Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty - NEW Ending to the Main Story - Panam Romance

This is the new ENDING to the main game of Cyberpunk 2077. This ending is pretty incredible and bittersweet at the same time. How to get it: you can get this 8th ending if you make sure that Songbird aka So Mi stays alive. This is the ending where I romanced Panam in the main game. In the credits I got messages from Rogue, Takemura, lover Panam (Mitch), Solomon Reed and Viktor.

Somehow this ending accurately represent what Dexter Deshawn asked V before the Arasaka's botched Heist which is " A quiet life or blaze of glory." Quiet life represents that V managed to stay alive but disappear amongst the quiet life and people will forget about him or her easily. Blaze of Glory represents V died in the future as a Night City's Legend and everyone will remember it forever. Also, just like what Johnny said, if you want a happy ending in Night City, you are definitely in the wrong place.

I actually don’t mind this ending too much. V i still alive, still has all their knowledge and experience and could move on easily. What really hurts most to me is Panam and the Aldequados shutting you out. This happens whether you romanced her or were just friends. They said they were family but that was only true as long as you were there and useful. It’s pretty fucked up to me that after saving Saul, Panam, the whole clan, multiple times, and going along with her dumb schemes that only worked because V was involved, she won’t see you, won’t talk to you because V spent years in a coma and recovering. Finally did something for themselves. It’s really shitty and feels like forced misery.

The main story is set and done, all of the other main game endings would make absolutely zero sense if this DLC gave us a happy ending. I'd even go as far as to say that this is a kind of* happy ending. It's how you look at it. I mean V is alive, depending on your progression during the game he/she could be a millionaire by that point, have lots of expensive cars/apartments (is that why V smiles at the end?), he has tons of experience and knowledge still even if he can't use most implants. You can even say that V and Panam may be reunited 1 day after she learned that V is alive and she reconsiders her decision. I mean the ending where you go with Aldecados is considered to be a good ending by many people, because V's fate remains unknown, so they assume that V somehow finds a way to save himself (the theory I've heard from many people). This ending can be like this, too. Except this one is kind of better because we know for sure that V lives.

Wild that the only two people that didn’t ask V for help, are the only ones who are true friends of them even after they were gone for two years, I was super sad that Judy move on, but I’m glad she had a happy ending, and I’d like to think V took misty up on the offer of exploring the jungle with her as best friends

She does nothing else and when V calls her she changed her outfit, hairstyle she "grown up" and she feels cold as ice compared to the old Judy, she moved on from NC and is also married. She offers to come by for a beer(??) She didn't act even nearly as surprised or happy as Kerry.

I somehow liked this depressing ending. In a way, it feels like a "Bookend" to V journey. He rose to the top as a nobody and become almost a legend while his life was running on the edge, then he decided to save his own life which was his goal in the game and he end up back to zero again like in the Street Kid prologue. With no friends except a few loyal ones. Also Dexter question to V about Going out blaze of glory or Live life peacefully now really is a big foreshadowing V two important path.

I'm actually not sure about this interpretation. Dex tried to live a quiet-life and he ended up shot in the head and dumped in a landfill. V became a legendary merc and made it out alive, with a succesful civilian career foreshadowed. My interpretation is that life is more complicated than Dex analogy and V was the real winner who might manage both - while Dex didn't achieve either.

Too Be fair V had another chance at life. They did take a bullet to the head, get their corpse re-booted to be a new body for another person, then got to live out their life as they wanted. V can still be a Netrunner, a Government Dog, Visit Mama Welles, race cars, or make new friends. V may be just someone else in the crowd now but they have their life which was already in the can to begin with.

Why couldn't V just ask Reed to keep his friends updated about his condition? Why does V say almost nothing about the details of the surgery to his closest friends/possible girlfriend Panam, leaving them completely in the dark about what's happening? This ending makes no sense and leaves me seriously pissed off the longer I think about it. I can understand V losing his chrome, but all of his friends leaving him or moving on feels like a cop out.

1000% my same critiques with the ending lol. V is so OOC it hurts. The fact he just decides to go to a roof and dip with no contingency plan whatsoever to let his friends / SO realize what's going on or what might possibly happen is super bad writing. The other endings it makes some sense because V is forced to act quickly because he's literally dying and has no time left. However, when you kick off this ending, that's not the situation. V just dips and makes no contingency to inform everyone about what'll happen. The fact he could die on the table. The fact he might be out of commission longer than expected etc. They even purposefully make him / her have no real good communication options. Basically his message to Panam is so bad, "Yooo, what up! I'm back! Wanna talk?" As if anybody with a brain would handle the situation like that. Not to mention, all his friends having the same reaction. There's good realistic tragedy, then there's forced meta misery porn. This felt more like the writers going out of their way to deliver a "feels bad" ending than a realistically bittersweet one where the characters have realistic reactions to their circumstances. The other endings felt to me more realistic due to the circumstances. This one just screams "off" in all directions due to the characters reactions which felt forced, especially V's.

Fade away from what? Remember, the games starts with V just trying to help a friend get out of debt. The heist went bad which put V on the path he ended up on. I don't recall seeing or hearing anything prior to him meeting Jackie that indicated that it was ever V's ambition to be famous or legendary. If memory serves me correctly, that goal didn't come about until after V met Jackie and it was really Jackie's dream, V just took it on after Jackie died to honor him, but by that point what V REALLY wanted was just to live. By the time Songbird called him, he was pretty much desperate for a cure. So he never really wanted to go out in a blaze of glory, he just wanted a good life and the new ending offers an opportunity for that with a presumably well paying desk job working for the government. 🤷🏻‍♂️

44:05 This final exchange between Misty and V solidifies this as my favorite ending in the game. So much subtext that isn’t blatantly said. As bleak as it may seem on the surface, it has potentially the most hope for the future. The base game takes place over the course of less than a year. V’s friends and loved ones are all gone, but all that pain “doesn’t matter anymore” since V can now go on and live for many more years and find new people to love. With the exception of Panam, just about every one of V’s friends would’ve likely turned out the same in the end anyway.

The only one that gets a pass is River because if you call him, the way he speaks makes me think he’s in prison for what he did after V disappeared. The only friends V has in the game are Jackie, Misty and Viktor. Everyone else are just looking out for themselves.

I mean from a meta perspective it stinks because basically, the game is saying all that time you put into these characters was a waste, but sometimes that happens in real life too. some people are only your friends so long as they can use you but once you can't offer any material benefit they run out on you. Also it's heavily emphasized while night city can serve as a sort of hedonistic drug to dull the pain, at the end of the day it's still a dystopian society, and as johnny learned the hard way, even by rebelling against the corpos he was playing right into their hands. at the end of the day and the only way to really win and escape the system is not to play. So I mean if you look at it from the perspective of, V gets cured and gets to actually escape the system live a normal life and find some REAL friends and not having to constantly look over his shoulder this is actually one of the best endings the character can have depending on how you want to roleplay them. @@eddyram4932

You kinda misunderstood the point of this world. You can never be a merc without the inevitability of death around the corner, can’t have your cake and eat it too. This ending gives us the ability to live, but the cost is you lose your ability to go back to your life, you now have to live like a normal person, everyone is having to move on from their lives because things can’t always stay the same. It’s a bitter sweet ending, you get the chance to have a fresh slate, accept the new circumstances and keep going. At the same time tho, you’re now having to come to terms with the fact that you can’t do what you love anymore, and the friends you knew can’t support you either. It’s based on ambiguity these endings, the game wants to know what you’d rather do in the end, live the quiet life? Or go out in a blaze of glory?

Sorry to break it to you but somebody DOES love this ending. I know I do. If the directors of this game wanted a completely bleak storyline then the whole idea of you being able to meet Misty and Vik one last time before the cutscene and have OPTIONs for a hopeful and new beginnings would have been left out entirely. Misty could have been gone, never get one last piece of future reading guru talk from her, which she presents a word of advice for adapting and her saying that you don't need the lucky bulletproof charm says a lot symbolically. Vik is, while moving away still alive, you're alive too, so can meet up when you get the chance. V can also be hopeful that he might be a fixer (which he has enough experiences and connections to be in the major league quite quickly too). It does look quite hopeful to me if you should ask.

That's not to say I personally dislike this ending... I can't expect devs to put every possible outcome under the sun in one game, but a version of this ending where you at least have a family to go back to whether it be Panam and the Aldecaldos or they leave night city behind with Judy, even a corny ending where V dies but rejoins Johnny and Jackie wherever the next life takes them. V had so many other goals other than just to live, each ending makes it clear regardless what you do, V will achieve none of them (at least not for long). Yep, that is why its called Phantom Liberty. You get what you always wanted (life/Liberty from the BIOcip) but the price is everything and everyone you ever knew. Pretty much the best option for V is to take FIA's offer to be stuck to desk but set for life.

I think Panam is dead honestly, be it suicide or becoming so angry and reckless at life and her first real emotional vulnerability and openness with someone that she slipped up and got killed. But Mitch doesn't have the heart to tell V after his coma, he wants V to believe she's living her life among the Nomads doing what she does best. If Panam were alive she'd be looking to rake V through the coals for what he did to her, which makes this ending even worse.

I mean yeah the way they represent it is depressing but If you think about it, V is completely healthy,, got rid of the biochip without any side effects or risk of dying, except that you no longer can use implants. You can still use weapons, tho. Although, I was little disappointed that there wasn't more to this ending.. I would gladly spend an extra 2-3 hours walking around Night City as a regular civilian exploring night city from completely different angle, maybe even having normal relationship, live a normal life? But I know this would probably be boring to most people..

Everyone saying this ending is sad is definitely not wrong, but I feel like they missed a detail, I caught a small little smile from V before disappearing into the crowd, yes they lost everything, but they also got back what they wanted all along that makes it all worth it, their future and their life, it’s all over, no more conflict or killing or being a mercenary, a fresh start that they can do whatever they want to on, they could go anywhere and do anything, meet all new people and make new relationships, so honestly I think it might be my favorite ending, and it mirrors Johnny’s a lot, they both started a new life and have so much they could do, their old chaotic life is over, now they get to live it right

I haven't played the DLC but this is how I feel too. In all of the other endings V dies. At least here he gets to walk away. 100% of times we would make the choice given the circumstances. Never heard of someone who has cancer and is terminal say: I could do this to get rid of cancer and live a normal life but nah, think I'd rather keep the cancer and go out in flames.

The Nomad, V Panam ending is cannon. I'll tell ya why. The Tarrot Cards that are read in the last call. The Lovers, the Sun, the chariot. Together it means that that you're on the right path and that you will succeed and that you are going to be tested in love but if you stay focused it will all work out. Well, I did see in another video about the new ending that before V returns to NC, he is told by Viktor that sometimes some friends that leave come back, hinting at a possibility that V may resume relationships with friends seemingly lost while in the 2 year coma. We may never know, but CDPR definitely left open the possibility that V could rekindle his relationship with Panam sometime in the future, however unlikely. Only time will tell.

This ending seems to me the most horrendous of all by far. V goes from being the best merc in the city to being practically a ghost (I guess the title of the DLC suits him perfectly). Not only that, his "friends" with the exception of Vektor and Misty, practically forget about him or act coldly after finding out what has happened to him, leaving him in the lurch. Special mention for Panam, who after everything he did for her and the Aldecaldos, does not even want to talk to him directly, knowing everything that V has gone through. I have always been on the Panam team, but after this ending, I am out, sorry. The least V deserves is for you to talk to him, no matter how much it hurts. As I said, a horrendous ending, but more than appropriate for Night City, where we all know that no one achieves happiness and it ends up devouring your dreams if you don't escape when you have the chance.

Pretty sure in universe there are ways V could still hold is own. Bio modifications, tech goggles, nanoweave armor , external cyber decks. Maybe some kind of combat exo skeleton to mimic some of the combat related Cyberware he lost. V still had his mind, combat experience,and his cunning, being familar with how NC work. Wouldn't take long to make up for two years, make connections, and be a top fixer in NC. Or choose to work with Reed again, which despite how vague the offer is, could be another route to go in. The ending is bittersweet but it accomplishes the goal of finding a cure. V is running on borrowed time in the other endings, having to risk certain death in the space hiest or get screwed by Saka. The Sun is pretty hopeful though and still my prefered ending with romances Panam (V gets to leave with an entire Nomad clan and live out th3 rest of his peeps). Plus its fucking Night City yo. What did you expect? The ending to Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood? Lol

The original endings either let you die on your terms, or live with something called "soul killer". Story-wise, there was no way to keep being the best and baddest merc in night city with your soul intact. And the outcomes reflected that. In this one, you get to live, but you lose everything. Everything that came from being a merc gets literally and figuratively ripped out of you, and you get to try again. You lose it all, but you keep your soul. Idk, I've been coming around to this ending. Makes sense. It's the only real way OUT.

Assuming his regular chrome works (which it does, you can see it : his eyes still function and so does his limbs), he can just become a particularily legendary gunslingers. If I remember correctly, one of the Night City's biggest legend is precisely that : an unaugmented man, completely biological, no particular hacking skill; but unrivaled in battle, even against the most chromed up motherfuckers.

Morgan Blackhand was not unaugmented at all. He had a Sandevistan, chip ports,cyber optics, has a metal arm, emp shielding, nanosurgeons which can rapidly heal damaged tissue, hydrauling rams which increase muslc strength, and has rippers which are sharp protruding metal nails that can cut through metal. He just never overdid it, like Smasher.

After hearing Mitch talk about Panam, I can understand it a bit more. She's clearly been in a really bad place mentally, and it seems like the whole clan up and moved as far from V and NC as they could to help her get over him. When you love passionately you grieve passionately as well. If you've ever had a deep aching heartbreak it's understandable, but I still wish we had gotten a bit more. Something like Panam calling V and immediately hanging up. That slightest thinnest shred of hope for catharsis in the future.

Many people dont know this but this is the only ending where the real V lives. In every other ending V dies in Mikoshi After soul killer. He is just a engram who controls the body without having a soul. Alt states this when Johnny takes over your body. She says that johnny is just a reedable code in the cyberspace and she knows What he will say even before he says it. But its different when V talks with alt in the Cybespace. She says that it is dumb to talk with johnny because he is reedable but the human factor is V. She cant reed him. Johnny died Many years ago. You Are Not Talking with a real Person just with a engram which is the copy of the ideals Johnny had. Basically this is the only ending where V lives he pays a big price but he lives and it is the only way he stays alive. And we dont know it yet but this ending is probably the canon ending. Its an open ending so you can only imagine What Happens.

Is it just me or the devil ending is the best solution for V to "stay alive"? Yes we lose our friends to time but if V so wish to stay alive, the Secure-Your-Soul program might be the best. A new body, new face, new beginning, new story and new legacy. With close relationship with takemura, V can easily return to her "Corps" life in the future. Or they can choose to return to night city and start over without the threat of dying ( both panam and johnny ending) or risk of losing all of their chrome( phantom liberty ending).

I have been ruminating on this ending for a couple of days now and I still can't wrap my head around these characters. So I get that this is Cyberpunk and the overall vibe of the game is bleak. And I also get that Panam is hot-headed, impulsive, and "overly" emotional And that is has been 2 YEARS!! But she is also extremely devoted to her family, the Aldecaldos. Last we knew, V was an Aldecaldo too. Did they kick him out during the 2 year coma? And they never bothered to look for him in those 2 years? What if he had been kidnapped or in a hospital somewhere fighting for his life? Granted it was in the NUSA so they would have more difficulty finding out but the attempt should have still been made. After risking their lives to help V, and some making the ultimate sacrifice, they didn't bother to look for their brother at the very least? Very OOC there, although I guess it could have happened off camera. And what's with Mitch's passive-aggressive diatribe? Telling V to leave Panam alone forever. Is Mitch trying to take V's place by her side? Did she even get the message? I also find V's lack of communication OOC. At least in my playthrough, he texted or called her 4-5 times a day, even for the same old replies, as he was totally into her. Leaving her out of any form of communication when he was going for complicated neurosurgery was very jarring. So my major complaint with this ending is not that it isn't rainbows and unicorns. My problem is that it goes against the 300 hours of V's story in the original game (yes, I am a very slow-paced and read everything kind of guy). Too much out of character moments by multiple parties led to this just creating bleakness for the sake of being bleak, in my opinion bitter without the sweet. Some sort of closure with Panam herself, even just a text or video message resulting in the same ending, could have made this much more in character and palatable.

Pretty much all the endings have a Glimmer of hope, save suicide and devil/reject the contract. But all of them are kinda more about finding meaning than finding a cure.

It doesn’t show it in this play through but assuming if you’re female and Romans Judy in two years she actually moved on and got married like I mean, what is she supposed to do She was lonely no idea if you were alive or coming back so she moved on I said as this is, I think this is considered a bad/happy ending for V she doesn’t die anymore but in return nobody knows who she is I hope we find someone out there that she could fall in love with.

This game is so fucking depressing that its hard for me to play it without remembering that my character is gonna fucking die or everyone forgets him. Yeah i understand the story they are trying to tell but we cant win iust once is bullshit great game and story just wish we had more freedom with our story like they said

Wouldn't this ending not matter if V never got implants? If he became a legend without implants, how could this ending make sense? The only implants that the game makes you get are the eye and smart link implants.

Sure, but I'd wager crafting a narrative around 1% of the player base that doesn't play as a air jumping cyberpsycho wargod is pretty weird. Most people use the best gear, and watching V go from absurdly strong to normal and helpless is a punch in the guts.

@@jeanvaljean6433 I'm seriously hoping that V has a bunch of implants that lets them keep up with the rif raff. Like muscle boosters and something to affect their motor controls. Things that the game doesnt really show. It wouldn make more sense. But V better leave the city soon. Especially the female V. Or her friends will one day see her with an implanted behavior chip, starting in an underground scav porno featuring her. Becoming a breeding sow for them. Or something worse
