I came to this video because I read an article about Nick Saban hates when his DBs cross their feet in press coverage and demand that they kick slide. You provided a good explanation.

Thanks for the tip about the 45 degree angle. My press is pretty good but I get stacked sometimes because I try to create a wall laterally. Definitely gonna incorporate the angle to stay square and in phase 🙌🏽

Taught this today.. Honestly i used a cross when playing to gain extra ground faster. I see pros do it as well but today a coach said the same thing about crossing your feet.

Could you post a video on guarding a man while doing this? It seems this is what high level DB coaches want to use in press now but for us young less experienced coaches we need to understand why this is used and how to use it. I don't want my guys in middle school to get caught up in the kick sliding to (like to the left and get beat on a slant) thanks for everything coach your videos really help! Keep up the great work!

Aye coach I just did this yesterday at Practice, nobody was catchin shit on me! Not even our receiver 1 was catchin that ball. Changed my whole Technique. Do you think you can make video going deeper into the mechanics behind the Kick Step

Coach when is it best to use the kick slide. Like what type of routes Is it best to use the kick slide on? And what is the main purpose of the kick slide?
@GridironStuds4 жыл бұрын
Kick slide is used at the line of scrimmage in press. When they WR is trying to exit either right or left of you, instead of sliding directly across, you use a kick slide at a 45 degree angle to try to remain in front of and over the top of the WR

What situation calls for you to use the weave vs the kick slide because they’re pretty similar?
@GridironStuds Жыл бұрын
Weave when playing off. Kick slide when playing press

coach when you jump a route like a curl or any route how do you go for the ball? is there a specific way to stop him from cutting upfield while also deflecting it
@GridironStuds4 жыл бұрын
Use your inside hand to break up the ball while using your other hand to secure the tackle. It may be the next video I make

I am 12, 98 pounds, am I qualified by weight and age. And also, usually when I play with my friends, I do good coverage, but they might not be the top receivers of their age, so I don't know if I'm as good as I think. Also I am very short for my age, I am 4'7😬

Drink milk. 2 glasses a day, 15 a week. If you don't like milk drink chocolate milk. If you do this you'll be 6'2-6'3 by the time you grow up.
