A couple people just pointed out that you really don't need the third bone, and they're right! You can skip the parts between 0:54 and 1:54 and just parent the old IK foot to the Pivot_2 bone instead of the third bone. And make sure you don't add the second constraint on Pivot_2. Damn, could've made the entire video a minute shorter😩

btw, i only just had the chance to apply it to my character. While doing animation, i always felt that i needed such a mechanic. It really worked beautifully, thank you :))

I really wish Blenders pose mode and object mode was one and the same like in Maya because linking rigs doesnt allow going into edit mode to add bones. This makes doing these rad things a lot harder than they should be imo :C Great video though

just append them ? also if you need to edit the rig you should do it in the source rig file. the linked rig will be updated automatically.

Different software, different workflow. The whole point of linking rigs is to not have the data referenced directly in the file making the file lighter as a result. If you really needed to add new bones, you either edit the original file or override the data layer. Like the person above pointed out, appending is probably what you need instead

Wait how did you curve the shoulders like that 0:05. So many questions need answers :( looks too beautiful to not fully understand in a comprehensive manner on what I’m seeing. Sad.

@@Bahamamos You could start with the basic rigging tutorial I made :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3O5lJRrm9hnhdksi=2-xCLKJlolXyTlBI I the “curving of the shoulders” you’re talking about is covered in this tutorial as well. And it also answers the other question you asked earlier

I’m confused on the very last part. What’s custom bone or something lol. I like what I saw and don’t even know how to his it :/ you moved it around it and pivoted dynamically.
