Custom Install of an iPad Mini in a Camaro

Our customer wanted to do an iPad instead of a car radio in their Camaro. We took a Metra dash kit for that car and cut in half. Then extended it to the length we needed to fit the iPad mini. We then molded in an ABS pocket for the iPad to sit into. An apple lightning connector was used as a means of charging and that cable was installed so the iPad mini could be docked in and out. The new piece was then body worked and prepped for paint. After painting back to the factory color we used black suede flock the location where the iPad mini will sit. This gives a soft OEM like feel that protects the iPad as well as holds it in place while driving. Then the HVAC controls were put back in the Metra/iPad kit as well as the LCD read out above the iPad mini. We then installed an Alpine power pack for amplification as well as a PAC audio harness to retain door chime OnStar and other features. A JL Audio RCA level controller was used between the Bluetooth adapter and the power pack. This allows for a volume control. The car was put back together tested and delivered to the customer.
