You don't need any plugin while you have Resolve. Reducing noise, retiming using optical flow and motion recognizing, object removal, lens blur, flares etc. straight into the program (you need Studio version for some)

This is great - THANKS! I was completely confused by the Cut Page before this video -- the Cut Page is not intuitive in any way (for me anyway, the layout and methods are super confusing). I kinda get it now thanks to you. To be honest - this may sound crazy - I think the EDIT page is far, far easier to comprehend, so I'll be watching your video many times. You are the best teacher out there.

Fantastic tutorial - I've only just jumped on to DaVinci Resolve at V17 and bought the Speed Editor controller last week. Now I understand the value of the Cut page and how the Speed Editor , being Cut-Page centric, has value since it has little interaction with the Edit page (aside from getting Resolve Studio V17 free of charge). I'm a happy camper and now you have yet another subscriber!

You sir, are a Godsend. I just started making videos, and like most beginners, I started out using iMovie. Quickly, however, I knew I needed something else in order to create the types of videos I wanted to make. Still being a beginner, I wasn't ready to commit $$$ for pro level software, so I turned to the free version of DR 16. I could see right away how powerful DR was, but it was (and still is) VERY intimidating. Slowly, but surely, I've been getting more comfortable in DR, but found myself asking the very question you address in this video: "Why would I use the Cut page if the Edit page can already do everything?" My. Goodness. Mind. Blown. Between this video and another one on your channel talking about how to use optimized media, many of the reasons I had for still using iMovie from time to time have been completely thrown out the window! I imagine it'll still take some time to get fully used to using DR for everything, but once I'm there, I can already see 1) how much time I'm going to save, and 2) how much happier I'm going to be with my videos. Thank you SO much for creating these tutorials, you've certainly earned yourself a new sub, and I imagine someday I'll be a paying customer of yours as well. If your free videos have taught me this much, I can't imagine how much your paid classes will. Cheers!

Now we need a edit vs cut page video, where you point out the advantages of the edit page. I mean I guess we have a clue, but it would be helpful to see what can't be done in the cut page, though instead of trying to do it there, just go over to the edit section

Pretty cool video. I guess TL:DW is that the Cut page is the axe and the edit page is the scalpel. Start with the cut page, get your timeline laid out and then, when you need to, switch to the edit page and fine tune things. I have NOT used the Cut page yet, but I think I might have to for upcoming edits. Thanks for the vid.
@martymarquez5 жыл бұрын
I think the CUT page is really useful to make a rough cut of a project and then refine your work on the edit page. 😊 Some people may find it a little bit like an extra work instead of an improvement, but I think it's just a matter of habits. I would give it some time and try to figure out a new (and faster) workflow. Great review, btw!!! (as usual) 👏👏👏
@myownfriend235 жыл бұрын
In truth, all of these features could just be added to the Edit timeline and make the Cut page useless.
@martymarquez5 жыл бұрын
@@myownfriend23 Indeed, that would've make much more sense. Maybe that's because they tried to make it more friendly for new users, idk. Anyway, they're always listening to their customers so let's see how they respond to the feedback of this experiment.
@myownfriend235 жыл бұрын
@@Leprutz That isn't true. The only thing that would be even slightly incompatible between the two is the way that the timeline treats linked video and audio. Everything else could be brought to the Edit tab without any trouble. The Clip View is just a matter of adding one additional, small button to the Edit Media Pool. The Source Tape view also requires just one , small, additional button to the Source Viewer. The way that the Cut page does cropping,, transforming, etc. in the Viewer is just overall superior to the way it's done in the Edit page so it could just replace it altogether. Even the mini-timeline would work in the Edit tab if given the ability to collapse into a scroll bar and it would actual be a better scrolling solution than is currently in the Edit page. Also some difference in behavior mentioned in this video are misleading. Dragging a clip into the timeline changes focus to the timeline in both pages. They only worked different because he used the Append button which isn't present in the Edit page, but can be done with keyboard shortcut and can already be set to not change focus to the timeline.

This Cut mode was present in Sound Forge. There's always the full-wide wave form above the zoomable wave forms in Sound Forge. So instead of just dealing with audio, DV has now incorporated this in video editing. Sound Forge had done years earlier.
