Great review! Our 12V 100Ah mini has been upgraded recently. The old version has a BMS without low temperature protection, and the new version has a smart BMS with low temperature protection. If you buy it after June 14, you will receive the new version with low temperature protection, because the old version of the battery was sold out on June 13. The new version has the same battery cells and internal structure as the old version, we just upgraded the BMS. When Mr. Off-Grid has time, maybe we can plan to test the low temperature project again.😃

Does your website clearly state that the older versions, which look 100% identical, do not have LTCP? Is that indicated, either way, on the battery case? If that isn't indicated on the case, why not? If you're not going to put "LTCP" on the batteries with a BMS which includes that feature, how could a consumer know whether or not to buy your product, since you could just as easily switch back to the slightly cheaper BMS?

Exactly! That’s why it failed the test! This is only reason I suggested. For someone with a semi conditioned battery area it’s really cheap energy storage. This battery has been as low as $149 in the last few months! That’s cheap for (4) 105Ah cells shipped to your door! I’m wondering if there’s going to be a big price war on these batteries the closer we get to tariffs increase. Maybe even better prices are coming?

You should be good in FL! (Can be used in climate controlled environments anywhere) High temp is very important for safety! This is why I’m always checking the BMS for high temp protection as well!

Nice battery and awesome size. To bad the low temperature sensor didn't shut it off. It makes you wonder if it is a bad sensor or bms programming. Regardless it didn't work and that is sad. In my line of work I see bad sensors all the time. It always makes me wonder why they can't build a better sensor. Enjoyed the video and keep them coming.

Sensor seemed to function properly, triggering high temp cutoff quickly. As I mentioned to another viewer it could be as simple as a programming issue or the board doesn’t even have the option available! Hard to find cut sheets on the custom contract boards! Regardless still good capacity for the price!

Does it have more than one temp sensor? I am pretty sure you said there was one for high temp, if they look the same, they might do both high and low temp. I know some of them are designed that more than one sensor has to read below 32 to shut off. I would guess it does not. But could be one of those types. But always glad for an honest review.

Unfortunately there is no other senor! If you pause and look at the BMS you’ll see the pin out for the single 10K NTC thermistor! Specs are hard to find on some of these custom contracted boards and could be as simple as not programming the option in to it not even being offered for the particular board build and chipset.

Is there another temp sensor under the BMS, can see 2 black wires near the balance lead maybe that's the low temp sensor? If you still have the battery would be good to know if that is it

6:03 One single NTC sensor connection plainly visible on BMS. Wrong or improper configuration on the BMS is why it doesn’t work. Not commercially made that I’m aware of. Maybe a Rubbermaid tote or similar? Large pelican case? Mine are on a simple 2x4 and plywood shelf!

Wow looks like they are actually matching the cells for each battery. Those capacity numbers were about as close enough together as you're going to see in ANY battery no matter the price. All 105.7Ah unless the hidden one wasn't like the others...which I doubt if 3 of them were within 88mAh of each other. The welding of the bus bars explains why another KZbinr was abe to pull 300+ amps out of this thing. These EVE cells are rated for 2C IIRC but with huge bus bars like that and massive welds...voltage drop will be minimal.

The battery is back to $165 rn btw. I picked up a couple if them and they seem great. Only problem is on the manual it says the battery is 100% charged at 13.5v. Shouldn’t the voltage get to 14.4%?

LiFePO4 charges to 14.2-14.6 depending on your charge preference/cell voltage target. After coming off the charger within an hour or so, the voltage will usually settle to 13.5-13.6 and after 24 hours some will settle to 13.4-13.5. You can’t go off voltage like lead acid. I have some links to an affordable energy meter in the description that tracks the energy in/out of battery. Or you can use a larger 500A shunt and program it to coulomb count for you. Hope this helps!

Have you tried a charger with 0V charging capability? Charger should indicate BMS wake up feature. I’m assuming you have no voltage at the terminals? Hope this helps

Good capacity for such a low price! If you can keep batteries in an insulated power shed or garage etc you’d be fine way further north! On an RV or marine application the lack of low temp protection is a bigger concern.

Yes the connection range with things like this is rarely good. I had a $75 solar controller with Bluetooth. It was the same. Still better than using the buttons on the controller though. The cell level information is what I’m interested in for battery health. So standing right above the battery will be fine with me. The Bluetooth I’m unimpressed with is my 40v ryobi power station. It is only about 20 feet. Not impressive for a $700 device. But I am putting up with the Ryobi downfalls because if it dies during a power outage I can walk into Home Depot and walk out with a new unit.
