first) so you can pump more pression inside. It is an easier way to get your engine not working close to detonation. Ciao

starting to learn more about tuning and I love this video. And another is your spark timing table would be awesome to see. But awesome videos you guys, you made me a new fan of the show.
@zombieregime10 жыл бұрын
the fuel pump should be running constantly keeping a steady pressure in the fuel rails. the injectors(which are just solenoid driven pin valves) are fiddled at 85% duty cycle. depending on the injector design, thats well within operational limits.
@grungeman0610 жыл бұрын
still a lot of duty cycling for a OE pump tho. I think most scan tools only limit 70% at most for testing. But ya you can run it at that rate but it probably won't last that long.
@hydrochloricity10 жыл бұрын
Thomas G. It's not the pump running at that DC. On turbo Subarus, the ECU normally runs the pump at 70% DC via a PWM box, and under boost ramps it up to 100%. Most fuel pumps are designed to run at 100% duty cycle and last hundreds of thousands of miles, and NA 'roos just have switched power. All or nothing. The 85% DC that's talked about is the fuel injector duty cycle. 90% is the rule-of-thumb limit for overhead on injectors.

A stock 350 had 255 hp, and that's crank hp not wheel hp like they are measuring. Now you're probably thinking, but the LT-1 in the '70 Corvette had 370hp. Yes it did, but that was using the old method of measuring hp (gross hp) which involved removing most engine powered accessories and changing exhaust headers, creating a extremely inaccurate hp value for the stock car. When the LT-1 was measured with net horsepower (the new form of measurement) it only had 255hp at the crank.
