Күн бұрын

My friend Matt dropped off his 2018 Harley Davidson Limited by Dave at JD'S cycle Works, I stopped by to take a look at the damage that was created to his engine. The camshaft that was installed, was not only installed incorrectly without the necessary components, but should have never been installed on this motor. Make sure you watch this video and it's entirety, it will save you a lot of money and headache by not going through what he is now.

I don't get why people try and turn a Harley touring bike into a performance bike. I have a couple of Ducati's and a Road King and my Road King is for cruising, I didn't buy it to go fast. Leave it stock and it'll run forever.

When you started this I was expecting to see a different problem like lifters or push rods, I installed the cam in my 114 40K miles ago and was smart enough to research cams thoroughly so I installed a RS 468. That is a pretty dumb mistake to install a high lift cam on stock springs even I know thats wrong.

Because no mechanic wants some jack ass that has no idea what the hell hes looking at. Staring over his shoulder watching him work. All that customer will do is ask you if youre sure you're doing it right. The second the rubber mallet or brass punch comes out. They freak out. Drop your bike off and screw off. When its done ill call you

Highest lift you can run on a stock m8 valve train is .485 that’s what the 30-30 by star racing “George Bryce” is. Lift plays a factor but duration is where the power is made. 107-114 cr480, tts175, or 30-30. All make loads of torque and respectable hp. 124+ depends on cylinder pressure, and desired rpm range. I’m sorry y’all had to experience this failure I’d 100% be calling the installer and I would be questioning why that combination was recommended on a 107 m8. I’m sure this bike isn’t the only one running around.

Makes no sense why the springs were not changed. Someone was obviously in there because I noticed in the video that the rocker shaft bolts were changed out for studs. So why disassemble all of that change out to studs and not change the springs. My guess is they didn’t have the proper tool to change the springs with the head on the bike.

Hey bud, you may already know this, but make sure you have your cam chain tensioners looked at. They were notorious for failure on the early twin cams. Great motors otherwise. If the tensioners have never been replaced, or need replacing look into gear drive cams. Very solid setup. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps. Enjoy the Road King. Awesome bikes!
