Finally trying the custom foundation app MatchCo that a couple of you wanted me to try! Did it work? Was it dark enough?! Watch and find out!!

I have dark skin, though not as dark and lovely as yours, and I got a way lighter shade. I called, took pictures in better lighting and sent a picture. I got a new foundation, without returning the original order, and it was perfect! Try giving them a call.

Brianna Thomas There are extremes on both ends that are really left out and it's sad. For both very pale women like myself and very deep colored women like Nyma. Foundation companies generally just care about the "average, most purchased" colors and don't bother with the extremes on either end :/

Anna Dunbar the foundation in the pic is literally black colored. She is a very dark brown, not black skin. Both shades are off and at this point it isn't worth it to give them another try. They messed up delivery and the product and the coverage is nothing special.

The product isn't anything special unless its your exact skin tone which is very difficult to get accurately based on an app. Has it been perfect for her, maybe she should reorder but I totally agree, I think this was a total dud for her and it makes me sad because she is so incredibly beautiful and this would have been a great example of a good product for women of color. Its too bad, really.

Oh yeah, the undertones are a bitch. I have a lot of yellow and olive undertones (because I'm part native) and it's so frustrating to get proper foundation. I have been struggling a lot to find proper makeup that match my skin tone, and I'm not even dark skinned. :( Can't imagine how it is like for black women. I wonder if asian women also struggle with that.

I ordered from them & my 1st order was too dark. I emailed them & rescanned in brighter indoor lighting. I also sent my picture with 1st match as reference. Kai reviewed pics & provided me with a code for a replacement at no charge. I did not have to return the 1st match. I am pleased to say I got replacement today & it was a perfect match.

Also I'm pretty sure it says to go somewhere out of natural sunlight and studio lighting, so maybe that could've influenced the shade but honestly I think she just sent you the wrong color. I’m fair and severely struggle trying to find shades for me in store or online, but seeing your struggles make me thankful that I can eventually find things. But, wow, almost no one makes things that work for your shades and even then you have to adjust them. I love what you do, showing everyone there are real problems with makeup shade ranges. But that still isn't super accurate, many people have different undertones to different areas of the body, especially those with medium or dark complexions. My inner wrist is pink toned, for example, while the rest of me is either red or olive toned, with olive foundations providing the most natural look for me.

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought (though I never questioned or looked more into it) that one of the most reliable ways to find your undertone is by looking at the colour that the veins in your wrist appear, blue(pink), green(yellow) or in the middle for neutral. I don't see how they could truly match your skin colour through phone camera images anyway as there are just too many variables like light, different resolutions, etc.

I think what happened is the person handling the re-do looked at the colours the app gave and presumed something had gone wrong with the lighting and just took the inner wrist colour as the whole truth.

I think it's because as a white woman I can't really use the tips and ideas a much darker skinned person is trying out on her skin. I don't think it was a mix up because I've heard that past a certain skin colour (which isn't even that dark) they just Send you a random colour even tho it comes up with a perfect match on camera, you should definitely try Lancôme tho because it's 100% your colour😊
