I'm in a few WJ groups on FB, lots of folks want those mounts for JK bumpers. Since you can get 12 JK bumpers for the price of one good quality WJ bumper. If you just started making some and shipped. You could make a lil side money.

Unfortunately I sold it. (I miss it a lot) But I mounted the jk bumper by fabricating some brackets that came through the openings in the front of the unibody, the bumper needed to sit higher so I just had to add upwards onto those brackets to make a plate that the bumper could be bolted onto. Overall not too difficult of a task as long as you have some drill bits, a welder, and an angle grinder.

@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 4 жыл бұрын
brandon rodriquez Thank you! Yes I went with a Tom woods double Cardon rear drive shaft. If you intend on doing something similar I would recommend doing a transfer case swap first along with a slip yoke eliminator so you’ll end up with a similar driveshaft but with the slip joint built in. A lot of durability gain in doing it that way.

What about speed sensors did you have to do something different with the tone rings?
@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 3 жыл бұрын
Funny enough I just wired the existing sensor cables to the cables coming from the OEM speed sensors on the super duty axle and with the tires I had on there it was totally accurate. The speedometer worked great but sometimes it would cut out but that’s probably because of the connections or something.

Comment from Grand Cherokee owner from down under, smik looking jeep mate! Can you or one of your followers tell me why you guys have those weird shaped front bumpers ( we call them roo [kangaroo],or bull bars). Never seen that style in Australia?
@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 4 жыл бұрын
whoveniledelinquent changing the front bumper was definitely one of the next things I was going to do but the idea is when you’re off-road the front of the bumper would push against something like the ground on a steep decline to give you more traction in the rear tires to keep moving. I like to wrap my tow rope around it too.

Some questions. Why did you use the AAM 10.5 instead of the Ford 'Sterling' 10.5 that would have come on the Super Duty? It would have been a match on brakes, hubs, etc with the SD front Dana 60 and in 2012+ come with an e-locker from the factory. Did you keep the OE brakes in the front and rear? This is the first I heard of moving the wheels back on a WJ. How far can the wheels be moved back until the rear floor pan/fuel tank become an issue? Your wheels are cover the front hubs. Did you retain the Ford SD Dana 60 auto/manual locking hubs? Did you add a locking differential to the front? The Clayton WJ long arm uses stock brackets in front and stock lower brackets in the rear. What brackets did you use on the axles? Thanks, David
@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 4 жыл бұрын
Kept the brakes that came on the axles but would definitely recommend changing the master but it still didn’t have any problem stopping. I think price and availability played a big part in why I got these axles. I used a tj truss a bracket kit for the rear axle and made my own brackets for the front but wanted to do a jk swap kit on the front. After I tucked my tank I really didn’t have an issue with the axle hitting the skid after some minor trimming on the truss. Also the caps on the rims just covered the hubs and didn’t interfere

@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 4 жыл бұрын
I was running the 247 but had plans to upgrade to the 242 HD or even I think it was the 241 or 231. Stronger and a better aftermarket was what I was looking for but you also gain the two wheel drive only.

Quick question for you. Im looking to build a rig very similar to this one. I know you sold this rig. I know there are 3 differant 4wd systems for your jeep. Did you have any issues (binding, Stressing drive train ,etc) with your quadra drive 4wd system driving on the street with those big axles and tires? Thanks
@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 2 жыл бұрын
I definitely recommend not axle swapping to start. I believe I had quadra drive 2 and it seemed to do everything fine but loosing the ability to chose rear wheel drive only kind of stinks. There’s some strength issues partnered along with that as well. I would recommend swapping the transfer case to the stronger one available especially if you’re going bigger than 33’s or so. It’s been about 3 years since looking at it last but I want to say the transfer case you want is a 242b or something like that, I apologise because I can’t really remember the name. I think I commented a similar recommendation to an older comment on this vid.

Andrey K I was running the Clayton long arm kit and actually just removed the driver side upper control arm. At some point I would have likely made a bracket somewhere but the very beefy Clayton arms had no problem with just having one upper on the passenger side.

I have a 2x4 Jeep wj just like yours what all would I need to convert it to a 4x4?
@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 3 жыл бұрын
Dustin Pickle so I may not be entirely correct just because I’m not very familiar with the two wheel drive Jeeps. To start you will need a transfer case to move the power to the front and rear, I believe you may need a different transmission because the mounting points are different on the output, you’ll need a new rear drive shaft and a front drive shaft, you’ll need a new front axle from a 4WD WJ with the drive shafts and gears and such, and you’ll need to change out the bit in the centre counsel for the t-case shift knob. None of this includes whatever work may need to be done with the computer or fuses or lights on the instrument cluster if any of those need to be modified. All in all it would be more cost and time effective to buy a 4WD Jeep in my opinion but no doubt it can be converted with enough hard work.

Nice jeep, how many inches is it tall and number of tires?
@tylerhite9287
@tylerhite9287 3 жыл бұрын
6inch lift plus the height of the 37inch tires which adds about another 4inches, then there’s a couple more inches because of the way the coil spring brackets mount to the axle.
